MY DOCTOR REFUSED MY PHEN REQUEST !!!!!!!!!!!

I AM NEW HERE. AFTER I SAW THIS WEBSITE, AND DID SOME READING ON PHEN, I WENT TO THE DOCTOR TO SEE IF I COULD GET A PRESCRIPTION. SHE INSTANTLY REFUSED !!! SHE SAID IT WAS BAD FOR THE HEART. I WAS MAD BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD SO MANY GOOD REVIEWS FROM THIS BOARD. INSTEAD, SHE GAVE ME A PRESCR. FOR XENICAL. I HAVE ALSO HEARD SOME GOOD REVIEWS WITH THIS PILL. I PLAN ON STARTING MONDAY 4-14-03. I HOPE I HAVE SUCCESS WITH THIS PILL.

My doctor gave me a perscription once for Zenical...be careful with it...it can get messy! Don't go to far from a bathroom after eating a meal with fat (like pizza).

My new doc. won't give me a perscription for Phen either, even though my old doc. gave it to me two years ago. My new doc. says my BMI is not high enough, it would need to be 26+ and I am a 25. Go figure....I am considering getting it from the internet

Hi,

I went to my doctor and asked about being put on Xenical because I was having a hard time losing weight. His words to me were....."Xenical is a crappy drug. There is another one called Phentermine that is much more effective and perfectly safe. People have been using it since the 70s with no problems."

However, I guess you should follow what YOUR doctor tells you, or else maybe get a second opinion.

I take both. Phen and Xenical.
I get mine online. My doctor refuses it too. I lost 16 pounds in 2 months, but I was off both meds for 2 weeks in the middle of that, for a visit to my family.
I could not do it without the meds. Specially the Phen. It really controls my appetite. And I take the Xenical when I have a good meal. Dinner time or when I go out. There are some side effects to it, but I prefer to look at the fat in the toilet then on my butt. (kind of gross, sorry).

I going to take the xen. for 2 weeks and see what happens. If it isn't effective, then I will go to another doctor and see if I can get a prescr. for phen. The xen. doesn't supress my appetite, and you all know it's hard to stick to a diet if your always hungry. The doctor I went to didn't really sit down and talk to me. She didn't even check my stats to see if I really needed to lose, or if I was healthy, etc or anything. I was in and out in about 5 min. So I know I'm going to seek a second opinion. I need something that's going to give me energy, as well as metabolism boost, and supressed appetite. I also heard that phen gives you dry mouth. That can help me with my water drinking. I don't know. This is all so frustrating. I just need a little kick start with this weight issue. This is very frustrating.

My doc did the same. The logic behind Xenical is you learn to eat less fat. 2 weeks is not going to do you any good. It takes about 2 weeks for it to get into your system good. This is a long term slow weight loss medication. It will help you learn to eat less and learn the 30 percent rule. Keep everything you eat under 30 percent of your calories from fat. The combo of phen and xenical is good. I took them in the beginning and had good luck but I cant afford to take both. Xenical is just too expensive and my insurance would not cover it.

Even if you take Phen, remember you gotta make some changes. Even after time, phen will not work as well. It does help if you learn while you take it.

Anitra I was wondering why nothing happened when I tried some Xenical. I got four from a girl that said they cost a bunch and she told me that it would do ugly stuff. LOL Nothing happened I just figured it was because my normal diet doesn't have a whole lot of fat. LOL she told me to eat a bunch of fatty stuff before I took the last pill and I would see what she was talking about. I hate popcorn and cheese and nothing happened. It must be because it takes awhile to get into your system.

I hated Xenical. You could be in for a big messy surprise. I thought the other part of the fen-phen was the dangerous part.

Hiya everybody!

I'm new to this forum and this is the first time I've ever replied or posted a reply. I was on Xenical for about a year and I saw results. I changed my diet and followed (not officially) the Weight Watchers plan. Over the year's time, I lost 49lbs. I was (and still am) extremely happy with the weight loss. Xenical didnt do anything for the appetite, but did get rid of the fat (sorry!) My weight loss did eventually slow down and instead of getting rid of fat, it seemed like all I got was stomach cramps (at the most inopportune times!)

I started Phen on May 2 and I feel as if I've lost more weight, but I havent weighed myself. I dont have much of an appetite, and sometimes I have to force myself to eat. The cotton mouth has been the worst, but helps to get the water down. I joined Curves as well, which is a totally awesome establishment. It's a 30 minute workout (anyone could do this!) and I've been working out 6 days a week. I dont get weighed and measured until the end of the month - but we'll see how it goes. If anyone else is doing Curves, I'd love to hear your stories!

Hi Yvonne, how did your first months measurements go? NOticed you started in May. I began Curves, April 9, 03. June 9 I had lost a total of 15 inches. I also was working out 6 days a week, for motivation really. I now go 3-4 times a week and found the results are much quicker and im much more toned going only 3-4 days per week. I LOVE IT. I also started phen, and within the first month I had taken off 8 pounds, which was great, as I had only lost 3 lbs by my 2nd month at Curves. But, inches are far more important, as muscle weighs more than fat. Goodluck all!
