I just finished my first week of Phen (37.5 mg once a day). I weighed in yesterday and I have lost 5 pounds. WHOOOOO HOOOOOOOO.
During the first week I didn't have any side effects to speak of except for being nauseous when I waited to long to eat. But today I have had a headache since I got up and my chest is hurting (not sure if this is due to the Phen or not).Did anyone else have chest pains after starting Phen? Not sure what to take either, is it ok to take ibupropen with Phen? I am still a newbie trying to get all the facts about Phen. Some people stay on it for years so the side effects must not be to bad, but I wouldn't want my chest to hurt like it did this evening, every day. Do the side effects generally go away after a while? I didn't change the food I ate this week, I just ate much less food. I didn't start exercising yet, but I plan to this week. I probably would have lost more weight if I had. |

I never had any chest pains, although i did have a killer headache the first week or so. As long as you don't have a history of high blood pressure i wouldn't worry about it. If you do...i would call the doctor. You're probably ok, but its best to be on the safe side. I know that symptoms of high BP include chest pain and headache...so make sure you keep an eye on it.

Chest pains are not a good sign consult your MD. As for the headache it is most likely due to you not drinking enough water. Phen dries you out.

I checked my BP yesterday and if anything it was low. I don't have a history of high bloodpressure either, in fact it has never been high. The chestpains were on the right side of my chest and I am not sure it was even from taking Phen. I doubt that it was since it seems no one else has had this problem. Oh well if it happens again I will consult my MD.

Alot of people have that problem and they end up with heart conditions. I'm not saying that is what is going on with you but to blindly look away is not safe. It could have been alot of things. But heart issues are the major side effect that you need to watch for with phen, hence why fen-phen is not longer on the market.

I don't understand why you all like to scare newbies like this one. Chest pain on one side of your breast is a side effect of phen and usually goes away after a couple of days. Do a search on this board and you will find alot of threads on that. That you didn't have it doesn't mean that anyone that had it went on to have heart condition. That is not true at all. I had it, post a thread on it and got some amazing response to just calm down that it will be gone before I know it. And it surely did go away after like 4 days or so.
So to the OP, just give it a couple of days and see what happens. Everyone that had it said it went away after a couple of days, so I am guessing yours will too Goodluck

I had chest pain one day, but it went away that same day - it could be a number of things, review what you ate the night before (was it really chest pain or heartburn, etc) learn to be aware of your body, in my case I was really dehydrated - I didn't drink much water and had coffee all day, so as soon as I got water in the pain started to go away.
Don't freak out just yet I know everyone on this site is very helpful and are trying to get all information possible to each other. Monitor your pain and mention it to your doc at your next visit. congrats on your 5lb loss- great start!

I appreciate all of the responses, does anyone else have any experiences to share with me.
My chest isn't hurting today. I think it may have been not enough water and air in my chest. I have been drinking alot more water lately and yesterday I kinda slacked on it. I will be sure to drink plenty of water from now on. I will also remember to mention this to my Dr. She gave me 37.5 mg once a day to start out on and a follow up visit in one month, does that sound normal? I really enjoy reading other peoples stories, and no one answered my question about the safety of ibuprophen with Phen, is it safe to take this OTC medication for minor aches and pain? |

That's what I was going to say, all the aches that I have had including the pains in my chest were due to not drinking enough water. Also if you are drinking caffeine that may cause it also. i have found the headaches are due to either not enough food, water, or too much phen at once, I do half a pill twice a day.Battle cross feel free to pm me if you have questions, I have been on phen twice, so I have probably experienced or heard about any side effect out there.. Good luck...
I agree with AHGA, stop scaring the newbies!! Come on guys!!...

sorry, I take ibuprofen everyday because I hurt my wrist at the gym about a month ago, I haven't heard that you can't and my Dr. is very good about telling me what I can't do so I think its ok, I think the only think you would need to be careful of is something that would raise your blood pressure or heart rate like certain cold meds...

I too have had chest pains, it just happened to me today and are thankfully gone now. It was really scarry and wasn't sure why i was feeling this way.
Thank you all for the replies and letting us know that it has happened to others as side effects. As with my blood pressure, I will be logging this and letting my Doctor know at my visit. burningphoenix |
