Should I just put a barricade up in the doorway to the kitchen?

I am just having a heck of a time lately determining if I am hungry, and when I am full. I just want to eat and eat and eat. I'm pretty sure it has to do with TOM, as that is drawing near, but OMG, all I want to do is eat!

For all intents and purposes, I am "technically" off phen. Sure I still have some and I won't hesitate to jump right back on them if the scale starts moving the opposite direction, but I consider myself a non-phen user at the moment. I haven't taken it regularly for a while (couple months, maybe?), and I've never had food urges like this.

I just went into the kitchen to get another water, and it was all I could do not to eat a piece of bread. Just one little piece of bread. It looked so innocent, lying there, just a little loaf of white bread. But as soon as I would eat that one little innocent piece of bread, I know then I'd want something else, then something else, and so on. So someone tell me, please, how to shut off the cravings switch!

I've tried drinking water when I want to eat, all that does is give me a fish bowl belly, and still wanting to eat. I've tried not going into the kitchen after dinner, but that doesn't work, because my hubby snacks after dinner, and whatever he's having, I WANT.

I've tried painting my nails so I can't snack at night. I've tried chewing gum so I can't eat. I've tried using my whitening trays at night when I'm watching TV so I won't snack, but nothing really cuts the cravings. (yeah, yeah, except for phen. )

So what do you do when all you want to do is eat?

Thanks.

Choco- I don't think you're going to like my answer...I think of my "fearless challenge leader" (you!)

Really and truly, you are such an inspiration to me. Aside from that, gum works, brushing my teeth works...and sometimes, you just have to give in...(a LITTLE bit) Eat a bite or two. Otherwise you're going to binge one of these days, and that will be worse!

Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Try cutting as much processed stuff from your diet as you can.
I found that now i have cut carbs i dont have the cravings. Im not saying start eating high protein, just to cut out the refined stuff. Lean meat and non startchy veg. When you eat bread, potatos rice etc it makes you carve more and more and ore. Remove them from your diet and the cravings go away.
Just my opinion, im aware not everyone likes this way of eating.

I agree w/ cndy, you have come along way, and sometimes you do crave sweets or other foods, you should eat a bite or two just to make the cravings go away and then do something else to get your mind working, and focus on other stuff like watching t.v. or exercise, and enjoy the little bites as much as you can, that is what I do, I will eat 1pc of chocolate ( I will enjoy it all the way trough ) and then drink a glass of water to not feel so guilty and that helps me to stop the cravings. comn girl I know you can do it you have lost 49lbs, 49lbs is a lot so if you have achieved this goal, I am sure you can do what you set your mind to.

Hide the things that tempt you - er, I mean, ask your husband to hide them. Usually when things are "out of sight," they are "out of mind."

Try going for a walk, or cleaning, or ANYTHING ELSE THAT WILL TAKE YOUR MIND OFF YOUR CRAVINGS.

Hope this helps.

Phew...I thought I was the only one going through this. I currently am taking phen...whenever. Haven't really been consistent. I, like Choco, am finding it so hard to stay away...I am only 4 lbs away from my goal.. Guess I will really start to worry when the scale goes up. I guess for now it's willpower and water...or superglue the lips together..good luck choco!

Good luck and if your feeling like that again-just sit back and think how sexy you look thin!!!!!!!!! Do you really wanna risk it? Did you get rid of your fatty clothes? I did and I REFUSE to buy fat clothes ever again... Try that... Good luck cute!!!

Yeah, the fat clothes are gone. So I can't go up in weight any, cause then I won't have any clothes to wear AGAIN, and I'll have to go buy more, and then I'll go broke and have to eat Ramen noodles all the time. Then I'll gain more weight, and have to buy more clothes...what a vicious cycle.

It's not like I can hide the things that tempt me lately though, because EVERYTHING tempts me! Everything! I came home this afternoon and ate a pop-tart. A pop-tart?!? Did I want a pop-tart? No, but you can bet your sweet A** I wasted no time scarfing that down! Aargh!

Colnoc, you and I should stick together! We're both so close to goal, and apparently we're eating everything in the house...

Cndygrl, how dare you throw the "fearless leader" into it! I'll get you for that one! lol! I'm going to go all "drill seargent" on your tush! lol!

And Terbear, thanks so much! I know it's silly, but I tend to lose sight of what's coming up, and just that comment about the bridesmaid dress kinda snapped me back into my weight loss frame of mind. You're right, I can't gain any weight back, I have to look good in my dress! (But not so good as to upstage the bride.)

Thanks girls. I'm going to do better. I already have done a little better this evening. I've been peeing too much to be able to go into the kitchen. yum. water. how exciting. how exotic. how un-chocolaty it is.

To be honest girl, when I have cravings as strong as the ones your having, i just simply eat. Nothing is going to fulfill that craving but the craving itself. You can't replace it or ignore it and believe me babe, once you satiate that craving you will be fine. One thing though, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE throw out that white bread, it's no good, replace it with whole grain or sourdough, much healthier and way more filling, white breads full of sugar and one piece will lead to another then another than another, I'm sure you get the picture....

Hey Choco, I'll be curious to know if all these cravings pass after TOM is gone. I know my appetite is ferocious when it's near, and I give in a little bit since "brushing my teeth, using whitening gel, drinking tons of water and getting fishbowl belly" don't work for me either! LOL

If it does pass after TOM then it's not too serious a problem and you can probably keep the munchies in check. If the horrible cravings are still there afterwards though, that'll be tricky! You'll have to do something that keeps you in constant weight-maintenace mode...like... taking a second job as a cage dancer at a club, or joining a women's volleyball team that requires you to practice in swimsuits, or joining Victoria's Secret thong-of-the-month club..... or.... Just kidding! I don't know! But I hope the cravings just go away after TOM and you can enjoy your weight loss forever!
