Hi, Everyone! Hope your all doing good. Well, I've got this week and next week and I'm done with phen. I'm so sad, I love phen it has helped me so much! But I have made a promise to myself that I will continue to lose weight and work out everyday. And I will still come here for support. I'm going to still be weighed every two weeks at the docs office also. Does everyone here have to stop taking phen after the 12 weeks? My doc says that federal law prohibits the dispenseing to anyone on it after the 12 weeks is up "Three months" Just wondering if anyone has been on it longer than 12 weeks and have they had any major side effects?

Take care and everyone and happy health and weight loss!
p.s. lost 2 more pounds gone!!!!! "WooHoo!"

    Cutiebear,
I just got taken off my phen I was on it for 12 weeks also. My doctor just thinks it's time. She said it gave me the jump start I needed. I havent heard anything about the side effects after 12 weeks but who knows. I hope you do well after going off. I did struggle at first but now trying to get back on track

I've been taking Phen since November, but not everyday though, maybe 2-3 times a week some weeks then everyday on other weeks.

On my last visit with my doctor, I mentioned to him that once I hit my goal, I was going to stop taking Phen.....seems the right and obvious thing to do right?? He said that he suggest to his patients to never stop taking it. Not to take it as frequent as "current" patients do, but to always have a "supply on hand" for those days when the "hard times" hit. Maybe it's his pocketbook talking, but it does seem like a good idea to have some in the medicine cabinet....you know just like asprin, you take it only when you absolutely need it.

But there are a LOT of people on the forum who have been taking Phen longer then 12 weeks.

Yeah-You could get it via the internet like most of us do if you doc. cuts you off.

It's something called "off label" use when a dr. prescribes more than 12 weeks but some will.

My doctor said i could take it as long as it works for me and causes no problems. i have been on phen going on 5 months. I have about 40 pds to go to reach my goal and I was 100 pds overweight.if my doc wouldnt give me more I would order online. I was in a size 18 pants and tight, now i'm in size 8 to 10 depending on brand. I love it. I hope you get your phen back or can do it without it. best wishes. june

I've been taking it since October, with one month off in there because I thought it wasn't working as good. But my doctor has given me a prescription every month. He told me the state mandates that as long as you lose a certain percentage in the first 3 months that you can keep taking it as long as needed. He also said that I could keep taking it as long as I continue to lose. So maybe it varies by state?

Kind of like wannabslimmer's doc though too - he said I should keep a month supply around and take it when needed, and only come see him every 3 months or so when I need another prescription. I'm not sure I'll really do that but it's good to know the options. He takes it himself when he gains a few pounds, and only takes it for a short time until he loses it. I was a little discouraged when he told me that when you go off of it you'll gain weight back. I don't plan on that!
