    I havent done alot of research on the green tea tablets, but I did on CLA.

    For any who hasn't visited; please read

    If you take the Tonalin brand; it is derived from natural safflower oil, which is not addicting or harmful.

    First, CLA helps reduce body fat, and second, it helps maintain lean muscle tissue.

    CLA stands for conjugated linoleic acid—a fatty acid known for promoting good health.

    CLA is already in the foods we eat, Beef and dairy used to be our biggest source of CLA.

    Today, the recommended daily dose of CLA is 3.4 grams. To achieve that level through your diet, you would have to consume more than 4 gallons of ice cream, seven pounds of beef, or almost 4 gallons of whole milk. Every day.

    To me, being overweight, is as much of a strain on our bodies as supplements are. Diabetes, heart attacks, strokes are all possible with obesity also.

    Guys you all know the benefits of CLA, some do not. It is evident to me that the one who posted earlier about the "dying to be thin" has not done ANY research. The phen itself has a lot more negative side affects then the CLA or the green tea for that matter, but it's important enough for her to consume the phen... We are not idiots who are just stuffing anything we can get our hands on down our throats, we actually research it. For me and probably for all of you who are actually working hard to get this stubborn weight off are doing what we believe to be best for us. If taking the CLA is not your thing, then don't take it. Though, in my opinion you are making a mistake because research and clinical studies show that CLA is a very wise supplement. In addition to the post above by Mia, CLA fights cancer and is also boosts your immune system.

    Sorry guys for the long post, I just thought I would voice my opinion, and let the record reflect that I would rather be overweight than DIE! But by choosing these supplements, I feel I have found a more healthy way to help me rid my body of its excess fat!

    Oh and I wanted to share my weekend. Sat. was my goal deadline, it was a little unrealistic. I didn't make it, but I had my 10 year high school reunion. I weighed in at 133 the day before, that's 19 lbs. lost. Keep in mind that when I graduated high school I weighed 105 lbs. soaking wet! Too thin really, but I was very active in sports and things, plus school food was terrible (I only ate salad for lunch everyday!) Any ways, I went to the reunion and couldn't believe what everyone was saying, they said I look exactly the same!!! I thought yeah right, but I guess I may not be as big as I feel (or they were just being nice) who knows, who cares it made me feel great! I have a large frame and tend to look bigger than my weight reflects. I'm still sticking to it, and I will reach my goal even though I've been stuck for a while, I'll get there!

    Everyone seems to be doing GREAT!! Congrats to all! I wish you all the best of luck!!

    I need some advise please. I actually purchased CLA based on the recommendation by Mona. She was extremely helpful when I went to her for advice. She is such a sweetie.

    Anyway, I kept reading posts here that said taking CLA done have some side effects on certain people and one of the the side effects would be upset tummy.

    I'm ashamed to say that this has scared me a little because I have an extremely sensitive tummy and because of this, I have not taken my CLA yet although I very much want to. I know that we're supposed to take it with meals but I was wondering, has anyone experienced anything very unpleasant? I have a very light breakfast and the last thing I need is to be feeling ill during the first part of the day especially when I'm at the office and need to work.

    So, any advise/shared experience would be most appreciated.

    For me it does upset my stomach, even with a meal. I have to take only 1 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.

    It has had some very positive effects on me - I have lost another clothes size and almost 3" in off my waist. I can tell an overall difference in my body too - I can fit into clothes that have been packed in my closet for 6 years.

    I have not lost weight in 10-12 days until yesterday, so it's not water weight or muscle building etc - my husband (who never notices anything) said something about how much smaller my stomach area looks

    I've never gotten an upset stomach with either the green tea or the CLA. And actually, I don't necessarily take it right before, or right after, eating. But, I don't take it on a completely empty stomach either. I guess it depends on the person what kind of effect you will have. I would suggest like they said above, taking 1 first and see how it does.

    Clopez, I also have a very sensitive stomach. The 1st time I took the CLA on an empty stomach and got pretty nausiated, but as soon as I ate I felt fine. I also did some reading on this topic and found that taking the pills with some type of dairy is recommended. I take mine in the a.m. with a Slim Fast Optima shake, and in the evening with fat free milk and my dinner. I haven't had an upset stomach since. I hope this helps you out! Good Luck!

