Default Any Phen Dr's in Monmouth County New Jersey Area?

I don't know if I am the only one experiencing this....but I am SO envious of all of you who have these wonderful "weight loss doctors" who suggest phen, give you weekly or monthly "weigh-ins" and care about your progress...AND will keep you on phen for as long as you need to lose the weight! I had to BEG my doctor and she was very hesitant telling me that phen is a quick fix and I can only be on it for 2 months. She never mentioned a diet plan, exercise plan...motivation, etc. I cannot find a dr. like some of you have mentioned you are currently seeing. I feel like NJ is the only place that this does not exist??

I want to be monitored and not have to look for the pills illegally...I AM strictly exercising 6 out of 7 days and watching what I eat...the phen is a GREAT "tool" and I think it will help me get to where I want to be. I've done great with it so far! I just wish my dr. agreed! It's not like i am 120lbs and want to be anorexic! I am obese!

Anyone in my area know of a Dr. who will prescribe phen...?? Or...experiencing what I am?

I live in Monmouth County and go to Dr. Parhar. He prescribed it for me and didn't give me a time limit. He's in Holmdel. Hope this helps! Not sure of the number but I can get it for you if you're interested...

This is a little far north for you but Dr. Levine in Mahwah/Ramsey, NJ also prescribes Phen and does weekly check ups.

    Default THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[COLOR="RoyalBlue"]Sandy and Sk8Er....I cannot thank you guys enough!

SANDY: Funny thing...I actually saw Dr. Parhar before (on N.Beers St???) He was such a nice guy! I had a nail fungus and he knew I was in school and had no insurance....he called all his colleagues (while i was there) to find out the best and cheapest medication for me! He went above and beyond! What a doll! How is he with the phen? Did he give you a hard time??? Do you go for check ups? Sorry to bombard you...but do you use your insurance for each visit...or pay. Just worried it can get expensive! But I am running out of phen and I have to get it soon!!! Could you tell me how you found that he would prescribe it for you and how you asked him?
    Thanks!

Sk8er: Not far at all when you consider the $200-$300 to get it online and the chances you take! I spent $13 in Walmart the first time I got it! So with Dr. Levine...do u have to pay each week? If so, how much??? Never too much info...all is helpful!

Thank you guys again SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Much! I wish there was something I could do for you!

When I went to Dr. Levine, I guess the way he coded the bills, the insurance paid for the appointments. You go for appointments every week for the first month and then every other week I believe. He would give me a prescription and also was giving them to me for "free" during my appointments when he thought I was running out. I only would take a 1/2 pill a few times a week so I had a lot of extra and even stopped taking them and since I got into a healthy eating habit, was still losing weight. I always exercised so that wasn't the challenge.

Then we made a cross country move and life changed and I know many people don't believe in the starvation theory BUT with the lifestyle change and our financial situation, I continued exercising and stopped eating because I wasn't hungry and threw 2 years of work out the door to just bump up the weight.

So I went to an Endocrinologist and they said I have to start eating 5-6 small meals a day because I put my body into "starvation" (there's that word again). Its kinda of hard for me to believe that not eating causes weight gain BUT I started at the end of December eating the small meals again and dropped 6 pounds so I guess there is some theory to it. When I wasn't eating, I would be very tired and get the sugar shakes and now by dinner time, I don't even want to eat because I have been eating small meals throughout the day.

With Dr. Levine, he is awesome and very supportive. He wrote the book The Redux Revolution and just an overall nice guy. He is located on Franklin Turnpike. He was actually the first one to tell me that I needed to eat 3 years ago otherwise the Phen doesn't help. He said not huge meals, but small meals throughout the day and that was when I dropped the most weight on and off the Phen.

I am using Phen (1/2 pill) a few times a week to help drop some weight and then will stop it again as I have read, many others do as well. If you give yourself time and patience, you will see results. Part of my motivation is a closet full of clothing that I bought when I was 155 and now are tight. My husband and I gave away all my "fat" clothing to a charity in Newark before we moved and I refuse to buy larger clothing if I don't have to. I work from home and when I do have to go out for meetings, I do have a few things that still fit that I can look decent in but we all know we are staring at the cute tops, jeans, shorts and dresses and just think, "I can't wait to be back in that!"

Sorry for the babble, I am an original Jersey girl Feel free to PM me anytime and I'll shoot you over my email / phone number if you ever want to talk.

    Thanks!
    Lisa

He takes my insurance, and my co pay is only 15. My father goes to him for medical problems, and since I drive him to most visits I just asked him about it. He gave me a script and off I went to the pharmacy. He does only give it for only 30 days at a time, but he gives me a new script each month with no problems. He really is a great guy. He never once has given me a hard time about it. He also gives me the B-12 shot with each visit.
