Why are some topics closed for reply?

If our admins see a post going in a bad direction such as an argument that is getting out of control, or if a subject matter is getting a little too risque, or if it is about a competitor's site (like-trying to advertise another site to order Phen) then they have a right to lock the post and accept no more comments.

They are VERY lenient towards this and give us plenty of leeway. Also, I think most everyone would agree with everytime they have locked a post.
