Been on all night checking out various posts.

I have been thin and I am now fat. Believe me, THIN is better and people most definetly treat you better when you are thin. It stinks, but that's the way it is. I have had this confirmed by many other heavy people. They look at you as a weak person who is lazy (without realizing that you may have gone through so much stress and bad times that caused you to overeat in the first place) Once the weight is on, it's tough to take off. People just ASSUME you don't even try to help yourself. The bigger I am, the more invisible I am to men. And I used to turn heads like crazy when thinner.

imskenwoobie (hope I remembered to spell that one right (lol) I applaud you for your confidence and self esteem. But honey, you are in the minority. You are lucky to have found a man who loves you no matter how much you weigh. VERY lucky. And also, black men don't mind their women heavier, but those white boys sure do! PLEASE don't get offended by the statement or take it that I am mean this as a racial stereotype, but after living 47 years I have definitely observed this to be a fact.

i fully agree janet! i feel the same way! just like last week..i went to a club with a friend of mine...who by the way is a 'not so little' girl herself...she's a size14~16...she was getting looks...but nobody was lookin my way...why..i'm a bigger girl...i don't want to toot my own horn...but i'm a hottie compaired to her...but she's smaller and that DD chest helps her out......im sure!! aughhhhh!!

I TOTALLY know what you mean Rene! I'm a college student and I love to go to the clubs and dance and stuff like that. I've always been the girl that is told ...you have such a beautiful face. Which is nice..BUT it would be nice for once to hear "you're beautiful" I go out to dance and stuff like that and feel so insecure sometimes because I have to wear what makes me look the thinnest. these days college girls aren't modest..they girls that are wearing the least amount of clothes and the thinnest get all the guys.=( It would be nice to get some attention once in a while.
I'm not sure about all the different races and what type of girls they like??
My boyfriend is Asian...and I'm a big girl. He's never came out and said anything about my weight. He's mentioned working out me staying on track if I slack on the working out..but people can be so cruel to those who are overweight. IT's like they never want to see the real person.
I've always been overweight but i've a VERY outgoing person and always enjoy myself wherever I go. I'm just one of those likeable people(or so im told:P) Weight isn't everything, but a lot of people make a bigger issue out of it than i should be. anyway..enough rambling. Enjoy the weekend. I think the fact that Black Men are so open about liking their women "thick" or w/ "booty" shows white women anyway that black men sometimes like their women to have more meat on the bone. I dated a black man and he straight up told me that that is how it is for most black men. White men like their women RAIL THIN for the most part.. and I'm talkin NO fat! They don't like big butts and they cannot lie. They like little round heartshaped perfect cheerleader butts and they can't deny! As far as mexicans, I don't see them descriminate publically and I personally have not had a chance to get to know a lot of Mexican men. All of the Chinese men in my apartment complex are w/ anorexic chinese women. Different cultures find different features attractive in their women. It goes way back. Remember Korean women having to bind their feet? They couldn't even walk half the time but WHO CARES?! The Korean men liked small feet! LOL! Anyway, you get my point.

I happened to meet my honey when I lost a lot of weight. But he's so badazz that even when I packed on 50 lbs, he loves me anyway! I'm thankful for him! But I do want this weight off b/c sometimes it IS STILL nice to turn those heads!

- Can't really comment on Mexican men, never met any. But as other posts have confirmed, there is definitely a cultural preference within ethnic groups, and white men in America want thin women. Read the personal ads, a great number of them say "slim, slender" woman only.
After reading several of imsken's posts, I surmised she was black, but you are correct, I was wrong in just assuming that. But if she is as big as she says she is, and the way she talks about her man, then I would bet on it.

I agree with much of the above. Also, I think black women carry themselves with more confidence when they are overweight because their society doesn't place as much stress on havng a perfect weight in the way white society does. And confidence makes people attractive.

I love strong black women! I work with them, and have one as my mentor, and she's amazing. She doesn't take crap off anyone but she's also just a great person...I think white women could learn a lot from black women on how to be more confident.

You are so right about black women being confident...that is why I assumed that imkens' was from her very positive statements about herself and her man. I applaud her tremendously for her high self-esteem. But perhaps had she been treated shabbily by men alot, it would not be as high. As I said, she is very lucky lady to have such a great man who loves every inch of her.

Unfortunatley, before someone gets to find out what a wonderful and beautiful person you really are, they have to give you a chance first and they won't if they just arent attracted to you from the start.

But hey, I am not giving up!

Can you guys please not make general statements about what black men prefer. In my neck of the woods, black men prefer fit, sleek, thin women. With firm, round, smaller "booty." Not the kind of "booty" that puckers, spills, fills and topples over a chair when in seating position.

Stereotyped "ethnic" preferences disappear the h i g h e r you climb the socio-economic, educational ladder and female body-type preferences become quite similar.

Has anyone seen The Best Man? And similar films like that one with most of the same actors(Lawrence Chestnut, and the guy who was also in How Stella Got Her Groove Back)? Well, I am talking about black men similar to the characters portrayed in those movies.

I am glad I'm not a lazy-barbie-doll-sit-around-on-my-butt-all-day-eating-bon-bons-never-gaining-a-pound-trophy-wife. My husband is glad too. Maybe it's because I'm married, but I'm not losing this weight for anybody else but me. And not ALL men of any race like a certain type. If they are worth it, they'll see you for you. I can identify with the whole club scene, been there, done that, but seriously think about it for a minute... Are you really going to meet Mr. More Than A Minute in a club?
