I am married and have 2 children with special needs so they can't talk to me. My husband works 4pm-7am and I have no friends or family because they don't wanna be around our children...Well their the ones missing out not us. Anyways as you can imagine I get very very bored and start eating a lot. There aren't many options on what to do other than clean house and watch Tv. Today we managed to go for a mile walk but due to my daughter's health problems we couldn't walk very far. I don't know what to do about the eating. What do you all do to avoid this?

This is what all I have ate today.... Breakfast: Apple Lunch: Hamburger helper, mashed potatoes, 2 brown and serve rolls, and asparagus. Snack: Full bowl of ice cream next snack: Fiber one bar.

I'm really upset with myself I normally don't due this bad. I'm on WW so this is over my points I'm sure. I seem to do very well except for when my husband is home. I know he doesn't make me eat, but I only cook for the 2 of us and he wants home cooked meals. My youngest daughter is Very picky and will only eat certain foods and my oldest can't eat solid foods. It makes it hard to cook meals for 2 and eat healthy when My husband won't. I'm confused and soooo upset. I have been sitting here trying to figure out what to cook for myself but figured I would get on here instead. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks for listening. Also I haven't took my Phen today I'm trying to take a break from it so that I can get better results. Right now I'm stuck at a 13lb loss.

Hi Regina.. I am new to the DB and new to Phen. I just wanted to respond and give you a little encouragement. First, I am sure your children are beautiful humans and your friends are only missing out on a valuable experience to interact with people who might be a little different from themselves. Keep up the walking, no matter how short, it's all about getting out and getting some fresh air -- for you and the kiddos.

Second, sounds like you just need some healthy and new snack and meal options..

Chicken or tuna salad stuffed into a pretty red bell pepper with a side field greens salad.

Any grilled meat, fish or chicken on the outdoor grill with your favorite veggie.

7-bone roast in the crock pot and use the cooked meat to make tacos. Warm corn tortilla on flat pan, no fry and use lots of fresh toppings, cilantro, onions, avacado, salsa, etc.

As for snacks, hard boiled egg (egg salad), string cheese, handful of your favorite nuts, seasonal fruit, 100 calorie packs, SF jello, etc.

Best of luck to you on this journey of losing weight.. we all know it's not an easy one.

First of all don't be so hard on yourself, you need to look at the positives. You have a family that loves and needs you.My husband works the nightshift as well,7p-7a and I end up alone with the kids at night for homework, baths, bedtime ect... because he is never here.Plan some time in your day for yourself,do the kids go to school or any special programs? If not see what they may be eligible for.If the kids are always home perhaps your husband can watch them for a short time just so you can walk by yourself or do a tape.I like Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds. You can do these right in front of the tv and they are mostly walking in place and some light weights.I also have a treadmill in front of the tv to walk on.You already walked 1 mile today, congratulate yourself. It is good for the kids to walk some to their ability also.Any family members that don't want to be around the kids becuse they have some problems should be ashamed of themselves.DOn't give up hope and get in a rut, keep trying.
You are probably eating more today without the Phen.I have just restarted the Phen myself and found I have to take 3/4 of the 37.5mg,I used to take 1/2.If I take the whole tablet I get nasty and anxious.Get back on track and don't forget to take care of yourself as well as the kids.
See if you can find a hobby,I make beaded jewelry and I pull it out at night when I need something to keep my hands busy. Can you do crochet or painting? Take a walk through the craft store and look for something you enjoy doing and can distract you.I like Dr. Phil's book with the 7 keys to weight loss,he goes into great detail with finding alternatives to emotional and boredom eating.
Also as far as cooking for your husband,I love the Healthy Exchanges cookbooks and website.Joanna Lund has a website and great cookbooks. One in particular is the Cooking Healthy With A Man In Mind,it has great recipes that you can make for your husband that don't taste like diet meals and include desserts as well.I am doing the WW flex plan and like the healthy exchanges cookbooks much better than the WW cookbooks.
I guess I got a little long here, don't give up!We can do this if we just keep trying,we won't always be perfect ,but we will keep working at it.

Thanks! I actually have the walk away the pounds dvd. I've been able to do the 1 mile so far. I want to work up to the 2 and 3 mile. I really do need to look for those cookbooks. I would love to get the Healthy with a man in mind. Could you please pm me that website?? I would appreciate it! I think I really do need to try to find a hobby...Just don't know what to do. I think next time I'm in the store I'll take a look. I live in a VERY small town and we have NO craft stores. My kids are out of school for the summer, so it's hard to get out. I'm trying to stay online to keep my mind off eating! I really want to eat dinner, but after all I've had today I really don't want to eat. Thanks for all the tips!

it sounds like you have your plate full!! i might be way off but, it sounds like you might be depressed. are you taking anything to treat your depression? i just recently started to take prozac to help with my baby blues-not to mention it being a phenpro combo-so, it works w/phen.

i take 1/2 37.5 phen w/ 20mg prozac in the a.m. Since ive started prozac, i feel like a NEW person. im happy-go-lucky, i dont have moodswings, and my kids dont aggravate me as much! (WOOHOO! )

i know what you mean about not having friends or family to visit you... i just moved away from my family and NO ONE will come see me!! and i basically lost most of my friends a few years back once i got married. i left the lifestyle i once lived-and they didnt.

everyone else who posted, had great recommendations regarding food and exercise but, if your depressed, THAT needs to be treated FIRST-before you worry yourself w/diet and exercise. if your not mentally "healthy" you cant expect your body to be...

Hiyya there I'll agree with what everyone else said and add a bit of something...how about eating breakfast? Something with protein so that when you get to lunch you don't feel so hungry? An apple is great but it is also filled with sugar so you need something to balance that out so your blood sugar levels aren't all over the map I've taken to eggs...tons of ways to cook them (or egg beaters, less fat...you can have 1/2 a cup for 1 point..add a slice of FF cheese and you have 2 pts...add in your apple and you are up to 3 pts for breakfast and its full of protein. How about a salad with lunch...cut up some veggies and use them for a snack instead of the ice cream which is probably what made you crave or want the fiber one bar (I'm not sure but if you check the label its probably filled with sugar)K, long story short and this is only my opinion...start your day off with something high in sugar (even natural sugar) and you are setting yourself for an entire day of trying to keep your blood sugar from crashing...a constant eating binge.
