Anyone else on Cymbalta? I've gained 10 lbs in the last few weeks. I read the post on anti-deppressents and Cymbalta was not on there. I've been on effexor and prozac and sweared these made me fat. I also just recovered from a broken foot and was on pain killers. Do these slow down my metabolism?

I know I'm posting a lot...just need some help????

I was on Cymbalta when I started Phen and hated it. I didn't gain any weight on it but it made me soo tired, and being on Phen for the first time ever, I was still taking 2 hour naps every day. My doctor switched me to welbutrin andI love it! It has the lowest risk of weight gain, tiredness, and sexual side effects. I don't know how long you have been on it, but the sexual side effects on cymbalta was awful... well for my husband any way

I have been on cymbalta for about a year and a half. I took phen for 4 months last year and lost 33 pounds. I gained back 5 and now am trying phen again to lose the last 15 I wanted to get rid of. Anyway, I was on Paxil and gained 55 pounds in 6 months. I went on effexor-xr and it didn't work that well for me. The cymbalta has been the best for me and with the phen I think it is similar to the phen-pro combination. My doctor told me that cymbalta doesn't affect the seratonin levels the way the others did and that I shouldn't have the weight gain on it...I haven't but then again, I was on phen 1/2 the time. There are so many kinds of these drugs out there, I would talk to your doctor and try different ones until you find what is right for you.

I have been on Cymbalta for almost a year now and have not gain weight from it, unlike other SSRI's, in fact I lost weight from it. However, I took it with another med called Topamax which helped with the weight loss. But, I do know Cymbalta is suppose to help decrease the appetite.

I was never on cymbalta...I took Paxil years ago and gained a TON of weight and was always sleeping. I will NEVER go on any type of antidepressant again, I'd rather be depressed than fat...unless I was suicidal then I wouldn't mess with it again but that's just ME.

Look up side effects of cymbalta and see if weight gain is listed ....I bet money that it is.....alot of those SUI drugs make you gain...
