I have fat knees too! When I went from a size 26 to 14 on Phen-Fen I thought they would go away but they didn't. Now I exercise regularly with Taebo but those fat chunks are still there. I think it's because I'm pear-shaped with thick thighs. I'm so self-conscious that I don't wear shorts in public. My goal is to be a size 8-10 (I'm 5'7") and when I reach my goal size if my knees are still the same then screw it, I'll just have to accept it as always being a part of me.
It's been a long time but I'm thinking about starting phen again.
Hey all and welcome to the forum.
I know all about the fat around the knees, but guess what you can lose it.
Squats and lunges work the thigh and butt area. Unfortunately you can not target an area and lose the fat there. Aerobics is the only way to lose the fat. I know thats not what people want to hear but its true. See, the fat covers the muscles that the squats and lunges are building, but as long as the fat is still there you wont see the muscle.
Hope that helps.
Step aerobics are really good - the firm set is a good example.
Good luck and i know you can do it.
I get fat knees, too. They're beginning to look better, but only beginning. . .
I read somewhere, years ago, that people with A+ blood type are more prone to fat knees. This holds true for me, but I wondered about the rest of you. . .

Thank you, Lunachic! I'm impatient with myself, but trying to keep my eye on the prize!
You're not doing too badly yourself! Congrats!

I second Luna - can't spot reduce...wish like all get out that you could cause then I would just elimnate a whole bunch of stuff. Heh....
And yep there is hope in the future...even though you have the fat pads in the knee area...when your fat to muscle ratio decrease...so will those nasty areas that we all don't like. If after you loose all the weight and you still have the knee problem....(okay not the most healthy suggestion) consider liposuction and a nip and tuck of the skin. At my heaviest weight...as with most other places in my body - I had rolls that went down over my calves from my knee area. Now? they are back into the normal region but not 100% there. However, I still have about ninety pounds to go before I reach my goal weight. Crossing my fingers and praying to whoever has control over this stuff that everything will resume a semi-normal position in relation to the rest of me.
If this doesn't occur.....I will be contacting the nearest plastic surgeon who has a decent amount of skill to correct this stuff. However - I don't care to much about the knees as I do about the stomach or the bat wings...perhaps if I start flapping my arms really hard at this point I will be able to fly across the city I live in?
Good Luck and hope everything works out.

I have the chunky knee fat too! mine is right above my knee on the inside, and I hate it! I have very thick upper thighs also, and hate wearing shorts. Even at a size 8 I still had chunky legs, it's just the way my body is and I have accepted it. I walk and do step aerobics faithfully, but I think they are as good as they get! I guess we all have a problem area, a lot of women envy my tummy. The grass is always greener.....

hi thinjen, you look great, and i am sure your
family is proud of you...i think some of us are just born with fat knees....i never could get
rid of them.......keep up the great work.
..............foxxie
You have beautiful legs thinjen!!
Tee Cooper,
You are most definitely a spoon body type so please don't do any lunges or squat or leg presses with or without weights. These two exercise are known to bulk up your lower body for the spoon and hourglass body types. Jumping rope w/ speed or peg rope, jumping jacks, fast walking with little or no incline , jogging or running, *elliptical machines with no resistance ( only if you are not overweight) and of course the stationary bike with light or no tension.
Thanks DeeKaye! I get fat knees too, even if I am at goal. I will take those exercises into consideration, considering I am a spoon too!
