    Anyone catch last night's episode?

It was amazing to see what those guys were able to accomplish in so little time.

Seeing them lose SO many inches in just 5 weeks was very motivating for me--I may not have Michael Thurmond laying out my meals or kickin my butt in the gym every day.. but seeing the show certainly got me out of bed early this morning to hit the dreadmill.

    Malicious,

First, Let me say that your pics are beautiful! You have already accomplished SO much! Your starting weight is about the same as mine and my goal is similar as well. What an inspiration you are!

I did see extreme makeover and that one lady lost like 16 inches in her waist alone in just one month! That pumped my butt up and I'm ready to hit the dreadmill this morning too! They all accomplished so much and I can't wait to see their finale next week!

Keep up the good work and if you have any tips for me, please share!

I watched it, i was so happy for the one girl, I was afraid she wasnt going to make it when she got so upset towards the end. They all did incredible. 16 inches off your waist in 5 weeks!! I didnt even do that in a year. The show definately motivated me.

Part 2 is on next week (thursday) for those of you who asked. Part 2 will be the surgeries that they earned for losing the weight. Part 1 of the show they each got set an amount that they HAD TO LOSE to be at a safe weight to even do the surgery. If they didnt lose the weight, they didnt get the surgery.

I saw the show. It was the first time that I saw them do what they did. The people could not have the surgery if they didn't lose the weight first. You will have to catch the show which continues where this one left off.

    Thumbs up

I saw it!!! I was so dissapointed that we didn't get to see it ALL.Part one and two.... I was even crying a time or two for the one girl that had the most hopeless attitude. The other girl that wasn't loosing pounds as fast but loosing inches.I was sweating it with her. Michael Thurmand must be a genius. How did he do that? How did he figure their food and excercise so perfectly? Egg whites and asparagus? Now theres a treat I love the show. It has motivated me as well.

I did the Michael Thurmond "6 week body makeover" for not quite 6 weeks lol. Its unbelievably hard--you have to take a test that personalizes the diet for your body type.. i was basically eating plain chicken breast & half a cup of rice every 1.5 hours (they strongly discourage using ANY salt at all, but they ultimately leave it up to you).. but it helped me break through a plateau that seemed impossible at the time. Its a pretty expensive program..I bought mine on Ebay & am considering relisting mine as a used kit.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.. everyone on this site gives me the daily inspiration i need to keep going to reach my ultimate goal.

Gotta: I lost my weight a variety of different ways..the first 50 lbs I lost using phen (in just 3 or 4 months)..kept it off for 2 years..then 15 or so slowly crept back on & I decided to try Atkins (my brother had a lot of success with it) It melted off quickly.. lost 50 lbs in 4 months putting me at 155. I stopped losing..I was still doing the "induction" phase for another 3 months..and still nothing more came off. I even started to gain a little & got back to 165. grr.

So, now I'm just eating Low fat/moderate carbs Keeping my calories at 1100-1200 a day & praying that i see the 140s soon.

I watched extreme makeover and was AMAZED!!! One question though. When they were working out in the gym the trainer said something about working out on the treadmill... slow and long workouts burn more body fat. Can someone explain this to me? What speed and how long should you walk in oder to optimize your workout?

I love to watch Extreme Makeovers!! I don't know whats wrong with me but it never inspires me to workout . It's just a feel good show for me. I love to see how happy the people are after it all. Now AMANDA , your before and after pics are inspiring to me and make me feel like working harder. You look great! I wish you the best in getting to where you want to be.

Shella: Your question is the subject of debate by many, many people (scroll through posts from the past 2 weeks or so and youll see several on that subject.)

On the last episode of Extreme Makeover, Michael Thurmond was preaching Slow & Steady wins the race b/c you burn more fat--the other side of that argument is 'sure, you burn more fat WHILE on the treadmill..but if you pick up the pace, you burn more fat while NOT on the treadmill."

I certainly don't have the answers, I just do what feels good to me. I like feeling like im actually getting something out of the workout..so I push myself harder.

Shella, I met a girl named Shella at JC Penneys last week in the home department. I think she was from VA. Was that you?
I don't know the answer about the slow burn question. I think if I got on a tredmill now I would take it nice and fairly slow so I could last long enough to do some good Could that be his logic? Maybe they weren't physically able at first to maintain their assignment if they burned out by over doing it right off the bat Just a thought! GinnyP Sheila

I came in here to read about the makeovers. With the schedule I have I missed it Amanda you know how I feel you are absolutely beautiful!! I seen there was a post about the intensity of cardio. I have read that the harder you work the more calories you burn even after exercise up to 48 hours longer (afterburn) then at a more low moderate pace. I have been doing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and you can only do aout 20 minutes and it kicks my butt. This has helped me get over my plateu finally HIIT is also considered strength training and should only be done 3-4 x's a week in order to allow your muscles enough time to recover between workouts. I just thought I would share with you guys, thank you for posting about the makeovers I wish I would have been able to see it.
