Tenuate......Anyone???

Hello my hubby has been on phentermine since June or July. He has done well with it and has lost around 50 pounds. The problem is it has started to lose its effectiveness. So he went to the dr today and she changed him to Tenuate. I was wondering if anyone had tried it before or knows anything about it. I work in a pharmacy and am not sure if I have even seen it before, so it much not be prescribed here very much. Well Thanks for the info in advance!!

I have heard that it is a lot like Xenical. It is a weight loss drug and has the same side effects a Xenical and Bontril. Why did the doctor switch to this ? How long had it been since he had lost any weight?

Hey Elmos! Hmm..I never heard of that one before either actually. If it turns out that he dont like that or doesnt work too well I would just have him take a break from the phen for a few weeks then start back up. I took it for 3 mo. and felt it stopped working so I stopped takeing it during Christmas time. A few days ago I started back and wow..it felt like the very first day I was ever on it! I would suggest to just take a break from it for atleast 2 or 3 weeks...Let us know how the Tenuate works for him!

I have used Tenuate, if I recall its full name is Tenuate Dospan.. and it is similar to phen, I am attatching a site that you can read about it at..

My cousin started out on phen and then after it lost it's effectiveness her doctor also switched her to Tenuate. She liked Tenuate better. It is definitely NOT like Xenical. I have never tried it because phen worked for me the whole time I was losing weight. Good luck.

I took it about a year and a half ago. It was good for appetite control. I liked it since I didn't have the phen side effects of insomnia and jitteryness..actually, I had very few side effects from it. My doc prescribed it then, so it was cheap since insurance covered it. It is nothing like xenical as someone said above.
