Brand name vs. Generic, please help?

when i first started to loose weight the dr prescribed Ionamin which is name brand for Phen but I had to pay out of pocket and it was costly, approx $84.00 a month. When I decided to get back on the weight lose wagon I looked up the generic verse and found it to be under HALF of what I was paying a month. So I asked her for a cheaper alternative and she prescribed the generic verse of Ionamin, which is Phen. My question is: I am not having the same results as I did with Ionamin. My dry mouth, which I was thankful for because it made me drink TONS of water, is no longer as bad as it was when on the brand name so I have to force myself to drink water. Also, I haven't had the same weight lose results like I did on the brand name. It still curves my appetite but it's not the same. Has anyone noticed a difference between the kind of outcome of brand name vs. generic?

I just want to know if anyone has experienced this before with the Phen or any other medication

Polar~ I do have the dry mouth but I found it works very well. Never took the brand name cuz I asked up front for the generic.

You know what, it varies from person to person. Even Phen doesn't have the same affect when taken over time, or taken a second or third time around.

Some doctors change things up a bit to see what your body reacts to. Maybe there's something else out there that works for you.

Some of the other alternatives could be Adipex (which I believe this site promotes). My doctor switched me to that way back when. Also think Meridia is an option. That did nothing for me and was expensive (similar to your orig prescription).

MY GOODNESS..I HAVE DONE PHENTERMINE, PHENTERMENTRAZINE (SP) ADIPEX AND BONTRIL....THEY ALL DID THE SAME THINGS TO ME OFF AND ON. I THINK IT'S JUST HOW YOUR BODY REACTS.

I find when I take generic meds they work the same. For most anyway, it really depends what they are.

Thanks for the responses I really apperciate it. I do develope a high tolerance for medications. It could be that I am wanting to see results the moment I snap my fingers. I'll finish out this month and see what happens.
