Question Why not be happy with any amount of weight loss ?

It seems like every other post I read some one is saying 13 pounds that all I lost , why wasn't it more and stuff . I just don't understand why people are upset with this kind of weight loss !! Am I wrong or is 13 pounds 10 or 8 better than what you was at ? Not everyone is the same and no one is just a like .. Just seems like everyone is too hard on their self .. Don't stress out over little things my first month on Phentermine I lost 12 pounds and now its been 3 and I have lost 39 pounds it's around 2 pounds a week that is what I am going for .. Of course I would love to be 120 pounds tomorrow but what a size 2 with skin hanging over my pants NO THANK YOU I don't .. DO you ... I'm just saying isn't anything better than nothing ?

I agree tammyjean! You didn't pack on 6 lbs in a week, so why do you expect to lose it that fast? Plus, not to mention, its not healthy.

    Red face

I write stuff on here to and it gets cut off too so don't feel bad lol ...
I just FEEL SO BAD when I read I am so mad or sad or such about losing 15 pounds I think its great and even when I read where someone wrote it I start second guessing myself , Am I doing enough , should I be losing more weight , and etc ... so I know for new users or people thinking of taking phen they read and think they are suppose to lose 35 pounds a month and thats so unhealthy ... No one should feel bad , also Don't let it get you down when people don't notice your weight loss , cause they really do , they just don't know how to respond unless they are a very blunt person ... I come on this site everyday and read the forums I don't always respond but I sure do soak in every piece of INFO i can , any tips and etc .. If anyone needs a weight loss Buddie I am here for you .. Good luck everyone , I am Glad to be apart of this forUM

I am sure it has to do with setting goals and failing, rather than actually being concerned about #'s lost. I had to get straight A's in college, even though I could pass with a C, because I am very competative. There are probably other reasons as well, but the above would be mine.
Phen is not working at all for me and I am not losing anything. Initially, I lost a few lbs over the first weekend and I have gained it all back. It was probably mostly water.

UPDATE: On a whim, I weighed myself just after posting and I have lost 9 lbs in one month! I had no clue because I am still craving food and I have not weighed myself because my clothes seem to be fitting the same. Go figure.....

Please don’t forget that at times we can all get frustrated in this weight loss process. Friends and family who are not fighting their weight most likely don’t want to hear about our struggles. When someone posts about their unhappiness with their weight loss, whether it be a 5 lbs loss or 15 lbs loss, they are looking for encouragement, advice and understanding. These boards are provide everyone with just that. I hope that this post doesn’t deter anyone from posing their weight loss struggles.

My goal is to be a size 2, but I am only 4’ 11” and my wrists are smaller than my 7 year old daughter’s

No I don't think you understood what I was saying or maybe I said it ALL the wrong way ... I know why we are here , I myself is here for the reason .. SUPPORT what I am trying to say is , any weight to lost is better than NOTHING .... I know how everyone is about trying to make goals ... I have a goal of 2 pounds a week , If someone sets thier goal 30 pounds a month that isn't a good idea to start with , so of course thier gonna be let down , When I decided to post this I thought well someone is gonna fuss at me .... Thier is nothing in my post that is negative , I said why isn't a few or 15 or so on , better than being no weight lost at all ? NOT I CAN'T stand you people for saying this !!! I'm here for support and to give support and my support i am trying to tell people is ANYTHING is better than nothing .. If I am wrong in anyone or I have offended anyone I am very sorry and I believe you have miss understood me ...

Angry This post is not bad.

I think this post is something that needed to be said, not something bad. I don't think it is discouraging at all. Personally, I feel annoyed when people post things basically saying, "I can't believe I've only lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks." I want to scream, "That is normal, if not above average!!!!" "That is healthy!!!!!" It boggles my mind! You did not pack on 8 lbs in a week, and should you expect to lose that much in a week. Period. End of story.

I also feel discouraged and saddened when I see that because I have only lost 9 lbs in 10 weeks - its hard to see people losing way more and then being disappointed about it. I would love to have phen so that I could perhaps lose it faster and not have these darn cravings.

I also don't agree with the comparison made above about grades. Losing 2 lbs in a week is not like getting a "C" when you could be getting an "A." I think losing even 1lb is like getting an "A" because you are obviously trying hard and changing your life for the better. I feel like the people who are complaining have a 98% and are complaining because they should have gotten 100%.

Please remember that phentermine is NOT a miracle drug. I think too many people on this site believe that it is. Phen is supposed to HELP you LEARN HEALTHY HABITS so that once you get off of phen, you will be able to continue to either lose weight or maintain your weight. I see too many people saying that they thing phen is not working because they are eating 1000 cals a day. This is profoundly confusing to me. Not many people can maintain that kind of caloric intake for the long haul. Eventually your body will start running into starvation mode. This is why you gain weight when you go off of phen - because either you haven't learned healthy habits and are binging on unhealthy foods, or you started eating a normal amount and your body is afraid to starve again.

Look, we are all in the same battle. Some of us have more to lose, some of us have less, some of us will do it faster, some of us will be stuck at the same weight for weeks. We need to focus on the fact that our bodies are healthier and that we feel better, not what pants size we fit into. Yes, that is hard. As I write it, I cringe just a little because I know that it seems so impossible to do. I'm not saying don't post your disappointments; we all need encouragement now and again. However, then you must listen to me vent my frustrations. That is what this site is about.

