I try to call them resolutions, but goals. Goal sounds so much better to me. My church has a New Years Eve service. My pastor has everyone make a goal list and place it on the alter at midnight. I always make a copy so at the end of the year I can go back and see how many goals I accomplish. I accomplished about half this year so Im proud. I guess my goals for 2006 is to finish the rest from 2005.
Never again will I confess "I can't" for "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Philippians 4:13)

I have the same resolution every year, and that is to pay off some debt and not create any more debt. I have yet to do that. But every year, I try again. Wish me luck for 2006.

I want to continue on my weight loss journey as well. The past 2 weeks have been really tough to get in my exercise.....and I really miss it. There's too much going on with getting ready for Christmas: a dinner I am hosting, as well as all the shopping, wrapping, decorating, cleaning...

I have been doing well avoiding all the office snacks and the goodies at home. I have also been keeping up with the healthy eating habits -

I am almost half-way to my weight loss goal, so I
will buckle down again get focussed on me!!

Every year we write down our wishes and goals for the coming year and put them in our Solstice box. Then we look at last years wishes and goals and see how close we came to accomplishing any of them. I learned to be REAL careful of how I phrase things. In 2003 I put that I wanted a new car in 2004. But for most of 2004 I did nothing to try to accomplish that. So the universe decided to help me out and I was stopped at a light and hit by TWO cars that were racing. Totalled my car. I got a new car in 2004 alright. So now I pretty much just ask for good health

Eternity, I'm with you girl. This year, no resolutions. I just want to continue to improve on my quality of life, mentally, physically, spiritually and emotinally.

I think New Year's is an arbitrary time to make resolutions. They tend to be a bit insincere. If you really wanted to do something, you'd resolve to do it NOW, not wait for a particular date and give yourself a year. I think they only perpetuate failure...

I don't make any resolutions for the new year. I tell myself that the new year coming up will be even better than the year before and that I will do all I can to make that come true. Also that I will do what ever I can to help others and to grow closer in my spiritual walk with God.

I know what you mean Athena! I stuck to good health for myself and my family, and personal emotional growth. Amazing how those "specific" requests come back to bite you in the rear.

I too have decided a couple of years ago that I'm not going to make any resolutions for the new years, mine is always the same, lose weight. (I have always been disappointed with this) Instead, I vowed to do a good deed every day (when possible) wheather it is voluntering at a soup kitchen or nursing home, returning a wallet, helping lost/stray animals find their homes, bringing homeless people that have hungry signs McDonalds instead of giving them money, chasing down an elderly man in a gas station because he forgot to put his gas cap back on, or just simply holding the door for a disabled person. I think a vow like this has been a great one because it is so rewarding (to everyone) and it makes me feel so good afterwards.

Well I guess I am the odd person out.. I like to reflect on the year..and think about what I want to change and or make better for the new year.

My goals are..
Continue my weight loss journey
Work on my self image
Work on spending QUALITY time with husband and family and not just be in a hurry.
Keep my vechile cleaner
Answer the phone more..instead of totally ignoring it.
I want to become a fun person again. I feel like I have lost some fun in life and I want that joy back!
Work on my marriage..and let my husband now how much he means to me!

I am quitting smoking for good. Just bought 4 weeks worth of nicotine patches and tons of mint sugar free gum. I am also going to get serious with my workouts and stop being so lazy when it comes to going to the gym.

I am also hoping by GOD's brace to get preggo this year!!
