Is anyone a member? I'm going in today for a free consultation. They said in the first week I could lose up to 5 pounds. I really need something to jump start me. I'm feeling less and less motivated lately. I've lost 36 lbs already and still have 26 more to go so hopefully they'll give me the motivation I need to reach my goal.

I tried it a long time ago but I have to admit it was sort of hard to follow and was very restrictive. Then one day one of the lady were so mean to me because I had eatten chicken nuggets that I never went back.

Plus the bars they want you to eat were pretty nasty.

Just my opinion that doesnt mean to much... Good Luck some things work better for others...

Make sure you read the small print before you sign anything.

I've had a couple of people tell me they were "pushed" to sign contracts without really knowing what they were signing. The sales people would say all the right things (meaning telling you what you wanted to hear) but the contracts would say something different.

I've heard it does work, just read the contract carefully before signing.

I think it can be a successful program, just like any of the others. I followed it a few years ago, but wasn't very committed. I thought it was very expensive, because not only do you pay for the program, but then you have to buy those bars every week. They also try to sell you supplements and other things (I believe they work on a commission). In addition, I had to weigh-in at least twice a week....if I remember correctly. I just remember I was there a lot!

I agree with Amy who said it was very restrictive. Back when I went they had cards and you could only eat what was on that list.

Make sure you ask lots and lots of questions and understand what is required of you before you fork out loads of money!

I did LA WeightLoss like 3-4 years ago...it was alright, I think I lost 20lbs or so, it just became such a hassle to have to run back there 2 times a week and I just started to feel like it was a scam with them always pushing there $20.00 box of bars and saying your not going to loose the weight you want without them.

How many times can you tell people you are a broke college student.

Who knows...things change but I would not do it again!

I agree totally. Those bars were a complete rip... I forgot about how much they were I think I had a block because of how bad they tasted. I remember them telling me to buy a months supply for 250.00 so that I could lose the weight I wanted...

I forgot about that... Thanks for the reminder. And the weighing in twice a week.. I knew I had a bad taste in my mouth for a reason.. Also the before and after polaroids were not even taken in that office. Oh geezze its all coming back now..

Sorry...

I did a report for one of my classes about the various weight loss programs and LA Weightloss ranked as one of the worst. The counselors, or whatever they call them, are just salespeople who usually don't have any background in diet or nutrition. I've heard a lot of reports that they are really pushy when it comes to buying their supplements.

Just my opinion, but I really like Weight Watchers. It teaches you how to live a healthier life and cope with eating in restaurants and holidays. They have a lot of weight loss foods available, but they don't pressure you into buying them at meetings (most are available in the grocery store anyway).
Yeah but no but yeah but no...

LOL. Thanks for your opinions everyone. I'll be sure to keep everything in mind. There's this coupon to print out online that says 4 dollars a week for the membership. I'll be using that and we'll see what they have to throw at me. I'll let everyone know.

I would try Weight Watchers but they don't have any around here. I would be all over it! I really need the support and not just what to eat so we'll see.

Wow, I wish I'd of read this earlier. I did L.A. weight loss and lost about $1,200.

If you have a coupon for $4 a week, that's better than what I paid, but keep in mind that it's not pay-as-you-go. They will ask you how much weight you want to lose and then calculate how long it will take at 2 lbs. per week. You have to pay for the whole program in advance. So if you say you want to lose 26 lbs, they will take 13 weeks multiplied by the $4.00. Already you are at $52. That's not too bad, but then the cost of the bars (there are soups and other things too, not just bars) is just awful. They will try and get you to buy enough for your whole program up front by offering a discount. Then, they figure in maintenace weeks, etc.

Provided you can follow the program you WILL lose weight. You have to visit 3X a week and they will make you feel like the scum of the Earth if you gain weight. Once I had a cookie and I remember the counselor looking at me so disappointed and saying "ohhhh amy, don't you want to be beautiful?" ugh.

I lost about 10 lbs. I've heard they've made some changes to their program, so I'm anxious to hear what you find out!

Amy

I've heard they've made some changes
