Thread: Why can't they make all clothes the same size?!

Mini vent here and I'm sure the ladies can relate. Why is it that when you go shopping for clothes you can not by the same size in each store? Or in each department for that matter?!

Seriously, I do not know if I should by a 12 or a 16 and that's a HUGE difference in sizes to someone who is trying to lose weight. Right now I'm wearing a pair of size 16 shorts from wal-mart and they fit PERFECTLY. I have two shorts from there in a 16 that fit well. I have size 12 jeans from Old Navy that have 1% spandex in them, not enough to give THAT much. I bought another pair of size 12 jeans from old navy with NO spandex and I can't get them over my thighs. I went shopping two weeks ago at Burdines and Macy's and every single thing I put on was a 14 and fit PERFECTLY. I can see them getting loose which is why I bought the 12s. The stretch 12s are just a tad snug but the reg 12s won't fit at all.

    It's MADDENING!

At least with guys if you're a 34 inch waist you're a 34" waist, they can't screw up and label a 34" waist pants 28" 'just because' .

Vent over, thanks for listening. You may resume your regular posting habits.

Oh girl I hear you! That used to drive me bonkers! Now I know that I'm a size 7/8 at Old Navy and Aeropostale, so I only buy my pants at those two places. At Sears I was a size 9 in their Canyon River Blues brand, so I didn't buy them. I'm now a "size snob!"

Just for the record in mens clothing (and man don't I wish I were a 34" waist...lol) different labels do cut their pants differently. The waist may fit for the most part but the legs certainly don't!! The type of material matters as well.

Now why they can't just use waist size for woman is beyond me...but they screw you ladies at every turn..hair cuts cost more..dry cleaning cost more..but thats a different thread for a different day!!

    This annoys me too!

I've often noticed 34" waist pants actually be 36 or 37 inches. WTH?

    I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!!!!
And what is with jrs, misses, womens, plus...can we just have one sizing chart...!!!
because a 13/14 jrs, 14 misses, and 14 womens are all different sizes!!!! and it gets no better as you go down the scale...i average an 8...but i can be anywhere from a 6-12 depending on the store or brand name...
ALSO!!! Want to know how we are really getting duped?????
Try on a pair of jeans from a decade ago....
I pulled out some size 8's from pre children years...they wouldnt even go past my thighs...my size 7 wedding dress...total NO GO!!!
so although i am totally pleased with my progress I know its not the same...

Heck, I have size 14 pants from three years ago that don't fit now. Consistency is just not there in the clothing industry.

I know what you mean. My pants for work are huge on me, but a pair of jeans the same size arent!
