    Default caffeine

    Hello,
Did any of you change or end your caffeine consumption. I gave up pop/soda..but still drink my coffee in the morning. I am now reading and wondering if I should give it up too or limit it. I drink 1/2 caff but from what I am reading coffee can hinder weight loss...hmmm. just wondering.
    thx

I gave it up all together and switched to decaf coffee and only one cup on weekday mornings. I also use splenda instead of sugar. Unfortunately water is just the best! I am getting tired of it but I know I have to have it. Good Luck

I'm actually the opposite, I use to be a huge (no pun intended, lol!) mocha drinker...like every day, sometimes 2 X a day! So, now I've limited those to 1 or 2 small ones a week. The other days I drink 1 or 2 cups of regular coffee with regular International Delight creamer. I make sure to count the calories in the creamer but I'm trying not to deprive myself. I'm the type of person if I tell myself I can't have something then that is ALL I think of and I don't stop until I have it ten fold. Sometimes I get the Sugar Free or Fat Free but most times I get the kind I really like and I just make sure to measure it!
A few weeks I've had really low losses like .6 and .8 but that was due to how I ate not the coffee. I have given up soda though, even diet and only drink water, once in awhile I'll add crystal light to it. I also drink diet cranberry juice too.
Make changes but make sure it's things you can live with! Good luck!

I've never noticed caffiene to make a difference to weight loss. I mean it is just a stimulant. Phentermine is a stimulant too!

If the caffiene comes from soda then yeah it will hurt you but it isn't really the caffiene - its all the calories and sugar from the soda.

I find drinking one cup of coffee every morning is actually helpful to me. It fills me up pretty well in the morning and it is a diuretic, so it helps keep off some of the water weight.

    Default Thanks

I agree to not deprieve myself of something I enjoy...so will keep one cup in, in the morning. I use fat free half and half...I was reading how the caffeine metabolizes to food quicker and has the potential to increase appetite. I think I will counteract with some protein.
    I appreciate you input...
    thx again

I couldn't drink my coffee anymore on Phen. Everytime I would try to have some, I'd have difficulty breathing. It was too much for me. It would level out when I would keep drinking the water so I have just gotten to the point where I no longer drink coffee. I also gave up my afternoon diet coke. I always felt like I had to have it in the afternoons to keep me going but with the Phen, I don't feel that way and seem to have enough energy to make it through without.

I do still have a cup of green tea on days I go into the office for work but I find that I never finish it. I think it's more the process of holding the cup and just kind of gearing up for the days work because when I'm at home, I never even think about it anymore.

When I was put on Phen for the first time a few years ago my Dr. strongly warned me about mixing caffeine or any other stimulant with Phen. That is could be highly dangerous and increase risks of stroke or heart attack, weather we feel it at the time or not.
I stuck strictly to what he said and did not have any caffeine and I rapidly lost weigh. I think cutting out those high fat and calorie mochas helped a lot too. I am a coffee snob, can't make it at home, has to be doctored up. lol
When I started back on the Phen this time, I cut back on caffeine through soda and some coffee, but I do still have it occasionally. I am a single mom of an active 2 year old boy and frankly somedays the extra kick of caffeine is a requirement. lol But I do know that when I have both I do tend to get light headed much easier, get headaches a little more and get winded easier.
So, see how your body feels if there is anything odd at all I wouldn't recommend mixing it at all. And even though coffee is known as a diuretic, caffeine has been known to hinder weight loss and cause water retention. (Just can't win sometimes.)
But listen to your body and follow its warnings.

Maybe it effects people differently .. but I drank coffee whenever I felt like it with no problems.. though I do drink it black or with coconut milk... I think some folks might lose track of how many calories and carbs they are dumping in with condiments

I stopped drinking coffee. The one day I had coffee and phen, my hands were shaking and my heart was racing.

I completely gave up caffeine when I started the phen. I just didn't need it. Plus it made me feel nauseous and jittery. I do, on occasion, drink a decaf. I also gave up all sodas - they just don't taste the same anymore. I know there have been threads on here about the effects of caffeine on a dieting person, maybe you can google it to get more information. I'm pretty sure some of the other phensters on here were saying it stimulates appetite, also remember some saying that it takes away from the phen working properly. I don't know - I'm not a Dr.!! I don't always believe all of the stuff I read, but the part about it stimulating the appetite made sense to me...

I have read in the past that coffee with phen can cause phen to go out of your system quicker because it has some of the same components as phen. plus the diuretic in it as well..i have never had an issue but I only drink it sometimes and its half caffiene. I don't get tired on phen so I don't tend to need it.

I have also been addicted to Dr. Pepper - fountain drink, not bottled. I decided that I would only drink a soda after riding my bike to get it - which is 8 miles one way. That was my reward for a bike trip.

But now I have discovered that it is just not a good as it used to be. It makes me feel feel and bloated.

I still drink soda now once a week or so, but I finally kicked the addition.

Once I started Phen that's when I stopped drinking anything with caffiene. I had problems sleeping prior to Phen so I figured if I'm taking Phen and then drank caffiene on top of that I'd be up for days..lol..I've drank nothing but water this past month. On top of that I read that you shouldn't consume much caffiene with Phen cause it can increase heart rate and all that so I said forget it I rather not put myself at risk.

This morning was the first time that I had coffee with the Phen and I dont know but think it is the reason for the first time I didnt feel hungry. I drink almost about a cup and water and I was fine wayyyyyyyy past lunch into the evening. I do think it caused my heart to race a bit but drinking plenty of water countered that. I am going to try to follow todays pattern exactly because I dont not like the thought of still being hungry on Phen.
