ive been on phen for 3 weeks and 1 day... i am doing the usual. lots of water, and watching what i eat with some exercise. Thursday i was down to 214.5 and today back up to 217.. im kinda bummed about it... because i think i can do better than that. when i look at myself, i cant see any weight gone.
I dropped from a 14/16 to a 10, went from 189 to 155, so at 34lbs I dropped about 3 sizes, but it depends on the designer and the way the clothes are cut.....I can still wear a 12 in some things that are cut small, just as I could wear a 14 when I was at the higher weight if they were cut generous....but overall, I'd say 3 sizes....but it will be different depending on where you actually "wear" your weight and what type of clothes you are talking about.
I am one size "technically" up from my oldest daughter who is a Junior in high school. But I weigh about 12 lbs more then she does and I am 2 inches taller then her.....so basically its about right.....but I could not wear the same kind of clothes, not made for me....not at my age or my body type.....ya know?

when i started phen 3 weeks ago i was in a tight squeeze 20 wide.. and 16 pounds lighter now in 18 medium. Kindly wierd. b/cuz the last time those pants fit me i was no bigger than 200 pounds. i guess doing exercise really helps, to tone your body up. But when i look at myself, i cant tell i have lost any weight.
Agree with Carrie, it depends on the maker, but generally 10 pounds = 1 size for me.

Interesting thread I did not keep up with how much weight to lose a size but I went from a size 12 dress pants to a size 2 dress pants with a 44 lbs lose so 9 lbs a size for me.
Past Phen Dieter
Here now to offer support.
well, looks like everyone is about the same.. my goal weight is 150.. so if i loose 67 more pounds i might be in a size 10 or 11... woo hoo.. yeah i wish..lol
I think there is more weight "give" in the larger (women's) sizes than in Misses sizes due to the fact us larger women fluctuate more monthly. I have a 20 lb range to fit in a size 22 and also into a size 20, but as I get smaller (praying here) the differences are more pronounced. I think in a tiny size like a 6, even 5 pounds would make a huge difference whether pants fit. Could just be my crackpot theory though.
It is all different, depending on body style. I am 170 and wear at 14 comfortable. I am also a strait figure. I loose form my legs, hips and butt forst. I started at 210 size 20 loose and I am now at 170 size 14. So I lost 40 pounds and dropped 3 sizes, so it is more like 15 lbs per pant size for me...

this thread is actually depressing for me, lol. I have lost 50 pounds so far... started around size 22, and now I still wear a size 20... I can see in pictures that I appear a little smaller, but I see people that lose 25 pounds and is a major difference, and with me, I can barely tell...well keep up the good work guys!
hmm. im wearing a size 20 at 230 pounds....
i wonder what i will be at 150?
if its 10 pounds a size that would be a 4 right? but i doubt that. i have a huge ***,lol.
I guess everyone is different. i weight 223 and wear a size 16 pants. I just started Monday, i am excited to see what size pants i wear when i drop 20 to 30 pounds!!

I have lost 13.5 lbs since Jan 1st and have gone down one pant size from a 10 to an 8. Some of my 8s are getting too big so I might even be in a 6 soon. I hope this helps!

I agree with kicking the scale that the higher size ranges are a little longer worn. I know that for me when I weighed 235 I was a 22, but at my highest 300 I was a 28. 3 sizes there. So for larger womens sizes I would say closer to 20 pounds and then lower sizes I think are more like 10 pounds, but of course it varies on your problem areas. Mine is my stomach so I tens to lose weight everywhere else first. Which deals with that dreaded pant size...
They (clothing manufacturers) know that heavier women are usually poorer and also dread buying clothes so they make the plus sizes with more give in the waist hips and thighs I think. Smaller people will buy clothes that fit exactly and want that perfect fit, not just something that gets on in the morning and will TRY ON the clothing at the store to guarantee it fits before buying it. So, I think they work on tailoring smaller jeans/pants to fit better.
I used to lose weight in my stomach FIRST before I grew this horrible belly later on.
I still think they ignore the tailoring/styling of larger size clothes, especilly the cheaper ones, and to get something that dosen't make one look like a house frau in a plus size one must spend money. there is really no excuse for Kmart's plus size clothes. Sometimes I think they make them as a joke.
it is funny how people differ, iam 6'1 and 230 and a size 16, but my legs are thin and my butt, its my stomache, the front of the pant folds over! if i go up a size same thing happens but nw the pants are too loose around my caboose! ugh being fat ****s! lol
Sounds like ryleeroo and I have the same problem. I'm 5'7 and 232 size 18. I too carry my weight on my stomach and suffer the same problem. Not only am I "plump" but I had all my 4 children by c-section, not to mention a hysterectomy 4 1/2 years ago - cutting into me once more - so now I sport that lovely "apron". What I really hate is how low pants are being made now. Don't get me wrong - I think they're cute on smaller people but not all people are small. Even Lane Bryant mostly sells low riders. What's up with that? Another thing, shirts seem to be getting shorter or more fitted which only exaggerates the pant problem.
I'm excited about the 8lbs I've lost so far and know I will lose lots more but what's a girl to do in the meantime? I'm in AZ so sweats aren't an option! And please don't suggest the "E" word!! I view that the same as some of the communities out here - 55+yrs.

