Why are weight loss clinics so expensive??

I called around to the weight loss clinics in town and WOW!! One place charges $700 for the first visit and $125 every visit afer that! The cheapest I have found was $275 for the first visit which included tests (they even have you get an EKG) and $98 every two weeks. This is crazy! I want to lose weight, not all of my money!! I tried the doctor that calls it in for you (you know the one ) and they are having problems getting my script filled here in Alaska. Any ideas on what to do? I know that some times you just have to **** it up and pay, but others here are getting a much better deal. I guess it must be the fact that I live in AK. UGH!

How thats insane!!! Mine was 70 for the first visit and depending on how you pay, 30 for next 10 (thats a big lump sum I paid at once)

That is so much! I pay $85 per month and that includes my B-12 shot.

Instead of a weight loss clinic, have you asked your regular doctor? If you tell him you are miserable and you are desperate for assistance and you have done the research and phen is what you want, a lot of doctors are more than happy to help you reach a healthier weight.

Thats a lot of money! I pay $50 a month, and that includes my medication... I would serach around a little harder. I'm sure there is a reasonable clinic around where you are somewhere

My normal doctor is a military doctor, so they won't prescribe weight loss medications. I have searched all over the internet and in all of the local phone books, and I have only been able to find 3 places in town and the surrounding areas (which isn't much). I'm really bummed!

I was lucky enough to find a doctor in my city ( thank god! ) It was 100 bucks for the first two weeks and 60 bucks after that. Hopefully you will get lucky and fina doctor there!
I am sooooo curious on this doctor that everyone is kinda talking about....who is this secret man???

I called the doctors listed at that site, but they only do gastric bypass there. They do not provide any other services. I guess I'll have to either go to the cheapest clinic I find, or just do without phen

Do you have an OB/GYN separate from your general practitioner or do you use your GP for everything? OB/GYN's are usually more open to prescribing phen. I'm actually going to a clinic for mine, but it's just 99.50 for the phen and the MD visit per month. I'm and L&D nurse though, and most of the doctors I work with regularly prescribe phen. I asked most of them before I finally decided on the clinic mostly because I'm also taking Lipo-Vite injections which I can only get at the clinic. Don't know if that helps at all, but it was my best shot.

Thanks babynurse06! My GP is used for pretty much everything (that's how the military goes) so no seperate OB/GYN. Thanks for the advice though. I guess I will wait until Monday and see if my script ever gets filled. If not, I guess I will have to sell some scrapbooking stuff so I can start on phen

I was looking for this post of yours ! yes, being up here in ak it's definitely expensive ! the weight loss clinic that you mentioned is actually the one that i go to .. but don't worry once you start showing progress you can talk to the person you see and tell them that you'd like to go like once in 3 weeks ... that's what i started doing cause it gets pricey and im saving up for my trip coming up ! lol .. so who knows maybe once i progress even more i'll start going once a month hopefully ! but good luck on your goal im sure you'll make it !!

MIne was $100 for first visit (which included 7 days of phen and some vitamins)

$50 for lab/blood work (WHICH WAS ONLY NEEDE IF YOUR PERSONAL DOC DIDN'T HAVE ANY RECENT LAB WORK)

$30 for a month's supply of phen

and All future weigh-in and prescription visits are FREE!! of course i pay for my med $30 when needed - but I can go weigh in every week or every dY FOR FREE.

I was just wondering... i know even though, my regular physician is on base, i still went and saw just a regular family doctor off base, could you do that? All you need to do is find one accepting new patients and let them know when you make the appt it is for weight managment, and plead your case when you get there, Tricare covers atleast part of the visit, but not the phen walmart or walgreens fills for around 30 bucks and AAA gets you a discount at Walgreens. . I am sleventis...and I live in the nashville area too...so howdy neighbor...i am in spring hill...i was wondering where you went to get your script filled...is it a clinic..do you go weekly...do they provide you with the b-12 shots too??

wow my clinic isnt that much must be because its a real doctors office. they are 180 first visit, then 50 a week, and u go 1x a week to weigh in, get ur refill of a weeks supply of phen and other pills and food diary and all that mumbo jumbo.

now the beautiful thing i got going on, is my health insurance is covering 80% of the cost. so i pay up front, get a itemized reciept since this clinic is a real doctor, degrees and all, and submit to my insurance. they mail me a check in a week.

My clinic is $37/week if you pay for 3 months at a time. It was $69 for the first visit with the insurance paying the rest (they write off what the insurance doesn't pay)... that includes weekly shots, BP, weigh ins, phen, fat burners, cleanse pills, nutritional guidance, etc. I see the doctor once a month, twice in the first month. It's a bargain so far!!!
