I buy a lot of educational software for Delaney at e store dot com. The software is CHEAP and really educational. (she'll be 6 next month and is in 1st grade)
She also loves pbskids dot com, nickjr dot com, and playhouse disney dot com. (oh and myscene dot come and polly pocket dot com but those aren't really educational!!)

anything related to what a 3 or 4 year old would like, either to learn on or to play. Safe sites obviously.
Also my 7 year old he is in the 2nd grade. He is making all A's, but struggles just a little with spelling and does not really like Science but he is doing good.
He likes to get on the computer just as a stress release, so I guess games for his age.

Some of these websites like nickjr even have "downloadable" games where you could download and write to CD (you will need a CD writer) and they could play with it without logging in. They have those cartoon figure like Dora and is rather educational.
