    Question

Someone had mentioned it to me b4 and Im just wondering how this works?
    How safe is it?
    Anything negative about it?

A co worker said she goes for 4 months w/ taking the active pills then takes 1 week of the fakers and gets her period. She said her dr. told her perfectly safe.
If this is true Im going to be asking the gyne at my next appt!????

My guy is an OB/GYN and I'm on birth control pills. Yup, it is perfectly fine to take BC pills back to back although I only did it once. He advises women to do it for 3-4 months max and then allow nature to take its course. If you don't allow the uterus to shed the endometrial tissue, it could lead to endometriosis or cancerous changes.

I do it if i need to now and then if i'm going on vacation or something, but i personally get kinda sore/tender in certain areas if ya catch my drift. Plus i have to be really careful to take the pill on time (sometimes tough on vacation) or there can be break throughs.

I read about this several years ago and recently started doing this as I would get discouraged seeing the scale go up (yes I know it's all water). I would do this for two months at a time but sometimes I get this crampy feeling. Since I've experienced that, I've decided to take a break from doing that.

Yes, it is perfectly safe. My Gyn put me on continuous BC since I would get mirgraines when I have a period. He said a woman doesn't need her period unless she wants to get pregnant. And the period we have on BC is not a "real" period because we aren't ovulating. I have about 2 periods per year and love it.

I have friends that get the depo shot every 3 months and never have a period.

I wouldn't recommend a teenager or someone in their fertile years to do it though. Might mess up their hormonal system.

I used to avoid aunt flo like the plague. I went once every 4 months for a year and a half and then started having problems. I was bleeding in between cycles and when I would have one It would literally put me in bed for days. Went to a new OBGYN here in Texas and she said STOP!!! Your body uses that time as a cleaning mechanism . Putting a stop to something that is completly natural is never healthy in my opinion. It took me almost 6 months after I stopped to get things back on track. Now on occasion, if I am going on vacation or something , I will skip 1 month....Anyhow just my opinion...best to talk it over with your OBGYN...

    My Best to You Always
