Hey, folks

I came across this study - it may help you towards maintaining weight loss.

A number of people here have recommended this before, but this study seems to confirm the value of fiber in your diet:

----------------------
A study led by Dr. David Ludwig from Children's Hospital in Boston found that measuring how much dietary fiber a person eats may be better than counting fat grams for predicting weight gain...

"Fiber has a major influence on body weight, blood pressure and cholesterol levels," Ludwig told CNN. Fiber in food not only fills you up, he said, but has beneficial effects on blood sugar.

"Fiber may act by slowing down the rates of digestion and lowering concentrations of the hormone insulin," Ludwig said.

But while fiber may be even more important than once believed in controlling and lowering health risks, experts say it's still essential to count calories, including fat intake.

The average American gets only 10 grams of fiber a day -- less than half the recommended amount. Health experts say five daily servings of fruits and vegetables provide all the fiber a person needs.
