    Question

Is anyone taking Phen and Prozac together? I am already on Prozac for major depression and I will soon be taking the Phen. I have heard that the Prozac enhances the Phen and helps it work even better. Is anyone doing this???

I am not on Prozac but I take Effexor. I was on it about three months before I started the phen. My doctor says the same, that the Effexor enhances the Phen. I have had good results with this combination so far. Good luck to you!

I was taking a low dose of Prozac (20 mg) a day before I started the Phen. However, I found that if I took the two together, I was an emotional wreck! I don't know if I needed to give it more time or what, but when I didn't take the Prozac, I wasn't feeling so emotional. I haven't taken my Prozac in about a week and I am almost afraid to take it since the last time I took them together I couldn't stop crying. I was orignially on the Prozac for depression, but since I started taking the Phen and losing weight, I don't feel depressed like I did. I'm assuming it's all related some how. For now, I'm going to play it by ear and see how I do without the Prozac since I haven't felt this great in ages!

I had been taking phen for a while now. I added prozac about 3 weeks ago. I think adding the prozac has made a diffence in my mood/depression/weight loss. I only take 10 mg. of prozac, and 1/2 of 37.5 mg phentermine tablet.

I was taking paxil (20 - 30 mgs.) and felt that I was gaining weight on that.

A while back I was put on Prozac 20mg. When I started taking phen, I had stopped taking prozac about six months prior. But after reading Turn off the Hunger Switch, I started taking phen at 6-7am and then taking prozac around 11am-12pm. I did this for about three weeks after stopping b/c I wasn't quite sure if it was helping. I will start back taking prozac along with phen this week to see if I notice anything different. I would suggest that you not take them together but instead space them out so you are taking phen in the AM and prozac around lunch time. Good luck!!!

Salasher, both prozac (or any ssri) and phentermine mess with your serotonin levels so you are not imagining things. Maybe you were getting too much serotonin by using both?!?!

I am starting phen with 50 mgs of zoloft. My doctor says take the phen in the am and the zoloft at night. That way you won't get too much serotonin all at once.

Also, read Turn off the hunger switch...a good book that talks about this combo and how well it works!
