I belong to an HMO (kaiser) and was wondering if my dr. would even give me a prescription for Phen..I'm planning on ordering it off the 'net, because I'm almost sure my HMO won't give it..seems like most dr's just say..exercise and eat right. Ya,if that worked for me I wouldn't be so fat, doh. Has anyone had a dr. from an HMO prescribe it?

They aren't the most accomodating when it comes to care..when my depression meds ran out..I called for a refill..they said I had to see the dr. before he would refill them..I said ok, I'll make an appt. Nurse said the first appt. was a month away..I said I was completely out of meds..she said sorry, you can call everyday and see if there's a cancelation. Argh. I decided to just stop taking them..(and am doing fine w/o them somedays better than others)..just made me so mad tho..I hope they never do that to someone who is suicidal.

Sorry to veer off subject..but info on your dr's attitudes towards phen and experiences welcome!

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having with the doctor at HMO. I always buy mine online at this site. I have not found a doctor in my area who is willing to help me out. So I buy online. I sometimes worry that buying online will not always be an option. Guess I will worrie about that when it happens. Good Luck....

I heard on the news that some people have purchased various meds off the net..and the meds were bogus. I'm planning on buying mine off the net..has anyone had a problem ordering or getting them? I trust this site..but did find a cheaper one..wondering if I should just buy here. Better safe than sorry I guess.

I also HAD to order my phen online this time, 1st time I took phen I got from dr. but it wasn't easy. I had to trust what I told him wouldn't be used against me and cause me to get social services trying to get a hand on my kids. I too was on depression meds and thru taking them I learned what it was I was so depressed about. The health of my 2nd son, depo keeping me from having cycle, not good after child birth, and all the surgeries and car accident which my 2 month old son who just had surgery 1 wk earlier, got a skull fracture. Ins. co refused because I didn't call before receiving Emer helicopter treatment, did I add I was unconscious? Then I stsrted depression meds. Did well and began to really dig. Came to find out when I got off those meds, I knew what in everyday life, outside of all that trauma. I was unhappy with my weight. I have ALWAYS been skinny, anorexic borderline in high school, now I have ppl asking me if I am pregnant again? Girl at work told me about him and i made appt. He didn't want to budge, I tried to sum it up, he said I wasn't "obese enough". HUH? If i am obese and my bmi, ekg, and blood work shows ok, how can you say no. It was all to be paid by me ins. paid nothing, but still, it was like he didn't want my $. So I told him everything, all i have tried diet pill wise, liquid diets, fasting, combining every pill I could find until the dreaded "er visit". Yes I overdosed and not just 1 time. He began to change his tune. I wouldn't recommend ANYONE be that true with a dr. too many new laws and child abuse tactics since 5 yrs ago. He took me as a part of his phen pts. He treated me like i was glass, asked inappropraite "as if I was a junkie?" questions, and made me come weekly to get just enough meds, until next visit. It was annoying, but I showed him, if you will just give me a chance I will show you how much this means to me, and how much I wanted to feel good about myself. He saved my life, and i came to work for him years later, we were the best of friends, I had to leave the business, got too personal with the phen patients and couldn't cope. I had been there and felt both their joys and sorrows, and it was too much for me. Dr's aren't that way anymore, so I would say oreder onlne if you can afford it. I thought about asking my dr. for phen but couldn't handle the "you aren't big enough yet" look, isn't that the point. Obese is a word that means health concern, so how OBESE do you really have to be?
Wow, I really said too much. In all of this I hope I didn't hurt or offend anyone. I love coming here and being able to be so honest, many ppl who know me do not even know all of this. I just want to both help, support, and relate to anyone who may read this, yet may not be able to post such a story.
Un fortunately it is true, the med. field isn't what it used to be, which is why I no longer work in it, but am still paying on student loans, ggggrrr.
Please don't slam me for this post, just wanted to both reply to the subject and vent at the same time. I wish there was a support system like this then and I pray there always will be.
    Thanks,

Thank you for your input. I'm so sorry to hear about all you have gone through.

