    Question

    Hi,
I keep reading about people taking a day off here and there to prevent dependence. Is it actual chemical dependence or emotional (ie thinking you will eat more if you don't take the pill). Or is it when you have been on it a long time?

I am only on my first month of it, but my dr did not say anything about that. He said to call after a month and he would call in a prescription if it works for me. Then I am supposed to see him that next month.

    Just wondering...

    Thanks!
    Kell

People have different views about the long-term effects of Phen. Some people take breaks or don't take it every day so that it remains affective at supressing the appetite. To lose weight, I took it every day. Right now, I'm taking it about 4-5 times a week. I've been stuck on a plateau. Phen really helps me control my eating. It may be something I have to take 1-2 times a week long term. If it helps me keep the weight off with no side affects and keeps me from taking Lipitor, then I don't see the problem. Plus, my doctor seems to think it's okay. Much of how you take Phen also depends on your doctor's opinion of it. Many doctors won't even prescribe it.

    Rebecca,

Quick question if you do not mind...I live in Chesapeake, VA and anyway my doctor prescribed 2 months worth only and made it clear that would be it...don't even bother asking as she did not like to prescribe it at all...Anyway, I have been taking 1/2 tablet everyday from the very beginning (March 2005)and am very happy with my results. A slow, steady weight loss of approximately 20 pounds. This last week or so I have been taking my pills every other day or every two days as I am trying to make this last refill last...Now here is my question, could you help me with a doctor in this area who would continue this...I am not sure if we can post those names here, but i could give you my email adress, if you feel comfortable with that..ANy help would be great because I have had no bad side effects, I am exercising now 5 days a week, I am eating a lot better, and I feel confident I can continue this, but the extra help is nice since I still have about 40 to 50 pounds to go...

    Thanks

    Laura

My doctor had initially prescribed the 15 MG capsules. I didn't really feel any effect from that so I upped it to 30 MG. Once she saw my results a few months later (bought more 30 MG online), she agreed it really helped me. She agrees with me taking it a few times a week to keep my eating under control, but I did buy two prescriptions online. I would suggest that route. Or, you can go to a specific Bariatric doctor. I used to go to a Dr. Harris who had an office in Virginia Beach as Chase Wellness Center (do a Google on that and her info will come up).

I don't think it is dependency as much as trying to keep it working effectively. you're body will adapt and build up an ammunity pretty quickly. taking a day off here and there helps some.

I took it for 6 months before I took a break. I was successful the whole six months. I stopped because I was getting headaches.
    I am back on again.