    I CLA. Definitely take it with food. It made me quizzy the first few times I took it but I take my 1st dose right after I eat breakfast and 2nd dose right after lunch and it doesnt bother me anymore. If you want to experiment, take a dose of it when you are at home to see how your tummy is going to react to it and then If you can tolerate it, you can start it the next morning.
    I havent lost weight in several weeks (anything significant)but I have dropped 2 clothing sizes during this time. I have gone from a size 18W (March 06) and was in a size 12 in Aug 06. I am wearing size 8 now. I still have some belly fat but I am LEAN everywhere else. I have not been a size 8 since Jr High and that was 1974. hehehehehe I had lost down to 153 in 2002 but was barely fitting into a size 12 at that time. I had to have a hysterectomy later that year and I just let myself go and eventually gained all of it (and a little more) back. So... size 12 at 153 lbs vs. size 8 at 160 lbs???????
    I was very skeptical about CLA in the begining but I am a firm believer in it now. It does take awhile to see any results (it was about 4 weeks for me)but my body is shaping up nicely now. In my opinion, CLA is about losing inches and fat and not about losing weight. I do not take the green tea everyday like I did before. I think I have built up immunity to it. I am using phen during the week and give myself a break on the weekend.
    Sorry this post is getting so long.......... One more thing I would like to add, for anyone who feels like CLA is not a good idea, I have seen it in several of the fitness mags that I have been getting and I have not seen anything negative about it or on the internet for that matter.

    joggrri, You're doing great! Wow you must be working your tail off (literally)! Size 12 in Aug. and now a month later size 8! What are you doing for a workout? How many calories are you taking in? I agree with you about the weight... I'm not moving the scales, but I had to buy smaller jeans and shirts! I can finally wear Jr's again! Yay!

    I have been taking in about 1000 cal per day during the week and basically just trying to eat healthy on the weekend usually taking in 2000+ cal. As far as exercise I do a 20 min fat blaster on the treadmill, about 20 min on weights for upper body and I got a new little piece of equipment called The Body Shaper that I do about 20 mins. I do all of these every other day. Try to do some sit ups everyday.
    What have you been doing to lose? Sounds like you have been doing pretty well yourself.

    To tell the truth, I have been jumping on the trampoline with my little girl for about an hour 4 or 5 times a week. I have also made my daily house cleaning 'super-charged'... I turn up the stereo and work fast. My daughter really enjoys helping and watching! I hate formal exercise, I have an attetion disorder and I bore easily, so I found a few ways to get some exercise that isn't so boring for me. I generally eat about 1000 calories also. 2 slimfasts a day, grilled chicken, healthy choice veggie soup, special K cereal, for snacks usually 100cal oreos or peanut butter cookies.

    What is the body shaper? I haven't heard of it.

    Oh and i wanted to tell you all what my doc said about dieting... I went to a doctor who deals only with weight issues and his dietician wrote out a diet for me. He said that it is the healthy way to diet and the weight stays off. I haven't started it yet, but for those of you who are starving it may help. It seems like a lot of food to me though. Here's the basics of it.

    1200 cal./day
    No more than 75g fat/day
    No more than 75g carbs/day
    At least 75g protein/day
    At least 64oz. water/day

    He said the most important part of this plan is the protein. When you diet, your body will adapt to the calorie intake which will slow your metabolism. He said that is why we plateau. The protein raises your metabolism even throughout the course of dieting. It may help to keep a food journal because there are a lot of things to keep up with. You may want to google a chart of foods for calories, protein, carbs, and fat. I know that 4 oz of chicken breast grilled has 35g protein, so that is almost half of your proten.
    Just type in calorie chart, protein chart, etc.

    I'll fill everyone in when I start the diet.

    For those who have Trader Joe's by them they have the cla and it's tonalin and cheap big pills though but I think all the cla is.

    Thanks for your advice. You know what? I think I will try taking it during the weekend and if I feel sick, I'm at home so it won't be so bad. I just hope I don't. I'll make sure to take it with my protein shake - hopefully that will help.

    Thanks I was really shocked to have lost so much in 2 1/2 weeks - but I think it's because I have MORE to lose than most do lol

    I think my husband is going to try the CLA since he saw such quick results on me - he only has 10 -12 lbs and would like to lose 2" in his waist.

    I'll keep updating when I have more progress.

    I got my CLA from the vitamin store, buy one get one 1/2 off or free (can't remember). On the bottle it says to take with food, and I found out the hard way why. I tried taking on an empty stomach and couldn't run fast enough to the toilet, major runs. So I now take them with food, haven't taken in a while but will start back up tomorrow.

    Christine (sorry, this is a long post)

    The first week I started Phen I ate maybe 3 times total, I was too drained to exercise.

    Luckily, I'm a water drinker and have no problems getting 100+ oz in daily. I also drink coffee, unsweet tea, but do not touch any type of carbonated drink.

    I am doing a very close Atkins Diet plan from what I remember years ago. I cut out almost all carbs and eat high protein foods so I don't get hungry as fast. Im a carb craver <drool> so this has worked really well for me.

    From week 2 on = I added EAS choc high protein, low carb shakes twice a day and a third if I felt like I need it. I tried Slim fast but they don't fill me up like EAS does for some reason.