I have tried every diet known to man/woman/dog/cat/monkey. The only thing that worked other than phen was starvation. And starving isn't healthy nor a long term solution. I get back spasms, have creeky knees..and I know it's from my weight..dr's have always said.."you need to lose weight"..like it's that simple. Sure, everyone knows eating the right foods and plenty of exercise work ideally. But some people truly need help. My guess is that alot of dr's think people are fat because they are lazy or don't know how to diet.
My depression is symptomatic of thyroid disease, and losing my father 2 years ago. I'm better now..but I'm not 'living' my life..I'm in a "fat funk" I don't like the way I look or feel..so it's easier to sit in the house..perpetuating the feeling. But, not for long...Woohoo..Just knowing I'm going on the pills have lifted my spirits.

Hey Girl. Look in the yellow pages for diet centers. Usually, diet centers (a little expensive, will do you for approximately $80.00 a month. Good luck. Missus

If you let your DR. know your serious about losing weight and what times you generally eat or overeat(and when and if you exersize) I am sure they wont have a problem with prescribing weight loss pills (GRANTED you must be a certain amount of OVERWEIGHT to qualify)

Frankly I have seen some members here how look Fine and healthy with a bit of "Meat" on them.

This skinny Ally Mcbeal look does not work for all (most) of us men.

I let mine know my eating habits and exersize habits. I also let him know that due to 3 knee surgeries any running or heavy sports is out of the question.

I generally do not eat till about 10 am then I have a snack (generally nothing healthy) and then eat a normal sized lunch about 12 ish and then basically after 5pm I have a HUGE dinner (generally about 7pm and no exersize)

I was advise to eat a large breakfast by the Dr. I always skiped it before due to no appetite and sometimes I felt sick after eating in the am.

Now I force myself to eat it (like a piece of fruit or cheese or eggs.

Then Lunch a normal sized lunch and a normal sized dinner (for me I cut my proportions in half rather then 2 sandwhiches I just have one etc..)

(all my eating should stop after 6:30-7:30) even snacks I wake up at 4:30am and generally asleep by 9-10pm

I have a desk job and I do not exersize at all at work..

I however love to Hike (confined to 1 or 2 times a week for 5-6 hours) and work on the yard and that sort of thing so I do get some form of movement from my otherwise seditary life.

I did do a bit of research on the net and then went to the dr's office with what information I had and thought he would be able to directed me towards 1 of the 5 prescriptions I brought in for him to look at.

My Dr. was the one who who suggested phen for me.
He stated that he had been prescribing it to the majority of his patients and generally had Decent results He also let me know that He had some folks who used it and ACTUALLY gained weight!

For the first 30 days I was taking 1 pill (skipping some days when I did not need them) and then taking 1-1/2 pills to 2 pills a day when I did need them.

So when I returned to his office after a month (I did loose 8 lbs not really doing much in the way of eating less I just was not hunger for certain parts of the time of day when I would Normally eat or overeat.

I let him know that the pills would last for about 4-6 hours for me and what my sleep and awake periods were (most of the time I am awake by 4am) and in bed by 9 so I had 18 hours of potential eating/gorging time was all there for me. this cut it down to about 7 hours of time in which I would be hungy or not and during these times I would eat my meals.

Breakfast at about 5:00-5:30am then not hungry till about 7-8am (take 1 pill will last about 4-5hours) then from 7-12ish not hungry at all

Then 12ish eat lunch good till about 2ish take 1/2 to 1 whole pill (will last 2-5 hours) then good till about 6pm and eat dinner then bed at 9-10pm
(it took me a few days to figure the schedual of how to take the phen so that I would be able to sleep at night)

If your doing what I did with letting your Dr. know what your attempting to achieve and he/she still does not prescribe phen or something for you I would ask what there reasons are for not prescribing a "diet pill" for you are.

I was pretty upfront with my Dr. and let him know what I wanted and why.

Which was basically I ate late at night no breakfast little exersize and needed something more to curb my late night feeding binges!
