Help! I have been stuck at 174/173 for several days now and can't seem to get beyond that plateau. I am 5'3" and sit behind a desk all day.
Any suggestions? How many calories should I be eating to lose?

Sorry to hear you are stcck! I know how you feel! I have been stuck at 193 for three weeks!!! It is so frustrating. I was losing 2-3 pounds a week since January then all of a sudden nothing FOR THREE, ALMOST FOUR WEEKS! I have tried everything I've read to break this plateau! I upped the cals, downed the cals, upped the exercise, downed the exercise, changed my menu, more fiber, more protein, less carbs everything!!! I drink almost two gallons of water a day! I added 5htp, that helped with my mood and sleeping at night but not with the loss. Oh, and I have measured myself every week and NOTHING. Not an inch lost! I guess I just have to keep going and do what I have been doing and maybe eventually it will start coming off again! If anyone has any advice please help!

I have also been stuck within the same pound for four weeks, but I know from past experience that the key is to keep doing what you're doing. Some modifications are helpful, but it's like your body has to re-adjust to the loss and then start losing again!
    Good luck!

You also have to look at the loss over longer periods of time, like a week or two, rather than days. That helps to see a steady decline, even if you weigh the same for several days in a row. Generally, you will weigh the same for a few days and then see a drop.

Whew! I'm down to 172.5 now. I think maybe I was not eating ENOUGH. I upped my cals to 1150 yesterday and lost half pound. I think I had been eating around 900 cals.