I hear you, tammy. I was one of the ones who posted that I had mixed feelings about my first month's loss of 12 pounds. I cannot speak for everyone else, but my reasons have to do with the number of times I've tried, and failed, over the years. I have PCOS, and it's made weight loss just about impossible. The first week on Phen, I lost 5, then 4, then 2, then 1. Yep, I'm thrilled to be watching the needle on the scale move back toward zero, but I'm also afraid it will quit working and I'll fail...again. I've never been thin (not since puberty) and I have difficulty comprehending that this might actually work this time. So, there you have it. No crazy expectations, and I do want to lose it the right way, I just want it to work.

Doubleduofa, I was not comparing the amount of weight loss to a grade. That was a totally seperate example of competative drive.

Tammyjean, I was not offended by your post at all. I took your meaning to be one of encouragement.

Austexgirl - I understand how you feel , people with thyroid problems also have a heard time losing weight unless on meds .. I totally understand how you feel , I've been there I just wanted everyone to know they should be happy with Something than nothing , You know I am in the same situation as everyone else and I have my ups and downs also .. Actually my first month I thought I will lose MAJOR weight , but I lost 12 then next month I lost 12 then now 3rd month and its 39 and I tell you 39 is noticeable a lot ...
Puffy- I know I didn't think you did I always like to be the best and I am always fast at everything , but I am taking this weight loss to heart and doing the best i can and be safe at the same time

I agree -- I'm struggling because I'd hoped to lose at least 10 lbs the first month. I think that's reasonable -- I'm not going to make it. I also am still eating way too much and not making good choices. I've had way too much cake this month (my bday month) and eaten out way to many times (I have no control when I eat out). I have, however, lost a few lbs and I'll have to be safisfied with that and glad I've lost anything.

Sharbear - You have to have more control over what you eat . Phen has helped give me the kind of control to start .. I sometimes dont take the phen but I still have the same mind set . As for eating out , I have a sometimes , I try not to but if I do it's on the weekend and it's a small amount . I believe that we can eat anything we just have to watch how much we eat ... CAKE doesn't seem like a good idea , with all the sugar but hey it was your bday and HAPPY LATE BDAY .. Don't give up JUST say I will do better next month and try harder ... I wish you the best of luck and YOU CAN DO THIS ...

Let me start by saying Tammy..u are nothing but positive energy!
You have been my support for the past 4 weeks! Everything u say just makes me believe I can do it and not give up. I must admit I am one of the ones who gets pretty upset when I only loose a pound or 2.

After speaking to u and hearing what u had to say I change may way of thinking as well as my way of eating. I do eat right now that im taking phen. But a part of me also wishes phen was a miricle pill....that can just take all the xtra pounds away!
This we know is not true. One thing I have learned is that food is not for ENJOYING FOOD IS FUEL!
PEOPLE THINK OF FOOD as an indulgence... but in reality our body needs food to live.... our body does not need a whooper it needs protien, vegies, ect... I use to wake up and say what am I going to eat today.
I lived for food! Now when I wake up I dont say what am I going to eat today... I get up and live.....I live for myselve not for food! FOOD IS FUEL NOT PLEASSURE! When my coworkers are eating in the office all the food I would love to eat... I walk around saying food is fuel...I SURE THE TIME WILL COME WHERE IM GONIG TO EAT... THE FOOD I ENJOY BUT I AM ALWAYS GOING TO REMEMBER FOOD IS FUEL!

Tammy hit it on the nail......who cares how many pounds........in how much of time.... just know its a pound away from the next , to the next to the future of ur goal!

HOPE I DIDNT BORE ANYONE...I AM STRUGGLEING MYSELVE EVERYDAY BUT I WONT GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tammy- I think I got what you meant! As women, and especially as women trying to lose weight, we give way too much power to the scale! I weighed this morning before my shower, and got pissed. Weighed again after my shower and dang if I wasn't up 2 pounds from 10 minutes before. But my clothes fit better, and yesterday I wore a pair of new jeans I bought 2 months ago in a smaller size.
I get bummed because it has taken me 3 months to lose 18-20 pounds, but I needed to be reminded that if not for dieting like i have, I could be UP those 20 pounds.
I don't care how long it takes, I will be down 30 more pounds!
    Thanks for your post

A pound lost is a pound lost. I know I should be happy about losing at least one pound, but when you have so many to go, a couple of pounds would be nice. I too often let the almight scale determine my mood for the day. I should just be happy not to gain each day. One day at a time, one pound at a time.

Tammy, thanks for all your positive posts. When I first signed on, I thought you worked for the site. If you don't, maybe you should. Or maybe I should try to be as positive as you are. Thanks again!

Chester ..... You are so welcome Today I feel like I work on this site lol but I don't .. as I said in a earlier post with these new forums you can see how many times people look at a post and how me reply , 200 people will look at a post and only 2 reply , I felt like I needed to be a part of the boards more and share as many tips or help someone to be more positive ... I love hearing stories or getting tips or LOOKING at pictures is my favorite .... There's just something amazing at seeing before and after pics...

I dont know if any of you watch golf but thier is a pro woman that lost like a 100 pounds I might be wrong but i think her name is christy keen (not sure ) she has a show on the golf channel will she lost so much weight and she looks 20 years younger and you could never tell she used to be overweight , me and my husband was like WOW that was her ..; So it gave me hope !!! please be positive because the only way you will ever make it to your goal is to think positive , being negative doesn't make you feel any better it actually brings you down and stressed you out and it always doesn't make a person very fun to be around ... I truly believe you can do anything if you just believe .. !!!
