That's wonderful!!!
I am a huge low-carb fan..ive lost most of my weight by doing it. I have been a bum for not sticking to it as well as I should've but I will say I have at least maintained as this has been a fear of mine. I kept hearing everyone say that you could gain the weight back quickly when you have slip-ups but this hasnt been true for me.
is this your first time trying it?

Dawn,

Are you losing a pound a day? What are you eating? What kind of low carb diet are you using? What are your exercise routines? I don't mean to sound nosey, but since you posted, thought I'd ask.

I know it's hot in Australia. Do you drink a lot of water? A friend told me that walking around in Australia burns off 3 times as many calories because of the heat.

I've been losing about 5 pounds each week. As long as I keep the carbs and fat low, drink tons of water, eat 1/2 cup Kashi Go-lean cereal with berries and skim milk, and exercise 90 minutes a day (walking and sit ups, etc.); the weight continues to come off.

I stopped taking phen for 4 days, and did not lose any weight during that time. I didn't gain any either, so that's good. I'd like to get on a plan that works, as I don't want to take phen more than 12 weeks.

You look pretty skinny to me. Which one is the mum? lol. Your mum looks great!

Ive been keeping my carbs under 20g, and the carbs i have had are salad stuff. I eat chicken, ham, bacon, eggs ,cheese, beef..........and heaps of water.
I havent been exercising. Thats my next plan of attack on the blubber! lol
That pic is about a year old..i put on about 15lbs since then.
One thing i have found halps me stick to this plan is atkins bars. They help with my sweet tooth.

I agree...I keep Atkins bars on hand as a daily snack. Also Russel Stover's low carb products are very good too.

Ya'll!!!! Be very careful with this diet, it through me into renal failure.

It used to be very popular around here but has since faded once people realized how unhealthy it actually is.

Its only unhealthy if you dont eat your allowed veggies and drink enough water.
Body builders live on virtually zero carbs, sometimes for years and it does them no harm. Not every diet suits every person, but that doesnt make it harmful.

That's OK Dawn, I did this diet by the book, Veggies and Water Both, it had nothing to do with that and everything to do with how my kidneys functioned.

I am just forwarning you...

What im saying is, that was your experience of it, and i thank you for the warning, but many people eat this way for many years with only positive benefits.
Each to their own.

I tell ya I'm really thinking of doing it for awhile so I can fit back in my work clothes. I go back to work in less than 3 weeks and I need to drop like 5-6 pounds to fit in any of my dress clothes. I did the low carb before and lost 4 pounds quickly but then gained it right back, but really I didn't gain it back til I found out I was preggo. If I don't lose any this week I'm gonna give it a whirl. I know I can't do it long term though, but I know some on here who swictched to calorie counting and continued to lose weight so maybe I will too. I'm getting desperate! LOL

oh yeah, congrats on the 9 lbs!!!!

Great jobbie, Dawn!

From my highest weight, I'm down 80'ish lbs doing low carb these last 50 or 60.

I couldn't have done it any other way.

My girlfriend lost 200 pounds on low carb.
She is the healthiest she's ever been in her life. She followed the Atkins plan religiously. She's back to eating some carbs now. Different diets work for different people. Simply, bread, rice, potatoes, and corn products make many of us gain weight.

I read an article stating that glucose, starch, and corn sugars play havoc with the average metabolism.

There are hidden carbs everywhere. I stay away from carbs, sugar and fat! (Ok, the grape and olive oil for cooking are good fats.)

Fried foods, fatty meats, and salty foods all had to go. Most of the dairy products went as well. Skim milk, no fat cottage cheese, and plain no fat yogurt are the exception.

Atkins seems extreme in the fats: eggs/bacon/ham,etc.

Trying to lower cholesterol, I know what works. Low carb, low fat, lots of water, fiber in veggies and a heart smart 1/2 cup of kashi go-lean with berries every morning. (It works great with the phen, and settles everything down (found it when I got my 1st phen prescription).

Even if low carb is working and you feel healthy, it's smart to see a doctor so you can be sure you're getting everything your body needs.

Didn't mean to unwind the thread here.

Can't sleep...and likin' low carb!

I agree..I would not have been able to lose the weight w/o low-carbing. It is the only thing that has worked..after YEARS of trying to find something that works. I guess I've been fortunate with not gaining any weight back although I havent been following it like I should.
But after reading this thread and seeing the success from others again...I am going to recommit so I can lose this last 30-40 lbs.
Good job again dawn and slowfoot...I had no idea you lost that much weight doing low-carb. Did you follow Atkins precisely or modified the diet?
