Okay Yall..(notice the NC coming out of me)...I have been kicking butt in the gym 4-5 days a week, running 2-3 days week in the a.m., and eating ALL healthy foods. The first week I lost 7lbs and this week...well...uh...NOTHING! What do you guys think the problem is.

I am getting discouraged because I look a some of you like EmBee30 who lost at LEAST 2 pounds a week!! Why is my body holding on to all of this luggage????? Ughhhhhhhhhhhh.....

Hello there -

First of all, 7 lbs in one week is great. Keep that in mind. Your body is trying to adjust to the new changes you are making. The first few pounds are water weight, obviously...but after that you need to be patient and let your body get back in to the groove of things.

The weight will come off. You have only been doing this for 2 weeks, correct? 7 lbs in 2 weeks is awesome.

Don't get discouraged, and mostly, don't set yourself up to lose 7 lbs a week or even 2 lbs a week every week. Take it the way it comes and be proud.

Also, before I shut the heck up, you ARE working out which means you are gaining muscle. The scale probably won't move as fast, but the inches will melt off. Take my word.

MEJM7512- I lost alot the first week or two, but that was almost all water weight. I guess once you get all that excess stuff gone from your body, you start to really shed excess fat. I think that losing up to 2 pounds a week is good, but not more than that. If you lose more than that it's most likely because you are losing muscle and that's a bad thing. As long as you are taking in enough healthy calories and it's a good combo of lean proteins, starchy (healthy) carbs, and fibrous carbs, and don't forget water...you will definitely continue to see results. If you are working out extra hard, (and it sounds like you are), make sure you are getting enough nutrition to keep your body supplied with everything it needs to be a fat burning machine! Don't stress about not seeing the scale change for a week or so..you are more than likely trading out fat for new muscle tissue which is awesome!! Focus more on inches and how your clothes fit than the numbers on the scale. I was definitely one that focused on the scale..so I'm not trying to be a hypocrite..but we live and learn! I was so caught up in the numbers and I think I ended up sacrificing muscle loss in the long run. Now, my focus is to build my body up and get strong so I can keep this weight off for good. Best of luck to you, I think you will do just fine! You seem to be very smart and knowledgeable about these things!
