I've been a part of the forum for a little over a month. I'm leaving the group. I've lost intrest in my diet and in my new lifestyle. I just can't do it. I don't have enough power to stop my eating habits. So I figured I would stop the meds, and the support. I'm done, threw in the white flag. Maybe some other time I'll feel better about myself.

Everytime I want to give up. I read this

How many times must you fall and then get back up before reaching the
goal?
Do it as many times as it takes.

Do you really want to stay down after you've stumbled? Wouldn't you
rather
get back up and get back on your way? Sure, it hurts when you fall, but
staying down and giving up will not ease that hurt one little bit.
Getting
up and going forward is what will move you past the pain and the
disappointment.

If you've been pushed down by difficult obstacles, then you have
already
paid some of the price of success. So by all means move on ahead to
where
you can collect the reward.

Persistence can indeed be difficult. Yet failing to persist will put
you in
an even more intolerably difficult position of defeat and dismay. When
you've fallen, get back up quickly and enthusiastically, knowing you've
just
taken a valuable and important step forward on the road to success.

Ralph S. Marston, Jr.

Giving up is out of the question. None of this is easy, but it will be even harder when if you give up.

Keep on keeping on, it works trust me. I am living proof of that. None of my weightloss is from being perfect. I was determined and I never gave up. Everytime I fell I got my butt up, YOU CAN DO IT TOO

Goodluck to you and I hope u reconsider

ToosweetPhen,
I'm so sad to hear that but I myself have done the same thing many, many times(who's to say I won't say it again tomorrow). If you are not ready then maybe this is best for you right now but you should know that you have tons of phriends here anytime you are ready to come back. Take care......
Maybe you should sleep on it and see how you feel in the morning? Just an idea.

i don't understand. what do you mean you lost interest? that can be easily remedied. just switch it up. buy a new cookbook or cooking magazine and learn some new healthy recipes. schedule weekly walks with a friend so you can have fun visiting while you exercise. re-arrange your furniture. you don't have to give up.

it took me 10 months to drop 50 lbs.. it doesn't happen over night... do NOT give up, it will happen if you WANT it that bad... if you do not want it that bad, then I suppose give up and try again... it's basically a question of wanting it...

WELL, I hope you'll change your mind and at least keep hanging around here. We all make good friends, and who knows, maybe we'll get you motivated again someday. And you do have the power girl, sometimes it's just hard to change. But little changes can be made as well. You don't have to change your whole life. Just try making some small changes and work from there. But whatever you do, we are here for you no matter what.

I've been feeling depressed about myself. I have a really hard time trying to stay focused. I was doing very good when it came to working out, but now it's like I've just got really lazy.

I know it takes work. I have self esteem issues. I feel very unatractive and depressed. I've went from 215 to 190, in 33 days. Thats great and all but I seem to see myself fat still. I was blessed with my fathers big frame.

I went on this one site that measured your wrist for your body frame. I thought it was a little funny. I've got tiny wrists, as if I was a small frame. I'm considerd morbidly obese, by the wrist measurements. I didn't think I was correct. I've got broad sholders, so I have boney wrists and boney ankles. That has always been the biggest concern. I didn't want cankles.

I've been eating like crazy late at night. I keep shoving food in my mouth and I can't taste anything, but I keep eating. After I wanna cry. Saying to myself why did I just do that?? I do it anyways.

I'm sorry you are feeling this way. I have felt like this more times than I can count but sooner or later I always hop back on the wagon. I hope you reconsider.

TooSweet,
You are right. You will never be able to successfully lose weight and keep it off without getting at the root of what is eating you.

You need to ignore what you do that isn't perfect and reward yourself (even with a positive mental empowering phrase) when you do something well. They are the simple laws of operant conditioning.

The problem with trying to lose weight is that the payoff is extremely delayed. The payoff for eating a piece of chocolate cake, or gorging yourself at night time is immediate.

You MUST figure out what your payoff is for the behavior you want to change and replace it with something more positive, and *immediately* rewarding. (that's why I use mental pats on the back)

You can do it if you really want to, but it does take work. Eating less and exercising isn't even the half of it!

I will be totally honest... this post has been bothering me in a BAD way since I read it with my coffee almost 4 hours ago. I started a long post to reply with but then stopped. I took a break and read my horoscope, it said:

November 3, 2004. Your sensitive nature is likely to pick up on the fact that there is a disturbance in your thinking today. Suddenly, a blast of unexpected information may be coming your way and throwing a monkey wrench in your mental process. Try not to get thrown off-balance by the sudden jolt to your gears. You will find that you can actually incorporate some of this new knowledge in such a way that actually gives you a greater mechanical advantage.

So I think instead of posting what I wanted to say I will post my "tomorrows" horoscope:

November 4, 2004. You may fall into a very pessimistic attitude. Suddenly everything looks bleak and the glass half empty. You may feel like your life is going around in circles and you may be asking yourself what you are doing it all for, anyway. Realize that you can talk yourself out of this mood just as easily as you have talked yourself into it. Although this may not seem to be the case, you must trust that it is in order to see the glass as half full again.

I hope your glass becomes half full again.

Only you have the power to change your life!! Write down your goals and the steps needed to accomplish them. You may surprise yourself with new determination. You took a great step in coming here. Remember, it takes at least 6 weeks to incorporate a new habit into your life (exercising, eating right, etc). Try not to give up!!!

Thank you so very much. I hope I can really try. I didn't think I was going to get encuragement from so many people. I start to feel a little special. I don't think I've ever had so many people encurage me. I need the help to not gorge at night. It's so much the fullness I'm missing. Everyone's made me feel better. I wish this would pass soon. S-T-R-E-S-S is getting the best of me.

I am very sorry I was so angry with you for even thinking of giving up. It really isn't your fault for my mood today. Your post just triggered my anger at my younger brother.

He is voluntarily dying. He is a drug addict and an alcoholic, waiting on the results, which we already know… cirrhosis of the liver. We will find out next week.

The thought of you giving up and possibly allowing yourself to die as well hit me hard.

This year, more than 300,000 Americans will die from illnesses related to overweight and obesity.

Compare that too:

According to the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependency, 105,000 Americans die annually from alcohol-related causes which could include everything from falls to drunk driving accidents to cirrhosis of the liver.

For your sake and your daughters and your Phrends please, please give everything you have in your soul.