    For snacks, if Im hungry I eat whatever fruits and veggies we have here - another great snack is 1 tbsp Natural Peanut butter (high protein and low carb). I really watch the fruits and veggies because of the carbs.

    I eat 1-2 chicken salads (I buy whichever is the lowest carb Ranch dressing). I buy the shredded bagged lettuce and 1-2% shredded cheese (1/4 cup)Chicken; I leave up to how I feel that day - sometimes grilled sometimes a chicken strip or patty.

    Sometimes I eat dinner with my family - whatever I cook for them, but most of the time I am not hungry past 5pm so I don't eat.

    Honestly it just depends on the day and what is going on. Yesterday, I had part of a Chicken sdch from McDonalds because we were out all day, and my husband was fussing at me because I hadn't eaten since lunch the day before.

    I made baked chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and corn for dinner. I ate about 1 tbsp of potatoes and part of a piece of chicken and gave the rest to my hubby lol

    Im going to get bombed here again Im sure. After 2 months of experimenting, I will not do more than 2 days of "formal" exercise or no exercise at all again until I am under 200lbs.

    After my inital week, I started walking 2x per week and lost steadily. On the advice of someone, I added another day or two and saw a weight gain so I didnt exercise the rest of the week and lost the gained lb plus another lb and went back to 2x per week.

    After my 2nd month I quit losing for about 10 days, had a horrible ToM and decided to shock my body and exercise daily, what a mistake.

    I gained 7 lbs one day, then lost 5, I gained 3, then gained 1 all in a week. I really cried, and thought WTH am I doing this for a 7 lb weight gain.

    Im not sure what is going on with my body, maybe I retain water when I exercise, but it's not a good thing. I know I do not get the "high" I used to from exercise - it fatigues me to no end and makes my body ache all over.

    I talked to my dr before and what she told me was muscle weighs the same as fat, but muscle takes up 1/3 less "volume capacity" than fat.
    lol I guess that's dr speak for if you have more muscle you weigh the same and look less.

    I started this week at 247 and have already lost 3 pounds in 4 days on Phen and CLA. I haven't exercised but I have had so much to do during the day I feel like Ive ran a marathon.

    Oh, one last thing: I did go off of Phen for 3 full days in the past week or two, it was like starting over again. When I started back, I took 1/2 pill at 7am and 1/2 pill at 1-2pm, that seemed to help with energy past 7pm

    Oh and another last thing I think Im succeeding because this time Im doing it for me, and I know there is no "magic diet pill" - I made a lifestyle change - I'm not just on a diet.

    I was actually talking about the green tea extract, from my understanding that's a stimulant, but hey, i've been wrong before, maybe i dont' know what i'm talking about.

    I would say it depends on the type of Green Tea tablets/extract you purchase.

    I found both types, with and without caffeine, which might be the only bad thing to intake with Phen.

    I like the Jarrow Formulas - Green Tea Extract Description... Jarrow Formulas Green Tea 500 is water extracted and consists of 40% polyphenols, including 30% catechins.

    Catechins are flavan monomers, the building blocks of OPCs. OPCs, OligoProanthoCyanidins, are polymers (or chains) of flavans. Catechins are generally more bioavailable and more potent an antioxidant than proanthocyanidins.


    Green Tea Extract contains beneficial flavonoids, which are natural phytochemicals.

    Green Tea Extract provides antioxidant protection and health-enhancing properties such as lowering cholesterol levels as well as blood pressure and also enhances the immune system.

    Green Tea Extract may also lower the risk of some cancers and reduce the metastatic potential of cancer cells.

    A new study tested the effect of regularly taking green tea extract (GTE) and found that over 10 weeks, endurance exercise performance was boosted up to 24% with 0.5% GTE supplementation, and 8% with 0.2% by-weight addition to food.

    Reporting in the online edition of the American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology researchers at the Biological Sciences Laboratories of Kao Corp., Tochigi, Japan, said the 8-24% increase in swimming time-to-exhaustion was "accompanied by lower respiratory quotients and higher rates of fat oxidation."

    Hey guys! Great advice. I just bought my CLA and Green Tea today. I hope this works well with my Phen.

    My younger sister had gastric bypass and calls every day to let me know she's catching up to me! We have a goal date of Christmas. The race is on!

    Glandenpi: This was a really rude post, i never accused anyone of being idiots, don't take your low self esteem out on someone who simply voiced a little concern over the general population of this forum. it was an assumption on my part that it wasn't CLA that i was speaking of, it was the green tea extract, which is a stimulant (the one's i've seen anyways are). Scuse me, for not being ready to take one stimulant on top of another, One of which the side effects have to do with a vital organ, (the heart). I'm very new to this phentermine stuff, and i don't take it light heartedly at all. In fact i don't take any diet pill (prescription especially) light heartedly, i'm sure back in the day "phen-phen" WAS considered relatively safe as well, now we know otherwise. so don't be so accusatory. sorry for the long post, just wanted to voice my opinion.

