Question
I have had problems lately with a very raised heartbeat and so went to have all the blood tests my doctor recommended. Well, today I got them back and I am hyperthyroid.

I don't even know what that's about so I was wondering if anyone else here has the same problem, and also wondering if maybe the phen triggered it or something.

I would really appreciate anyone's ideas and would like to hear anyone else's experience with hyperthyroidism.

Thanks

Laura
When someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles to frown. But it takes only 4 muscles to extend your arm and whack them in the head.

Hey Aussiegirl! I dealt with hyperthyroidism/Graves Disease for a few years before I decided to have my thyroid removed. I don't know if the phen would cause your thyroid to go out of whack though. I was hyperthyroid long before I took phen. Take your thyroid medication as prescribed and hopefully you will be able to control it before it gets out of hand. If you have any more questions just let me know!

I think Hyperthyroid is when the thyroid gland over works.... I don't know for sure... you can investigate it by putting hyperthyroidism in your search line and a see what it tells you. I wish I could help more.

I wouldn't think the Phen caused it. Phen has been around FOREVER and is approved by the FDA...it's safe as long as it's used as recommened...like BigD said, take your medication and you will be just fine!

Glad you went to the dr!

I had that. I was really sick. The good news is it's not a big deal and they so know how to treat it. But it is a serious disease. You must get it taken care of.

They will either give you medication to control it, or give you a radioactive pill to strink your thyroid.

It's really not a big deal, but it must be taken care of.

Phen has nothing to do with it, so you did not bring this on yourself. I got it before I ever took phen.

PM me with questions if you want.

Cheers,

Beth

Try going here www.endocrineweb.com it will tell you the difference between hypo and hyper Thyroidism. I am hypo and have to take the Thyroid hormone replacement which is just a daily pill.

I read your post prior when U were not feeling well being hyper Thyoid this would explain why you were having all those symptoms. On the Phnetermine description page located on this web board it states that people with Hyperthyroidism should not take this as it may worsen their condition. My opinion I do not think the Phen caused this, my guess is you have probably had it awhile and the Phen just brought out the symptoms more.

Thumbs up
Thanks everyone for replying. I certainly didn't know much about hyperthyroidism till today and I have read alot in the course of the day. I am thankful for this forum that allows me to put my questions out there to you guys and get responses.

I'll have to wait for my visit with the endocronologist and hope for the best.
