Since winter is around the corner and i am in the habit of walking now.....I have decided to buy a treadmill. I don't want to spend a ton of money but i don't want a piece of crap either!
Does anyone have one that they would recommend? I'm looking forward to buying my new *toy*. Wow...i never dreamed i would be looking forward to getting a treadmill! I want a Treadclimber! Those are way to expensive for me though....a treadmill will have to do. Thanks for your help!!!!!

Walmart
I have had mine for 3yrs. No problems at all. If u dont want to spend that much. Thats the first place I would go. Like I said I havent had one problem but always get u some warranty. I'm kinda jealous because I like the new treadmill they just put on sale. Mine came with weights but I like this one better.

I have had mine for three years or so...seems to be working out. What I did before buying though...I figured out what I wanted in a treadmill...such things like:
1. Progams 2. Can I create own programs? 3. Maintenance required for belt 4. The Max Incline and Max Speed - for those just starting out...the Min speed it will go. 5. Weight Limitations 6. Pulse Monitor 7. Storage - Does it fold or is easily moved? (at the time I lived in an apartment) 8. The width and length of the treadmill deck Some of things to think about...will you ever use it or anyone else in your house for running? Not all treadmills are built to do this. How long is the warranty? And is assembly easy? Can you have it delivered...these things weigh a ton and a half... Look at the construction...or the floor model...is it welded or only put together with bolts. The welded type is stronger and better but still can be found in the low end models. Also...most important...how you will use it? Don't just pick out the cheapest one and say thats it...hit up places like sears or something and find one that you like...one that feels comfortable to you...and then...bargain hunt elsewhere to find it cheaper ect. No sense in buying something that makes your knees hurt or goes a million miles an hour at its minimum if that isn't for you. There are treadmills out there that connect to Ifit.com which allow you access to different programs and stuff for the treadmill...at all levels. The treadmill connects into the internet through a cable, phone line ect, ...and the programs on the site control your treadmill for you. It can be an awesome workout. Also..hit up something like consumer reports..or websites...there are consumer reviews on almost every make and model out there. Dang I forgot to add...DEFINATELY try out the model you buy first if at all possible...walk on it for a few minutes and see if the belt slips when you misstep...if it is a half way decent one...the belt won't slide forward on you...and will still continue going behind...otherwise you could end up with hurting yourself because it throws you off balance. Geez....yeah...I have been using a treadmill on and off for over seven years. --Cookie [ October 03, 2003, 11:02 PM: Message edited by: CookieLover ] |

IM SORRY, I DONT MEAN TO SOUND CHEAP, BUT I HAVE GOT TO TELL YOU, I GOT MY TREADMIL ABOUT A YEAR AGO. MY HUSBAND AND I USE IT PRETTY REGULARLY, ITS IN MY LIVING ROOM SO, SO DOES EVERY GUEST WHO WALKS IN MY DOOR, EVERYONE AWAYS WANTS TO GIVER A WHIRL. ANYWAYS IT IS A WESLO CADENCE 3280,ITS GOT LEVEL AND INCLINE CAPABILITY, SPEEDOMETER, CALORIE COUNTER, TIMER, SHOWS DISTANCE;ALL DIGITAL, AND IT HAS A PULSE MONTOR. I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH IT AND BEST OF ALL.......
I GOT IT AT A THRIFT STORE FOR $60. THEY ALLOWED ME TO PLUG IT IN, FIDDLE AROUND WITH IT, MY HUSBAND AND I TRIED IT OUT AND WE LIKED IT, AND WHO KNEW, THEY EVEN DELIVERED. WE REALLY LUCKED OUT. IT WOULDNT HURT TO LOOK AROUND. DO KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE BUY THESE THINGS AND NEVER USE THEM!!!! THIS IS WHERE THEY END UP.AND WHILE WE WERE DISCUSSING BUYING THIS TREADMILL, A WOMAN ACTUALLY APPROACHED US AND SAID THAT SHE HAD ONE BRAND NEW IN HER GARAGE JUST SITTING AND SHED GIVE IT TO US FOR FREE IF WE COULD PICK IT UP, BUT WHEN SHE CALLED TO LET HER HUSBAND KNOW, HE HAD TAKEN IT OF ALL PLACES, BRAND NEW, TO THE DUMP!!!ANYWAYS, GOOD LUCK TREADMILL SHOPPING!!
