LAUNDRY DETERGENT!!!!
Bet you didn't expect that. LOL It works Great--Very Cheap--Good for Sensitivities--Gray water can be discharged into gardens. Plus, I enjoy making it. I watch TV or listen to music and smell the stronge clean smells...thinking this was how it was done back in the day.(or so they say ) Something very cathartic....OMMMMMMMMM.My immediate family thought I was nuts---now that their friends/coworkers want the recipe...I'm not so crazy I've learned alot on this journey of losing weight and getting healthy. Stumbling on better ways to live and love on this planet. I aspire to be a tree-hugger, no-where near there yet. Just trying to walk a little lighter on the planet any way I can. Today I am going to try and master my new MP3 Juanice Do y'all do/create anything offbeat that could be shared to uplift/inspire/entertain???? |

Ya, I'll also send you a really cool site that the focus is frugality and simple living. Which I found are deffinetly not the same thing
.Eco friendly can be expensive at times. But this sight is awsome and diverse. It has people trying to pair possessions down to 100 items total, financial freedom, no spending challenges for the month, frugal cooking, decluttering(how I found out),so much more and support. Give me a bit and I'll get the info to you. Juanice

mfriga--quote "Does this work for High Effiency machines. Mine requires an HE soap that islow in suds."
Not sure if it does---would be a good "Q" for that site. HERE IT IS FOLKS!!!!!!! Laundry Soap I do a lot of laundry use the powdered form of this recipe. I like the powder recipe because it is easy to store and no cooking it. 1 bar Fels Naptha or Zote or Lirio(Laundry Soap) or Ivory (These are low sudsing) 1 cup borax—20Mule Team 1 cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda-not baking (This is what makes up 99 % of the oxy-cleans) To measure out, I use a little ¼ measuring cup. You can pre-treat heavy stains with some dish soap with good results. You can also use your leftover little slivers of soap in it. Three main ingredients-- If your water is hard or soft determines the amount of each that works best and how much per load. Some only use a tablespoon per load, I use more. I found I like to grate the soap on a hand grater, but you can use a food processor. There are liquid recipes.... using same ingredients, plus water and you cook it and get a gelatin product. Glad I checked back...... found Dishwasher Detergent Homemade dishwasher powder: In a cannister mix equal parts Baking soda & borax. Use 2 TBSP per load and vinegar as the rinse agent. If you live in a hard water district increase baking soda component 2:1. I was really leary about posting---more because of the stuff going on here. Please don't let the poison spread---these people are really good to me. http://www.simpleliving.net/forums/ Yes, I'm trusting....but right now that is all I have. Thanks Juanice |

Thanks, I'm very into natural cleaning products, so if you ever see anything similar, please feel free to post or PM!
BTW where do you find Arm & Hammer washing soda?? I make my own fruit and veggie wash, I'll post the recipe here. 2 T. Lemon juice 2 T. Baking soda 1 c. water 1 c. vinegar (optional: about 10 drops of grapefruit seed extract) Mix and put in a spray bottle. Spray fruits/veggies and allow them to sit for 5 minutes. Rinse. I also make my own bar soap and spray cleaners. This was a great thread, thanks! Amy

Arm & Hammer washing soda??
It is found on the detergent isle. Usually by the Borax. You can substitite Oxyclean but the A&H is only like 2.99 per box. |

I'm not fond of the perfume in oxyclean, but I use borax for some other things so I'm sure I'll find the A&H. I usually use anything "free and clear" for washing clothing, but this looks like a less expensive and more natural endeavor. How does it do on colors? I'm very picky about my clothing fading.
