Will Phen stop you from getting pregnant? Any new pregnancies while on phen?

Hi I think I might try to have a baby later on this year but I would like to lose some weight first. AIs there anyone out there who has gotten pregnant while on Phen. I know that once you get pregnant you have to immediately stop. But prior to gettiing pregnant, when should you stop.

You should definitely stop at least 6 months before trying to get pregnant, not to mention beginning folic acid and other vitamins beforehand.

Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to an amphetamine. It is also known as an "anorectic" or "anorexigenic" drug. Phentermine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite.

I included the definition just so you could see the words "similar to an amphetamine." Definitely give it a while. I understand wanting to drop some weight beforehand. That way you have also formed healthy habits that perhaps you will carry throughout the pregnancy. Does your doc know you're on phen, if so perhaps ask them and add a few months to whatever they say. I had a friend who miscarried several times after quitting phen. They kept telling her to try again whenever she wanted and she kept losing the baby. I suggested she take a break and drink lots of raspberry leaf tea to strengthen her uterus and start with vitamins...now she's 6 months pregnant!!! I wish you luck!

There have been a few on here that were taking Phen and got pregnant. I haven't heard of any of them having had problems.

Phen will not stop you from getting pregnant. But it can be dangerouse to an unborn child. It is probably a good idea to wait awhile after you stop taking phen to start trying. And ask your doctor. Better safe than sorry.
And congrats on the future (maybe) baby!!

My cousin got preg while on phen, and of course immediatly stopped taking it. She had a healthy full term baby girl who is now 3 years old!!

I was one of those that got pregnant while taking phen&birth control I had my little boy 4-28-05 and he is perfect.

Monifa- my best friend is just like you. She was on the pill and phen and got preggers... she stopped the phen asap and is due in about 6 months. The drs say that the baby will be okay b/c the majority of the neural growth happens in the last trimester... but that she needed to stop that minute she found out.

Well I see some of you saying that you were on phen and birth control and got pregnant.
Will phen stop the birth control from working???

My friend didn't quite understand how birth control worked (didn't ask the dr and didn't read the insert) and didn't use other protection that week that you don't take the active pills... that's why she got preggers... and the pill is like only 98% effective when taken properly... so there is still 2% but properly means at the exact same time every day- who does that?!?

Still be afraid I took my pills everyday because I didn't want to get pegnant and I was working out and losing weight.Plus I was taking phen so I knew to be careful.Like someone posted there are a lot of other here that have gotton pregant while on phen they are just not on here much becase they are pregnant.LOL My dr.said it was because i had gotton down to my ideal weight So i'am starting all over again with the weight loss

Scary! I posted in question of this subject recently about phen& yasmin. Maybe the raincoats will stay around a little longer? LOL I also wonder what kind of b/c pills these ladies were on? And I sure appreciate the news of knowing the 1wk of "off" pills can cause a problem!!!!

I was on Yasmin..but I was only on them for three or four months.prior to that I was on ortho micronor but started yasmin because I had really bad migranes and the yasmin helped to regulate my periods&they were not so heavy.But don't use me as an example beause I also got pregant while on the depo-shot
