i love make up have been playing around with it since i was 9. felt like i had techniques down pat when i was in my early 20's. now, i don't know how to apply my eye makeup or blush. i have almond shaped eyes with, in my opinion, semi-droopy lids.

anyone have any tips? internet sites with visuals on application to give the semblance of youthful eyes?

how do you apply blush when you have bags and dark circles under your eyes from lack of sleep?

sometimes blush makes them more pronounced.

I've heard that for a more youthful look don't use shadows that sparkle ~ they tend to adhere to the creases/lines in your eyes and just draw attention to them! You always want to use a creamy matt shadow, and I always put a foundation of cover stick on my lids to make the shadow last longer. It goes on smoother, as well. Never wear a black liner. It looks too harsh. You can get the same effects with a brown. I personally use liquid eyeliner as pencil pulls the skin and causes even more wrinkles.

If you're using so much blush that it's drawing attention to the bags & circles, you're using WAY TOO MUCH. No one should ever even notice you have blush on.

The old addage "less is more" becomes even more true as we age. Makeup should enhance your looks, not make you look like Tammy Faye. You might also try a different shade of blush to achieve the results you want.

For those dark shadows...I use a cover up pack that has a green based concealer (lessens the redness) then a reg. concealer.

I put a real light neutral shade up high by my eyebrows, then a med. shade for the rest of my lid, then I apply a sort of sideways V in the crease with a darker shade and then blend with a brush. I use navy blue eyeliner. I also go with brown-black mascara..looks more natural on me.

For blush..I just go along my cheekbone and then blend with my fingertips.

I would go with as many of neutral shades as possible and add in cool or warm shades whichever goes with your skin tone.

    Take care!

Jewel is right. I used to be a mary Kay beauty consultant and that is how they tell you to apply eye shadow. I had to throw skin care classes and show people how to apply make-up.They have really good products. YOu could host a party and then they would show you and you would get like 50% off all their products.I love their skin care.

Here's what I do. I put a cream colored shadow on my lower lid and right under my eyebrow. Then I use a milk chocolate color in the crease of my eye and apply right to the bottom of my brow bone. It doesn't look blended so I take my sponge and swipe gently across all of it to blend. Also, I use liquid black or brown eyeliner just above my top lashes to make them appear thicker and to outline the shape of my eye. I use a little of the chocolate brown eye shadow under my lower lashes, just barely there. It gives me a sexy smoky look, or at least that's what I'm trying to acheive. I have dark circles too so I feel your pain. I'm freaked out about using conceilers w/ green or yellow tint, so I just use a little lighter shade of liquid foundation and pat it on w/ my finger then cover all of it w/ my regular foundation. For cheeks, I use a peach/rose color (aren't they all that color?) and try to accent my cheekbones. Let's see, lips! I like to put foundation on my lips to make them skin color. Then I dab a little powder on top of them. Outline it w/ a brown lip liner and put gloss on top and blend. Since my eyes are what I try to enhance, I keep the lips very natural looking.. just glossy.

This picture is done how I stated above..

There is a new foundation and skin care product I seen on tv the other day, I cannot remember the name of it, but the infomercial was hosted by Naomi Judd. The stuff is suppose to help cover up under eye cirles, acne, birth defects, etc without feeling caked on or heavy and it wasnt that much money. I am thinking it was around $30. The reason why it interested me because I can never find a foundation/concealer that covers up but doesn't make me look like I am wearing a mask. Right now I only wear eyeline, eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick. I am probably going to order this stuff and give it a try because they had a money back guarentee. So it wont hurt to try it. ~Tammy

i am really bad with foundation and concealor. concealor is either too light or too dark. the bags under my eyes tend to appear more obvious with concealor, too. i have olive toned skin. i found a powder shade (# 6 dual finish) that almost matches closely to my skin tone, yet, it is just a tad darker than my actual skin tone by the body shop (i love their make up now). so i cover my whole face except for under my eyes and it somewhat makes the dark circles disappear because i am darkening my skin to match the shade of my under eye circles (lol, does this make sense? ).

jewel, can you explain the sideway "v," again. where exactly do you put it on the lid? and which lid?

phat, great picture! you have really nice eyes!

Tammy, i think i saw that infomercial tv. i think as seen on tv.com might have it. i thought it was a good product. i would be scared to get it because it seems hard to match my skin. the lights are usually to light and the darks too dark.

another concern is... i don't like to look overdone because it makes me look matronly.

angeliis, you are right. less is more in my case.

i like that fresh out of the shower, youthful, fun yet sexy look.

i am going to try to find some sites to post.
