    Unhappy

I have been on Phentermine for 4 months and lost about 30 lbs, however my prescription is out and my doc doesn't want it refilled. I feel like it would be beneficial for me to be on this longer, I have an additional 60 lbs I would like to lose. Should I try a new doctor or just deal with it? Has anyone had good luck going to a weight loss clinic and what are my chances of getting this prescribed again rather than being told about yet another diet to try?

I think you should try a clinic, If you still want to lose 60 more why not. I go to a clinic and they seenm to prescribe based on BMI. Good luck and I hope it works for you!

Oh, yes, try a clinic. My clinic asked NO questions or gave my any lectures. They were/are very professional and upbeat. Besides, what is the worst a clinic can say "no?"

I would also call your doc back and schedule an appt. Explain how much progress you have made, how you are changing your habits, etc. The doc might just agree to do another 3 or 4 months based on progress. It's worth a try..

I agree with the above. The weight loss clinic I have been at has been wonderful. They know the medication works, but they're very strict on making sure you change your lifestyle habits. Try googling "weight loss clinic" and your state, and I'm sure you'll find a list of several near you. Good luck!

Where do you find the afore mentioned clinics? I was referred to one it the cost was going to be almost $1000 for the first month and ~$350 per month there after, plus medication costs and food alternative costs. I felt this was slightly unreasonable. Unfortunatley I am part of an HMO that doesn't prescribe phentermine, so my normal doctor cannot write an **.

shygirl- that seems an outrageous price!.. OMG.

I would google "medical weight loss" or "bariatric clinics" in your area. Hopefully you can find one who is not trying to rip people off. Like I said, my clinic asked no questions and didn't treat me like a failure. You are welcome to look at their site, although it's in CA.

weight no more dot com - of course no spaces, in Newport Beach, CA.

oh, lot's of people's insurance does not cover this type of stuff, so most are paying out of pocket. Is is possible your doc will prescr1be for you and you pay the full cost of the drug? Might want to ask him.. I find it funny he would not be able to write that drug... more of a matter of the insurance offsetting the cost of the prescr1ption.

Mich, you might want to ask your doctor his reasoning in making that decision. My doctor told me initially it would be 4 months on then 4 months off so that I don't get addicted or build up a tolerance to it.
