Unhappy
Hello,

About 2 weeks ago I started Phentermine and was so excited about seeing results and finally losing 45lbs and feeling better about myself. 4 months ago I lost my father suddenly and lost my friends too because they have disappeared and now my Mom & my sister are drifting away slowly it seems. Me & my father were closer because we were so much alike. I spend most of my time alone now. I have one friend that comes by and maybe we will hang out once during the weekend. He is a great guy and I wish things were more than friends but that is all it is now. I dont blame him for not wanting more. I am depressed and he isnt. He is a very happy person and has alot of reasons why he should be. I am trying though to be happy, that is why I started the phen, because alot of my unhappiness is because I dont feel good about myself because of this weight I put on. And of course its because my "friends" are no were around and it hurts too. But anyway, lately I have been eating badly because I guess I dont have anything else and I dont want to stay this way. I want to continue with the Phen, eat right and exercise. But because I am depressed I just feel like I wont and I have been giving up on myself again. How do I stop this and how do I do it by being alone with no one to talk too. I want to be successful and I want to be happy. I want to do it for myself & for my father.

Anything advice I would appreciate.

Thank you.

Hi Melmin, That's great that you lost 45lbs, how long did that take and did you feel that Phen helped? I know all to well about being depressed, and having "friends" that are dips. One thing that really helps me is to exercise. It's a cure for me because it makes me feel sooo good when I'm done, the feeling of accomplishment and of course helping with weight loss. Please just try to stay focused on yourself, everything else will fall into place.

You say you don't feel good about yourself because of all the weight you've put on, but it might be the other way around - you've put on weight because you aren't feeling good.

If you're depressed, you need to see a doctor. Very often, treating the depression will help the extra weight to come off.

Good luck!

I agree with what the others said. I don't have many friends where I live because I stay at home taking care of my little girl. I have my hubby and her. I love coming here though. There are always people that will talk to you and that are so nice. When you start getting down just pop on here and just start talking. Congrats on the weight you've lost and sorry to hear about your dad.

Phen can't treat depression. You may need some help in that department first. There is NO shame in that. Many of us know first hand. Please do yourself a big favor and go talk to your doctor.

I agree with the others. You should talk to your doctor about your depression.

Other than that... lets say it turns out to not be real depression but rather your outlook on yourself and life. Then it becomes a matter of choice. You have to choose to be happy. Alter your thoughts by replacing them with positive ones. Be kind to yourself and forgiving too. Try not to make excuses to feel bad either. Don't rationalize allowing yourself to give up on yourself or life. Turning things around is up to you. I have been through many difficult times. It takes practice to learn to cope in a healthy and effective way. Of.. course this may be completely off and you may have true depression. I just wanted to add this to give you another option.

I'm so sorry about your father. I'm sorry you miss him so terribly but remember that he is still with you. You're a part of eachother and what he gave to you while he was here in the flesh will stay with you for life. If he could, I would imagine he would tell you to love yourself the way he loved you. To take care of yourself the way he would care for you and to enjoy your life. He would want only the best for you. I hope you find what you need and can work through this. We are all here for you to. Much love

Rae - you are so right. It's about choices. IF she has clinical depression, however, the ability to make those choices is hampered. I'm not suggesting you don't know that - I just want her to check things out.

If depression isn't really the issue - then you're right - you do just have to buck up. Not easy, but necessary.

Feeling alone is not going to just go away.

I agree, see your Doc. There are millionsd of people with depression, all sorts, all levels and all kinds. There are so many treatments for it, with or without meds.

I say get on it, treat it now and people will want to be around you when your happy.

For now, keep us posted and stick around here for some extra needed support.

I agree see your doc. Also one of the rarer side effects of Phentermine is depression.

Also it might be worthwhile to seek professional counselling and don't be so hard on yourself this guy obviously like you or he wouldn't hang around. Ok he may not like you the way you want him to ... but as my mother says you never know your luck in the big city.

Wow, you have had a lot on you. I said a little prayer for you just now. Phentermine can cause or aggravate depression. I used to take Celexa for PMS, and I was feeling like the phen was causing me to have a slump in mood I just couldn't get past, so I took a couple of the Celexa, and I'm back, good as new. Perhaps you could talk to your doc about it, and get some Celexa or Zoloft. It may make a world of difference.