i hear that i am in vegas, first summer here, i am from connecticut! i call my problem a gunt! and no matter what i do its still there, lose weight its there, its always there! it wont go away, it likes me, everyone thinks i am pregnant and i get asked it alot!!!!!!!!!! but the shirt problem, gotcha covered, go to gap, its the only place i shop, they have tall, and tall shirts, and they are long!!!! covering you!
Well, I am 5'5" and 210 and I wear a 16 (a little tight still) - was at 219 and those ******s were really TIGHT but I refused to buy a bigger size!
In the past I've found that it takes between 12-15 lbs for me to go down a size. I carry my weight EVERYWHERE - seriously - it is actually all pretty well proportioned. I've heard that all my life "You carry your weight well" - I'm thankful for that I guess, but I'm sick of it!! I don't want to 'carry my weight' at all! lol
Good luck to you all!

I smoke from the same crackpot as kickingthescale (I concur with how they make larger women's clothes, economics, etc).
Pear issues: I look at size charts a lot in catalogs and online. Currently my measurements are 40-35-45. Which averages a 14 or 16 on top, 18 on bottom in misses and a 12W & 14/16W in plus. I'm rght at that awkward stage where I'm stuck between worlds, manufacturers, etc. Today I am wearing 14WT jeans from Avenue. Yesterday I wore 18T jeans from Ann Taylor Loft. I am a regular XL from OldNavy.
BTW, if you need a dress for any reason, look for the designer Maggy London at fine dept stores. She gets how women are built, and her stuff realy flatters. She makes misses and plus. I have a dress by her which is the only article of clothing I was sad to see no longer fit (a 20W, lonely in the closet). I was stunning in it. Wish I had a picture.

Im in a 20 or 18 now....and I weigh 218, and Im 5'7'....when I weighed 165 I was in a 12/13 sometimes an 11.
so the 10lb theory is pretty accurate.
Hi Resmanoo,
Yes it's about economics...they assume overweight women or housewives or single moms or some other poorer category.
You guys are so lucky being 200 plus and being able to wear less than size 20. I have to be less than 210 or so to squeeze into an 18.
Back before they made the clothes bigger, I wore a 20 at 200 lb.![]()
LOL I'm the same way...being pear shaped majorly ****s...no matter how I exercise and loose, the weight never leaves my hips/absOriginally posted by kicking the scale:
I'm just a pear shaped person doomed to wear the top range of sizes on the bottom..at 150 I USED to wear a 12/14 but I hear they make the clothes bigger since the last time I was in Misses clothes, so, who knows?![]()
God was cruel to us, keriidiru...I noticed I had suddenly developed huge thighs at age 12! I wasn't even heavy for my height! One day, maybe I will get lipo on these ugly things if I ever get close to goal..and my butt, don't even go there! I got close to having thin legs @120 lb...my thighs were 20 in..is that considered small? I was only 14 at the time.
At my heaviest 269, I was in size 20...now down to 251, I comfortably in a size 16 which is really weird for me. I only lost 18 pounds. But I fit into a pair of my 16's that I have not worn in years. I guess...its maybe from all the working out I have been doing...Toning up a lot. I look at myself and dont really see a difference. But my husband says he does. I dont know. All I know is I am happy get closer to gettin rid of my fat pants!!!
