Hi everyone, Doc won't prescribe Phen...

Hi, I posted before a month or so back. Since then I've tried Hydroxycut- waste of money! It only made me thirsty and nothing else. I already drink plenty of water. Ugh. I want to go on Phen again. I went on it 5 years ago, a year after my first son was born and I had tried everything to lose the 50+ lbs I gained while pg. I was only on it for a bit over a month and I lost 18 lbs! Then we moved out of state and things were crazy for awhile. Then I got pg again and just one thing after another and I let my wieght get totally out of control. I'm at 244 lbs now and I hate it! So I went to my doctor today whom I LOVE, he is the greatest doctor I've ever had. Anyway I asked if he would prescribe Phen and he said in his good concence (sp) he couldn't do that for me because he would hate if I were to get health problems from it. I told him I was on it before and did great so he said I could go to his associate who deals with wieght loss more than he does. The nurse gave me a booklet and you have to come in every month to get wieghed and have bloodwork done, insurance won't cover and the total is $210 a month! Not to mention the time off DH would have to take so I could get in once a month. I was so discouraged. So I come home and I'm looking online for Phen that is less than $60/month. BTW, why is it so much online when if I had a prescription it would only cost $30 at the pharmacy? Anyway I found one site where they charge $123.95 for 3 month supply of 30's ($42/month) and $144.95 for a 3 month supply of 37.5's. It's **************.com Is this the real deal? Anyone ever used them? I really want Phen but I just can't see paying double for it. I think that I could find a doctor to prescribe it but also time is an issue, I need to hurry up and get this wieght off! TIA for any feedback! I will come back soon, I promise!

I'm sorry your doc won't prescribe it! Though I'm glad you asked him! I know a lot of people are afraid to ask their dr's about it. (I lucked out and my dr asked ME if I wanted to do it).

Though I have to say, I'm half surprised and half not. I mean, I'm surprised he said no b/c my dr. is of the belief that over a BMI of 30, your weight poses more of a risk to your health than the phen does. (if that makes sense). Also, it's not like you're 140 pounds asking for phen. (I don't mean that as an insult - my highest weight was 253...).

On the otherhand... I am not surprised b/c, well, there is a possibility of having problems (and fortunately you didn't the first time, and probably won't the 2nd time, but, hey, ya never know). People lose tons of weight without phen and I know a lot of dr's feel that's the best way to go.

I go monthly to my dr. for my weight and I was losing like 1 or 2 pounds/month. I admit, I probably could have eaten less ice cream and lost more hehe. But everytime I went, I was super bummed. My dr. would tell me not to get down b/c losing 2 pounds per month was great in his book... he was looking for lifestyle changes, not crash diets.

However, I think he felt bad that I was so bummed and offered the phen to give me a boost. He thought I wasn't exercising enough and he figured if I take the phen and lose a little more weight at a time that I'd be more motivated to exercise. (and he was right, I got into my prepreg jeans yesterday and I'm psyched!!!).

Anyway... I can't answer your questions re: the online places... But I just wanted to offer up some sympathy and hugs!

Well, you might just have to pay more for your Phen. I order mine online as well, from this site. Always gets here as promised.
My doctor would not prescribe it for me either. Not overweight enough he said.
But at my last check-up (regular yearly check-up) 2 weeks ago, he told me I should loose 15 more pounds. Easier said then done.
So I ordered Phen and received it yesterday. Took my first pill this morning.
I've been really bad for the past 2 weeks. So scared to get on that scale on Friday for the Spring to Summer Challenge Weight-in. But I will do it !!!
