Hubby and I bought a new house!! It is smaller then the one we are living in now but it has all the "extras" like a beach within 5 minutes, boat ramps, etc. The house sits on a peninsula called Ivy Bend on the Lake of the Ozarks (Mother I am sure you and Rene know where I am talking about) anyways it is GORGEOUS and I am soooooo excited. It sits on 10 acres but hubby wants to buy another 20 acres behind it for hunting and the 20 acres is part of a Ozark Mountain. The schools are GREAT they are Accredited with Distinction (which is suppose to be the best accreditation in Missouri for public schools), also the school is small only 600 students from pre-k to 12th grade!! This is a HUGE relief for me, I was not to thrilled about the Lebanon High School here. Anyways if we ever want to have a get together, well I have a beach and a lake now we can have one hell of a party Thank you for letting me share my excitement

Wow, that's great Tammy. I love Lake of the Ozarks. Matter o fact your house looks like one a friend of mine has on the Ozarks. Well, I see where I'll be staying when I get thru there. I think that's a great idea about the extra acres on the Ozark MT, any property you buy on the Ozarks is valuable.

I'm excited for you girl. Yah!!

And the school sounds great. Sounds like you just had a great blessing from God. Keep it going girl.

Missus and Amy thank you Missus, whenever you are my way let me know!! There is sooooo much to do here and the scenery is just breath taking. I never thought Missouri could be this beautiful. I would be honored if you stayed with my family, would love to have you!! We have been looking for a smaller school district for the kids and I was getting really desperate too. I was looking at a older trailer and was going to move it to some property and then I found this. It just seemed to fall in our lap and the price was soooo reasonable. We went out today and took a bunch of pics and the kids LOVE it! I thought I was going they would not be to thrilled about moving because of a new school and all but they are already thinking, oldest boy wants a 4 wheeler, heck mom wants a 4 wheeler (lol) It is going to be alot of fun because the inside isnt finished so we are going to get to finish it the way we want to. Cant wait to get started!! Tammy

we have bunnies living in our yard (I really don't mind them in the garden - they are sooooooo CUTE!)

. . .but I hate the raccoons & opossums (sp?)

Thank you Determined. The place doesnt have electric to it yet, it is ordered but it might take a month or so before it is there but we should be in there before school starts. Our daughter will be a freshmen in high school and I want her to start where she will graduate. We are going to find a good church to attend so the kids can make some friends before school starts. That should help make it an easier transition for them. Gosh I cant wait! Tammy

Determined girl it will have electricity in about a month. It is that new that they built it with an air compressor. It also has indoor plumbing girl I dont think I could live without that!!

Eva girl, let me tell ya, high school is freaking me the F#*k out!! I am scared to death. She is a good girl, but wet behind the ears so to speak, we have kept the kids sheltered Hubby has a good gun collection already started He told her when she starts dating that he will greet her date with a shot gun just to get a daddy's point across Gosh I wish they could stay little forever, she is already talking about college and stuff

Holly that is the view that you see as you drive to our house It is absolutely breath taking!! I am still in awe over it. This is my ultimate dream home. We are going to finish the inside with alot of wood to give it the cabin/country feeling with alot of burgundy colors.

Patti, Arkansas isnt too far from me, I dont have my atlas to look ya up but the biggest town close to me is Camdenton Missouri The lake we will be living on is Lake of the Ozarks. I will look on my atlas when I am at work tonight.

Missus I took the kids out there yesterday, and they were at awe of the views out there. I dont think that is something you can really get use to. We had a disposable camera and my oldest boy was hanging out of my sun roof taking pictures of everything. I cant wait for fall!! I can just imagine the colors and the lake. Fall is my favorite time of year!

Thank you Rhonda, we live off of a dirt road and now I can go jog with out the fear of being ran down....so that is going to be a nice treat for me. Oh yeah the address for the house is the magnificent mile the websters dictionary defines magnificent as impressively beautiful, elaborate, or extravagant. I have never had a address that described where I lived before (lol) My son and I noticed that yesterday that we will be living on the magnificent mile. ~Tammy

Ginny we have been thinking about it the last year or so, and started looking the last month or so. I dont feel comfortable with my daughter going to high school here. It is such a big school compared to what they were use to. I know that smaller schools has problems too but I guess the smaller school makes me feel more comfortable. It is sooooo sad but everything here is all about what your last name is and how much $$$ you have. If you do not donate $1000+ to the sports booster club then your child does not play sports, which is really frustrating. One Dr. that I use to work with bragged all the time how he donated like $6000 to the booster club so his boy would play football, that just really makes me mad, and then they wonder why the teams here never goes to state or does well, but the smaller schools are kicking butt. I was really wanting to move before my daughter started high school so she could get settled, I didnt want to move in the middle of her freshmen year, high school is hard enough. We are looking for a good church in the Stover Missouri area, we want to start attending asap so if you know or hear of any please pass the info along. Thanks Ginny how have you been doing lately? How is your lovely daughter? I hope you and your family are having a GREAT week!! ~Tammy

    hey Tammy!

I've been more of a "lurker" lately!

