    Hey:

I have been taking Phen for three days now, and have taken it before, but wasn't mentally prepared, so I crashed and burned. I am at my wits end, and really really want to lose my 40 pound I have been carrying around like luggage for years. I could use any help I can get from all you guys, there are so many success stories I have been reading. Anyways, I also take synthroid for hypothyroidism ever other day (not bad case of it), and the doctor said it is fine to take Phen and Synthroid. Has anyone else have this problem and take synthroid?? If not, just having support would be great. My husband owns a pizzeria, I need all the help I can get!! Thanks, MyCrazeeLife (Patty)

Hi Patty! I too have hypothyroidism....but I'm on Cytomel I have to take it everyday. I've been on Phen for 30 days now. And have lost about 8lbs. I definately can tell that the weight comes off easier now that I'm being treated for the Hypothyroidism. Before I could barely get the scale to budge.
I wish you lots of luck with your weightloss endeavor....and if you need any support feel free to chat with me!!

Thanks for getting back to me. It is nice to have someone with something in common with me besides the Phen. I wish you luck also, and would love to chat with you. What kind of eating habits do you have that helped you lose? I have been taking Phen for three days, how long did you take it before any kind of weight loss? Thanks for chatting. Patty

Hey Rachelle: Wow, another person with the same problems as me. Soooo nice to know I am not alone. I have been heavier, I was up about 10 pounds from what I am now, I think I lost that because of the meds for the thyroid. Now I have the fight of a lifetime going on trying to lose these 40 lbs. I have done it before, but, before I was diagnosed. I don't know what to attribute my lack of "loss" to. Do you exercise, and what kind of diet do you have? What have you changed the most since your thyroid diagnosis? Anything besides the meds? Thank you, Patty

Oh My!! I have hypothyroidism as well, actually I "acquired" this condition after the birth of my son(pregnancy induced hypothyroidism)...kind of a bummer, since I gained a "motherload" of weight while i was pregnant!!! But, I have hope and keep on plugging away.

With regards to diet with hypothyroidism, I try to avoid refined carbs and too much dairy.

Here's a question for all of the others that have hypothyroidism, Do you notice that while on Phen and thryoid meds, that you sweat more than normal?
Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!!

I have to take Synthroid daily...I don't have a thyroid do to cancer a few years back. Losing the weight with a thyroid problem is extremely hard! I've been on Phen for a lil over a month and I've lost 8 pounds. The Phen stopped working so I took a week off, I started back on and it seems to be helping again. I watch my calories, fat intake and try to keep carbs low. I think drinking tons of water is very important as is a good exercise plan. I try to get a work-out (video at home) in every day. Oh yeah...protein. You have to get some protein. I'm not a meat eater so this has been difficult for me, but I've found some wheat tortillas that are good with refried beans and fat free sour cream..also some soy flour pastas, and a lot of the low fat cheeses aren't bad at all. I started losing the weight on the hypoglycemic diet (pretty much a diabetic diet). I lost about 50 pounds that way...but then stayed stuck for over 6 months...so I started taking Phen and increasing exercise. Welcome! Sorry for the long post. Guess I had lots to say this morning! lol

Hey: This subject seems to be booming, glad I decided to bring it up, at least we have some support. Having hypothyroidism and trying to lose weight can be tough. As far as sweating, when you have our kind of thyroid problem, you have a hard time with body temperature, I am always cold, and hardly sweat, but my mom with the same problem sweats like crazy. I know that for a while Phen makes me jittery, but it hasn't made me sweat more. It is probably just one of your side effects. I am very very glad to hear from you all, keep it coming, we will get through this together. Keep the faith!! We CAN DO this!! Patty

Me again!! Just wanted to jump in and ask if any of us Phen/Thyroid (Phenroids) lol!! There are 5 of us already, would be interested in any kind of weekly weight in, maybe it would give us week by week incentive. Got to be honest, and just reveal what you lost that week, and we could discuss any problems we had, and help each other. Ok gotta go to work, it was just a thought, let me know.

I'm going to be tested for hypothroidism on Aug 4th. What symptoms did you all notice who have been diagnosed? I have a very slow pulse, dry skin, freezing cold hands and feet, etc.

Hey Elisabeth: Symptoms are dry skin, dry hair, can't control body temp, weigh gain in some cases, but my strongest sypmtom, was panic attacks, and alot of crying. It is emotional as well as physical. I was kind of relieved when I found out I did have a thyroid problem, cause I thought I was going crazy. Good luck to you, and don't worry, if you do have it, it is controlled very easily by taking one tiny little pill everyday, and it takes about one month on meds to get things to straighten out. I hope this helped. Keep in touch!!

