I begin Phen in Nov. and really felt it working. I was without it for about a week in a half while waiting for a new shipment and I also was sick for a few days and didn't want to take it with the other meds I was taking. I can really tell the difference when I don't take it. I have gained a couple during this time and am eager to get back on track. I have tried so many things and failed that I have to make this work. So many close people around me are having gastric bypass surgery (not knocking it at all), and it is so tempting, but I know right now in my life that is not something I want to do. I see all of you on here having successes so I know if you you can do it I can too. This message board is a huge help and support! Done rambling for now, thanks for reading.

Sabrinna: You CAN do this! I too thought, well If I just gained 50 more lbs., (I was not heavy enough) I would do the bypass thing. After much research I found bypass people still have to learn how to eat and exercise, and the side effects with bypass are terrible. I think you are doing the right thing by going this route.

The thing we have to remember.....to take it one day at a time (I want the weight off yesterday!). We have to work it daily for the rest of our lives

Thank you. That is so true...the surgery is not a quick fix. They still have to learn a new way of life, somtimes with bad side effects.
I appreciate your encouragement. It is so hard sometimes. I sometimes think why wasn't I chosen to be thin? God made me this way for a reason. Well, he made me a little smaller I think. Keep up the good work!!

Sabrinna, you'll get there girl!!! I think that God gives those of us challenges that he knows can handle them. Hard work and dedication will always pay off. You'll find some great support here.

Gastric bypass isn't a quick fix, you're right, it's a tool to help you get to your goal. My mom had gastric bypass almost 2 years ago. She is doing phenomenal!!! I am so proud of her b/c she was educated enough to know that it was a life change, not a miracle. She did exactly what the doctor told her to do post-op and had NO negative side effects what-so-ever. Gastric bypass was right for her, not everyone.

I think you're doing the right thing doing the diet and exercise route. You can do it!!! Just look at some of the people on this site and their successes. Miki has lost over 75 lbs. since June of this year!!! Kristin has lost 60 lbs. They are true inspirations

Sabrinna-
Best wishes to you on your goals. You're right about gastric bypass. I know a few that did that only to regain the weight, and even more, because they didn't change anything about their lifestyle or eating habits. Those are tough things to change, especially if you've been doing things a certain way for many years. However, we CAN retrain ourselves and learn new and much better ways. Just take it one day at a time, that's all any of us can do!

Sabrina if I can do it you can too. I too considered gastric bypass until a friend had it and died on the table after incurring an infection. Then I watched that talk show (think it was Oprah) and saw the young lady crying her eyes out, it was very emotional having to adapt to the change. So what I decided to do was to pretend that I had the gastric bypass. Mind over matter. I pretended that I couldn't eat a lot. I pretended that I couldn't eat the meat (which now surprisingly I can't!!!)(I have a couple friends who had it who say that red meat tears them up!)
But if you need some help or encouragement I am here. I have taken the past few months off due to exhaustion, but I am back!!!

Sabrinna,

I think everyone who has replied has said it the best. You can do it, you have to believe in yourself!! God made you beautiful inside & out and sometimes due to life struggles we end up not taking care of ourselves the way we should and that's when the weight comes on. I know because I am one of those people but I am making the necessary lifestyle changes that I need to get back to my goal weight. Just think, if you start now and change your mind set and start working out, eating healthier, drinking more water in a few months you will already be looking and feeling great!!! You deserve to feel good and I just want you to know we are all here for you.

Sabrinna, You look so pretty in that dress and your hair all done up girl. Anyway, my cousin had gastric bypass. She was 250 lbs and now she is down to 117 lbs, sometimes i'm so jealous but i'm so happy for her because she was having so many health problems that have now vanished. I love her like a sister and want her around for a long time. She lives in Indiana so I don't see her much but she is flying in this Wednesday and I can't wait to see her. She has had alot of complications from surgery but the risk outweighed her health problems.
The only surgery I intend to have will be my tummy tuck and breast lift/reduction when I get to goal. wooo hoooo