I've been busy packing and messing around with house stuff too! Closing on my new house in 2 weeks! AHHHHHHHH!!!! Way too much stress! I am never moving AGAIN!!!

Give us the scoop! we already know it looks awesome-- how many bedrooms, bathrooms, what does it look like inside??????

Having some of the same issues with my daughter and school-- she wants to stay at the same school--but we are moving to a "better" district-- She will start fresh next year--7th grade-- but it is a more "cliquey" type school!! so i'm contemplating letting her stay-- but an torn!

    Congrats girly!!

Michelle the house the inside is not finished it only has the studs up no walls, or cabinets, etc we are going to finish it ourselves. It has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. My father-in-law owned his own construction co. for 30 years so with the studs already there we just will need to put up the drywall and insullation. The kitchen will probably take forever to finish because I want all the gadgets and that takes $$$ so we are going to do the kitchen last.

The school that my kids are at right now is more clique, and I think this will be a good change and she is excited (I didnt think she would be) the one that I thought would really give me he!! is my oldest son Austin (13 yr old going on 30 going into 8th grade) he has been real resistant to moving until he saw the place. I really thought he was going to be my hard sell, but he seems to be as excited as I am. You have to do what is best for your kids, even if it makes them mad at you. I was pretty determined to get them into a smaller school. The school they are at now has 800 kids in the jr high school (7th & 8th grade) the school they will be going to only has 600 kids from pre k - 12th grade! Hope you have a GREAT day and moving $ucks!! That is what I told my hubby, that once we move in here, I am not moving again this is it until they bury me (lol). We always wanted to move to Colorado, but I am sick of moving and to be honest with ya I couldnt find more beautiful property in Colorado for the price I paid for this. ~Tammy

Monifa this is hopefully going to be my last move. I can really see us retiring here. We have always wanted something just like this but in Colorado....because of the mountains, but hopefully hubby will be able to swing a deal for the 20 acres behind the 10 acres we have. The 20 acres is part of a Ozark mountain. So truthfully this is as close to Colorado as I will probably get and that is ok with me because I will not get all the snow but all the gorgeous scenery!! If you are ever out this way let me know and we will go fishing together

Michelle girl it sounds like you have your work cut out for ya. Our first house we bought had wallpaper like that and when I went to strip it there was like 10 layers of friggin wallpaper under it....I was like you got to be kidding me!!! It was sooooo much work If I lived close I would chip in and help ya. Decorating is soooo much fun!! I love it! I am a little ticked off though today....I had a log cabin book and it had alot of decorating stuff and I tore the house apart looking for it and cant find it )))stomping foot((( lol oh well I will have to buy another one.

ohhh man Tammy---your scaring me!!! I didn't think of the possibility of...gulp... more layers of it underneath! Since it is sooooooo70's i just figured its the original stuff!! house was built in 1978. I'm getting so anxious to move!!! I am getting nooooo sleep--- i lay there thinking about what i'm gonna change-- what i wanna keep---and worrying if the closings are gonna go smoothly!!! This is our first move from house to a house--and there is ALOT more stress than i expected! but only 12 more days!!! yeah!!! and we can't wait to lit a fire in the fireplace and go swimming in the pool!

I know how ya feel-- this is THE house for us too!! once we DO all the work we want to it!

For what we are paying we could have prob found something that needed less work but this is the only one we have found that has ALL the things we wanted, like the pool , fireplace, great neighborhood, walking distance to school, totally fixable basement, and my littlest kiddies are all hyped up because there is a park practically in the backyard-- so i can shooo them out the door! And they won't be soooooo boooorrrrreeeddd all the time!! Only thing i am worried about is the dogs-- no fence yet- we want to put one up but now hubby has it in his head that an electric fence would be better-- you know where they wear those shock collars?? I just don't think i trust those! so we'll see!!

I'm not excited or anything am I? I'm soo excited for you too!! Those pic look so peaceful!!
Is it in driving distance for your new job????

Michelle girl I am sure everything will go fine with your closing. When you get it you need to take before pics and you need to share with us!! You have every right to be excited a new house is a exciting and alot of fun!! I am busting at the seems (lol) My drive to work is only about 45 minutes and that is what it is now. No biggie!! I would rather have the drive and the kids go to a good school ya know what I mean? Sacrifices, sacrifices (yeah right!!) just kidding..... I didnt mean to scare ya with the wallpaper, my house was a night mare!! We decided we were going to rip out the ugly paneling in the living room/dining room, got the paneling off and there was some dry wall under it! Started to knock out the drywall and if was some $hit that had slats of wood all over the wall and then putty with horse hair in it!! I kid you not, you want to talk about a friggin mess to clean up!! Oh I was pi$$ed for days. Then we had to replace all the wiring too!!! Girl I was pulling my hair out, but I enjoyed it too!! You need to make sure you take pics and share with us. The kids and I ran over to the cabin a couple of days ago and took 38 pictures so I will have pictures of what it looked like before we worked on it. I think that will be fun to look back and see how much work we have done with it. 12 more days huh? Well you need to let us know when you close and we will crack open a bottle of champagne and toast ya for your house warming!! ~Tammy
