    Red face

I have started taking phentermine since 7th March and i've managed to lose only about 10kgs till this point. The doc has said that it is kinda slow and wants to stop me on it after my 3rd month, which i think i am not pleased!Well the side effects for me are sleeplessness, dry mouth(which of coz makes me thirsty and mad eme drink and drink)...but herez the crunch, friends have told me that i get irritated easily and some even asked whether i have depression..well,i may be moody at times, but problems in are part and parcel of life rite?I just don't get the idea why they think i am one depressed maniac..can someone understand my point of view?anyone?

Yes, all of these symptoms are perfectly normal..well, not normal, but common to phen. After a certain time period (can't say how long, we are all different) they will subside some but not completely go away. Just hang in there and you will feel better before long. Let us know how you're doing.

Yup, those are all side effects. That is another reason why I stopped taking Phen a couple months back. I wanted to snap everyones head off, ALL THE TIME!!!!! This time around I am not having that symptom or the sleeplessness either. Whewhoo.

As far as your weightloss goes, what else are you doing to lose the weight, other then Phen, did you add exercise, increase water and change your eating habits?

    Lynnz,

You may try to take a short break from it. Short meaning maybe a week. Then, when you start back on it, many times your body "remembers" and doesn't react so violently. I believe the FDA recommends no more than 3 months at a time to be on phen, but I'm not exactly sure. Somone correct me if I'm wrong. Just try the break, stick to your better eating habits, drinking lots of water, and keep on exercising while you're on the break. You will be pleasantly surprised. If you start having cravings, find something else to do rather than eat...go for a walk, read a book, brush your teeth (that usually helps with my cravings).

    Yup...all normal side effects.
My doc says to lose weight exercise 60 minutes a day, 7 days a week. If you are only eating once a day you may not be taking in enough calories, and your body thinks it is being starved...so it will slow down the metabolism to reserve stored fat...I drink atleast 64oz of water or more. Good luck...oh yeah...you could try a stole softner for the "other problem"

Yes all that stuff and constipation too. (in case you were afraid to ask ) It does eventually subside a bit and if you stop taking the pills it gets better. While on the pills, just try to stay focused on what you are on the pills for so you won't have to take them forever (like me )

I have all of those plus some... ever since being on Phen, ive had sexual side effect as well... as far as not wanting it as often and having some pain during it. I took a week break from Phen and those side effects went away thats why I assume they are Phen related. I havent heard of anyone else having those so I guess its just me.

Leesgirl, were you having constipation? that could have caused the sexual side effects.

My sexual side effects were just the opposite

I also started Phen on March 7.

Sounds like common symptons that you are having.

My worst side effect I think is being cold and chewing the side of my mouth.

Lynnz, you need to be eating more than once a day. I would hazzard a guess that your body has gone into starvation mode and that your metabolism has dropped to almost nothing. Your body needs fuel and you are depriving it. The best thing (in my opinion) is to start eating!!! Sounds funny, but in order to get your metabolism back and running, you need to eat several times a day,5-6 times, small snacks in between meals, healthy of course, and it only has to be a small amount. And I try to avoid eating after 7 pm. The most important meal to get you started is somethig for breakfast. Never skip breakfast. Try it for a couple of weeks at least. And don't forget the water. Minimum of 70 ounces a day. Minimum!!!

    Good luck,

    Lacy

Sleeplessness, dry mouth DEF normal. I have heard of the mood swings, and though I have not had them while on Phen (actually, in beginning I was just really happy!), I have had them on other weight loss meds.

Constipation normal. The dehydration causes a lot - maybe sexual pain someone else mentioned, too. If you are too dry, it will hurt.

Anyway, I am not sure if this affects it, but what about trying the phen-pro combination? They say the prozac kicks up the phen, and I wonder if it would help to counteract the depression?
