Sorry no date night tonight! I'll keep you company!
Well, I'm just hanging out myself. Hunny's on the couch watching a shoot-em-up movie with Clint Eastwood I think, and I thought I'd drop in a see what was going on in here, We went out to see how town was doing, they are getting ready for moonshine festival tomorrow, and we live half a block from town. So fun. Only thing that stinks is all the wonderfully bad foods they cook the smell of it lingers up to the house. TORTURE!!!
Obviously, Everybody else has a life.. . Whatcha gonna do this weekend????

Thats how our tiny little town got started way back when was with moonshine, bootleggers bought and sold it here and around us. Ever 3 weekend in October they celebrate it with a fall festival. All kinds of stuff. They said in the paper they are expecting 90 thousand people. Yeah right, 90 thousand people couldn't even fit in this whole town!!! Yep, I'm offically a hick aren't I!! It is such a cute little town though. It is growing quite rapidly. Now we are getting all the big chain resturants and car dealerships. ICK! It still is pretty much everybody knows everybody around here. You have no secrets in otherwords. We still do not lock our doors at night either. Well, thats in big part to the police car sitting out there too. But it is quaint.
Now, clubbing you wild child you!! I would skip the desk part and jsut go out and have a GREAT time!

Georgia Man's Video and Song Trace The Evolution of Moonshine Running Into Today's NASCAR
Wednesday October 13, 5:15 pm ET
Song Featured in CMT's Moonshine Madness Documentary Airing Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 13, 2004--When CMT (Country Music Television) airs its Moonshine Madness documentary Saturday night (16th) as part of the network's Shocktober events, it will be the culmination of a wild ride for Dell Conner. The Dawsonville, Georgia singer/songwriter, whose radio moniker is Uncle Dell, not only will be interviewed in the documentary, but his self-penned ode to moonshine tripping, "Runnin' Shine," will be prominently featured in the one-hour special airing at 9 p.m. ET.
"Most people don't know that Dawsonville is the birthplace of NASCAR," the affable Conner explains. "Not only has Dawson County fielded five Daytona 500 winners, which in itself is unusual for a 209 square mile county, but NASCAR evolved from moonshine tripping of the mid-20th Century. The big annual music festival in Dawsonville is even called the Moonshine Festival."

It was while playing at the annual Moonshine Festival that Conner conceived the idea of writing a song about moonshining. The singer/songwriter who had scored a national radio hit with his 2001 "Afghan Blues" spent time with a half-dozen former moonshine trippers ranging in age from 70 to 93, soaking up stories of their glory days distilling and running moonshine in the red clay hills of North Georgia. When his song, "Runnin' Shine," was written, he turned his attention to making a video for the song. Choosing Imagemil from Atlanta to direct and film the video, Conner himself wrote the script, chose the costumes and props, obtained the necessary permits and starred in the video. The finished three-minute video is the product of six weeks of filming at five different locations in Dawson County. His dream from the start was to make a video worthy of being played on CMT.

When the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, Thunder Road, opened soon afterwards, they began airing Conner's video in the museum 72 times a day. At the same time, Planet Grande, who was filming a documentary on moonshine for CMT's Most Shocking series, found out about Dawsonville during their filming in Georgia. Conner relates the story: " The people from CMT and Planet Grande came up to Thunder Road on a Saturday and saw the video. They had the manager call me to come down there. They watched the video with me several more times, took my CD and listened to it, then re-assembled in a conference room and after about 20 minutes called me in and told me they had decided to use my song in their documentary. It will air over 100 times through March, 2005. I was floored! We even compiled all our footage and sent to them in California. I'm hoping people will hear snippets and want to hear the whole song, maybe even want to hear the whole CD."

A little history for you kb!
"Uncle Dell is a great guy. He actually builds houses too. We are in love with one he has built here recently. If only we could get our Interest down a little we'd move in in a heart beat!