    Hi Patty,
I would be interested in posting our weekly weight loss. I think that would be a boost for us! Especially since it is typically harder for us with Hypothyroidism to lose.

As far as the symptoms of Hypothryroidism...I had cold hands and feet....dry skin....depression....I was extremely tired....and I also couldn't lose any weight and I had a small goiter. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. So my body is attacking my thyroid like it is a foreign object. But I have to say I feel much better now that I'm on my meds...It was a scary feeling to have all those symptoms and not know what was wrong with me.
    Hope to chat more soon!!

Ok, thats three of us interested in weekly weigh ins. I think that is enough interest to start, and anyone can jump in when they like. I think Mondays sound good, since it keeps you alittle on track over the weekend. Starting this Monday the 28th we will weigh in the morning, and at some point during the day report what you were, then the following Monday do the same, and let each other know what the loss (or not) (or gain) is. You are not going to be judged, so be honest. I think it will keep all us Phenthroids on track. Only catch is, you ARE NOT to be on the scale at any other time during the week. Can't be a slave to the scale. If you like also, you can measure and tell if you lost any inches. I think that is better done monthly. Any other suggestion, or changes just let me know. We can do this!! What have you got to lose.....but weight. LOL I can't believe I just said that. Keep in touch. Keep the faith! Of course we can chat during the week and help with any tough times!

    Elisabeth,
Yes, the fatigue for me was in the afternoon too. I would take a nap everyday...I can remember some days that I would sleep all afternoon....and then go to bed early. It was so terrible.
From your symptoms it certainly sounds like you could have hypothyroidism. Just so you know my TSH was tested first and it was in the high end of what they considered the normal range (which I was told by another Dr. that I could still have the symptoms of being Hypothyroid.) But my Dr. at the time wouldn't prescribe me any meds. Finally 6 months later I was able to talk my Gynecologist into doing the test and my TSH had doubled. So I had to return to my primary Dr. and take the results and get my meds. Also you might want to ask for the other tests that they do to check your thyroid functions besides the TSH. Since sometimes that shows no problem. I'm not exactly sure what the other tests are called. Maybe someone else in here does. And you definately can ask your Dr. Also, they say you can check your body temp. everyday for a week right before you get out of bed, and if your temp is below normal everyday then you could be Hypothyroid.
Please keep us informed of your results.

Thanks for the info, Anemone. My temperature is ALWAYS below normal and I will ask my MD for a complete thyroid panel of bloodwork. I noticed the fatigue, dry skin, and numbness/tingling of my feet as well as the always cold feeling and mentioned it to a friend who said those were the symptoms she had. She's been on Synthroid for 4 months and feels a lot better now.

    Hello Patty and Elisabeth,

I have a Hypothyroid problem as well and I was taking Phentermine too. I didn't get results at all from taking the phentermine. I was so discouraged and upset. I can't figure it out for the life of me! I found myself doing nothing but craving food more once I started taking the Phentermine. Go figure!? I am on syntroid currently. I have a labslip to get my tsh tested this week so I am hoping it is staying level. I was on Phentermine for a good while and followed it to the "T" and yet didn't lose any weight at all! NONE! Though I didn't gain any either. Yet I was going to this board and reading how so many people lost such a large amounts of weight and here I am staying big and becoming more and more disgusted. My doctor has just prescribed me the Xenical. Has anyone been on this before? I have been on it for about a week now and haven't gotten sides effect at all....YET. I am hoping this one will work along with consistent exercising. Anyone info on this medication that you all know of and how well it really works?
Would love to have some feed back here.
    Thanks

Hello mommyof4: I hope I don't have the same problem as you losing weight. I have been doing my program to a T since tuesday, and have been really really good. I haven't weighed myself yet, but am going to try to stay off the scale till Mon. I have heard of Xenical, but have not known anybody who took it, so you will have to be the first that I know. When do you start, or have you. Please keep me up on if you like it, and side effects etc. I tell you, this is the hardest 40 lbs I have ever tried to lose. Well, please keep in touch, and let us know how the weight loss is coming along. If you would like to join us on the Monday weigh in please jump in. I explained what I would like to happen a few conversations up. And as I always say, Keep the faith!!

Hey everone who I chat with. Sorry I didn't do the Monday weigh in, I was in the ER for 6 hours Sunday into Monday. I have a kidney infection and gall stones. I have to be in bed for rest for a couple days, and medicated for pain. I will be back tomorrow, should feel better, just took a minute to let you know.
