Hey everybody,
I'm back from the big city (Chicago) and boy was it lovely. My mom and I stayed at the Omni Chicago hotel and it definitely deserves its 4 stars! The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was as helpful as you could possibly imagine. Every time we heard a knock at the door my mom and I turned to each other with puzzled looks on our faces wondering, who could that be? It was always someone asking if they could do something for us - check the mini bar, turn down the bed, retrieve the breakfast tray, etc, etc...talk about being pampered! While we're on the subject of being pampered - the SPA!!!! OH MY GOODNESS - it was lovely...I got a massage, facial, mani and pedi and loved every fabulous minute of it. I have got to do this more often...hmmm, I should have my boyfriend go to "spa school" so I can get the services for free![]()
The next best thing besides the hotel and the spa - the SHOPPING!!! Let me tell you, we tore our little footsies up...we were traipsing up and down Michigan Ave, State St, etc. The shops on Michigan Ave were waaaay too expensive for my pocketbook but it was nice to go in and dream! We did, however, do some damage at Filene's basement, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom and Marshall's.
Okay, I know you're all waiting to hear - how did I do with the diet and exercise? Well, I did get up at 8am on Saturday and workout at the gym in the hotel but as for Sun, Mon, Tues...not a drop of exercise unless you count the blocks and blocks (and blocks) that we walked. I think we walked enough to counter the effects of the eating - at least I hope so. We ate McDonald's, Giordano's pizza, Ghiradeli's (sp?) ice cream, TGI Fridays, Popeye's and we just so happened upon a Hershey's store - trust me, this was NOT a good thing. And, GASP - I didn't take my phen on Sunday...
Sooooo, dunh dunh dunh - I lost 2 lbs since last week...I know that's not on par with the 8-10 that most people lose in the first week but I'll take it - given the indiscretions described aboveI'm back on track as of today with lots of water, just did my 3.2 miles and eating little carbs, lots of fruit/veggies
