Just heard about CLENBUTEROL

Hi I just heard about this new drug for horses that people use to lose weight called Clebuterol.

I am really nervous that Phen might have the same ingridients. I heard it is extremely dangerous. Does anyone know about this?

I have heard of it.. It is actually a type of steriod is what I was told.. and yes I heard it will help you loose weight but is more designed for bodybuilders cause you use in in conjunction with eating high protein and heavy weights.. I dont think it is anything like phen..

yeah, i just watched that too..on the morning show. i was thinking the same thing. i doubt if its the same thing. doctors prscribe phen so i dont think it would be that harmful as the other pills.

You are right about the DRS. prescribing it. I know my Endroconlogist did (Thyroid DR) but there are people on this message board who don't go thru a DR. for it. They can get it online.

It just worries me because what if it is really dangerous for us. I have a little boy who I have to take care of and I have my family I have to think of too. I can't be selfish like that just to lose a few pounds. I am beginning to think that maybe I shouldn't be taking this even though my DR prescribed it. Drs aren't always right.

No you are right-Dr's arent always right, but let me tell you a little story-I went on phen several yrs ago-lost aloty of weight-like 55 lbs or so-when I went on the phen I had high blood pressure-so that was a concern, but as I lost weight the blood pressure came down, (I was also on low carb with the phen) my cholesterol went to 168-I felt so much better-and phen is one of the longest weight loss drugs to be prescribed. It of course isnt right for everyone, but think for most under a docs care, this is a good tool to help in weight loss, and therefor a healthier you. There are pros and cons, and maybe you should talk to your doctor about your concers. Cindy

My Dr. is away this week so I thought I would turn to the board for advice and support. Unfortunately I didn't speak long enough to my Dr. about it and will when he returns.

I think I am questioning this because I just heard of a young mother who past away this week and left 3 little boys motherless. I just want to know for sure that this a safe drug. I had never heard of it til my Dr prescibed it to me.

Wrong! Clenbuterol is not a steroid ladies...it is used to treat asthma. I have used it in the past and it works great..but I had to buy it in the black market. Bodybuilders use it to burn fat while retaining muscle but it is not a steroid. Does it work? heck yeah! but it is expensive unless you know a Dr. that can prescribe it for you. And about Phen..what can I say, it doesn't work the same on all bodies. I have never had high blood pressure while on phen or off phen. I have had the common side effects you get with phen (dry mouth, loss of sleep...and great WEIGHT LOSS)
Ladies, as always get a physical before trying any new drug and go to your Dr. every 2-3 months while on phen just to be safe, but honestly I have never heard of anybody dying or getting real sick because of it. Good luck!

Ditto on what Cindy, George and others said. Phentermine has been around for so long, it's a household word. I can't do it cuz I have leaky valves. But other members of my family do take the phen and are pleased. I indeed went to my doc and he said no. If your doc said yes, should be okay.

Clenbuterol is not a steroid. It's a Beta 2 Sympathomimetic. Phentermine is an anorectic. It's a Dopaminergic Sympathomimetic.

These drugs work VERY differently.

Beta 2's are used for their bronchodilator effect (preventive and curative treatment of asthma) and their uterine relaxant effect (treatment of risk of preterm delivery). They cross the blood brain barrier. Clenbuterol specifically, is very long acting (24 hours) versus phentermine (4-6 hours).

Dopaminergics do not cross the blood brain barrier, making them an indirect sympathomimetic and far lessening their danger. Drugs with indirect sympathomimetic activity are used as vasoconstrictors, CNS stimulants and anorexiants, antidepressants, and antiparkinsonians.

I realize my rambling probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's difficult to explain this without writing a book. The point I'm trying to make is that Clenbuterol is NOTHING like phentermine. Their actions are not the same, the way they affect your brain and body are not the same and their side effects are not the same. Clenbuterol permanently changes the makeup of your deep muscle tissue, including your heart.

I saw a report last week about Clenbuterol being taken by movie stars, etc. to lose weight, so I did some research. It was once an asthma drug, or bronchilator, and is now being used for vet purposes. It is NOT a steroid, like someone else mentioned. It has similar side-effects like Phen, but only because it increases the metabolism. Anything that speeds up your metabolism is likely to have the same sides - it's just how it works.

Phen has been in use for 50 years with problems unlike clenbuterol.

The interesting thing I discovered in pouring over countless bodybuilding boards and websites trying to sell me something illegally was that for the obese or very overweight, clenbuterol won't help much. It's effects are best seen in those who only need to cut a few pounds of fat, like bodybuilders, not those with quite a few pounds of fat to lose. In one study, it made obese mice lose fat like crazy, but they could never reproduce the same fat-loss results in humans. Logically it would seem the more fat = better loss, but it doesn't seem to be the case with this particular drug.

The drug is like phen in that your body gets aclimated to it with use and you have to have more and more of it to see results, but the side effects seemed to be much more pronounced (at least from those I read who told their stories) than what I've seen reported here on phen. Women seem to notice the side-effects moreso than men also.

If you are under a doctor's care, you *should* be fine with phen.

That being said, this sudden increase in public awareness with clenbuterol is bound to increase sales of the illegal drug to a lot of desperate folks.

There is no safe drug in the world. Not even over the counter. I weigh out my options. I am severely obese and could keel over dead any day because of it. So do I want to try and lose weight and get healthty ny taking phen, or try on my own and most likely fail and die fat? The answer for me is simple, phen of course. Phen has been around a verrrry long time. Ive known people who have taken it over the yrs with no probs, and of course folks here.

the things that i love about the phen is that it works, but if you dont do anything it wont. i know that alot of other pills are like that, but this is the first pill that i have ever taken that if you dont eat, you wont lose weight. i thought that was so wierd but its true. also, the weight stays off if you keep it off. i was preg twice in 6months and kept the weight off. i m/c of course, but that is good for me. i love the phen. i would never have taken nothing that i would have to pay so much for, but i must say...its worth it. even my hubby likes me taking it and that is the coolest thing. its hard to convince him...hes a typical man (no offense men...but its hard to change a mans mind sometimes...not a bad thing). so i like it.

having taking clenbuterol I can also said that for my purposes it worked wonderful. I used to lift weights and it increased my strength so I was able to lift more. This is why some people say that it is a steroid but its not. Stick with Phen.