    UPDATE-
    I have been taking the CLA and the Hoodia.....

    Not a lot of weight loss but a HUGE difference on my BELLY FAT-

    I have been working out harder and more often that before too.
    Since CLA is really for people who have an excercise plan (or at least it will work beter from what I have read)
    I also bought buy one get one 1/2 off so Im pretty stocked on it ... very pleased with it, no side effets at all.

    Let me know how you guys are doing!!!

    mni5- I apologize about sounding rude. I guess I just jumped to the conclusion that you were being judgemental. I was wrong, and I'm sorry. Your concerns are very understandable, and I respect that.

    Since I realized you were speaking of the green tea instead of the CLA, I did a little digging and compared the amount of caffeine to other common products containing it. I called the Rexall manufacturer inquiring about the amount of caffeine in their brand of green tea pills, (the ones I bought from Walmart. He said there were 29mg per pill. I take 4 pills a day which comes out to 116mg of caffeine. One 5 oz. cup of coffee is 106-164mg. I don't consume any caffeine besides what's in the green tea b/c the phen still makes me crave water. I can't find anything that says to eliminate caffeine while taking phen, but I plan on asking my dr. next visit. I have met several people on the web who combine the phen, CLA and green tea who haven't reported any problems at all. But if you're concerned, don't take it until you talk to you dr.

    Again, I apologize for being rude the other day, I'm just used to being criticized for using any diet aids, and I thought that's what you were doing.

    hey everyone...i finally started CLA today. Ive been on phen since 8-23, and I just started green tea pills about a week ago also. I really hope this gives me the boost I need. Ive been stuck at my CW for a few weeks now, but I feel undercontrol when food is in front of me (which is amazing!!) I havent weighed myself since last Wed. (been out of town)and I will be returning to my "holy" scale on Tues., hopefully something good will show. I usually weigh myself everyday, which can get discouraging...but i cant resist. I was wondering about exercise... I first started doing 3x a week, and was "scolded" (ina loving and supportivec way) on a forum saying that was the minimum amount to do. Since then I have uped my times, but was wondering what everyone else does when they hit the gym, just to compare.

    I typically do 20 min treadmill (on large incline), then weights, then 20 min. elliptical. But squeezing that much in every time is very challenging with my schedule... so i guess i should say that I try most times to do that.


    What does everyone else do?? any tips are appreciated!

    Thanks for taking the time to share your weight loss experience while on phen. It is helpful for me to know what other people are doing, then I can see where I've gone wrong or where I can improve.

    I am considering doing Atkins induction for 2 weeks. I did it a few years back (without phen) and got some pretty good results. So I will be probably doing that again. Like you, I crave the carbs

    I take Herbalife meal replacement shakes, and they're quite good. The taste is good and I find that they fill me up for a while. And I also did what you did; I took a 3 day break from phen and I've started back on them today. So far, I have lots of energy so that's good.

    Anyway, congrats on your weight loss so far and hopefully all of us will be able to lose a lot more before Christmas.

    glandenpi; apology accepted. thanks. if something works i'm more than willing to try it, but like i said being new to phentermine and knowing that it's an amphetemine scares me. ALOT. like i said, i was REALLY scared to order this stuff, i don't know why, i guess phen to me reminds me of the phen-phen craze and now i see commercials with attorney's asking "have you or a loved one suffered irriversable heart damage or strokes due to phen phen?" YIKES. and i did go to see my doctor to get phentermine and she was all jumpy about it, she had me sign release forms, wanted all kinds of blood work done, she acted like i was asking her to help me committ suicide, so she didn't help my fears either. (and i'm healthy as a horse, aside from being overweight) I didn't go through her, i decided to go through the internet, so i'm kind of doing this NOT under the care of a physician. but i do have insurance so if i need to i will. but thanks again for the apology.

    I started taking CLA and green tea with my phen last week. I lost 5 pounds! Down 14 pounds in less than 3 weeks.

    My husband started taking it too. He is going to weigh today. He has already lost 32 pounds.

    We had so much energy this weekend. We remodeled both of our sons rooms..paint, trim, new carpet, bedding, assembling new furniture, the whole shibang! It was great!

    HELP!!! ok i did the apple detox and lost 6 lbs by friday, i maintained that until sunday, i started cla and green tea pills on sunday and today monday i gained 7 lbs since yesterday, ok i was a little naughty at night but i did not eat 7 lbs of food! i ate 3 slices of pizza, i dont usually give myself a free day anymore specially not eating something like pizza but after basically not eating 3 days i did, o well.. this must be water right, worst case scenario 2 lbs of pizza i mean they were small slices..
