I would love to get together for a meeting. I'm also in the Chicago land area. I live in Lombard, the west suburbs of Chicago... 15 minutes from Schaumburg. Downtown Chicago would be a cool place to meet, there is always something going on in the city.

When you say that you live on the Illinois/Indiana border I am assuming that you are near the south suburbs like Lansing and Calumet City? I am very close to that area I live in Chicago in Beverly Hills community so if that is the case I am in that area all the time shopping, especially in Highland, Indiana. I would love to!

I am really glad so many replied!! I live 4 1/2 hours from Chicago, 2 1/2 from Champaign, 3 hrs from Springfield, 1 hour from effingham, so on. We are 2 hours from Indy and 50 minutes from Terre Haute Indiana. we are actually much closer to indiana than illinois. I would be willing to travel halfway to chicago (or a little ****her) and such. if someone could suggest a few towns that has stuff there and see how far everyone is from that destination and so on. If we plan for middle or end of May, we all can ge to know each other before then on here! We could do a weekend and book a couple hotel rooms and room. I am up for going shopping, shows, bars, whatever. I haven't been away from my hubby and 2 and 3 year old forever! I'm ready for it!! Let's go!

I live 300 miles from Illinois, but my husbands family lives in Kankakee, Schamberg, Rockford, Champaign, etc. So, before I get back to Oklahoma, hope I can make the gathering. Where is Stellar? JoRae - i am 2 hrs from indy also. How far are you from Terre Haute? Champaign from T.H. (I think) would be about 2 1/2 hours. From Indy about 4 1/2 hours. Am I right everyone or not? I'm kinda confused not knowing what town you live in.

Are we going to stay the weekend? Anyone live in one of the towns i mentioned above? to know what to do there and such. okay i would vote champaign but i really don't care where. hopefully by may i will be down another 20 pounds. I'm really excited about this!! oh and after we decide what town then we'll do a vote on the date. sound good?

i'm in Corydon.... Know where that is? I-64 goes right thru here. I'm all of 20-25 minutes away from Louisvile, Ky. It doesn't take me long to drive there at all on a good day. Accually , it doesn't make me long to drive anywhere,

Humm, I'll ask my hubby how far away we are from Terre Haute, he's a truck driver, so he should know. (I think)

I'll check the atlas about the other cities you are all talking about and get back to ya. It may take me a couple of days , it's gonna be a busy weekend for me, I got 2 birthday parties to do, one for my mom, and the other for my best friends daughter, so give me a little time and I shall return.....

My vote would be for the Chicago area. There are a ton of things to do or around Schaumburg. We have Woodfield mall which is the biggest mall in the U.S (not in size; that's Mall of America but in number of stores in mall). I would be willing to travel wherever though.

Ok I am with Denise Marie Chicago area but I think we are out numbered! I have no clue as to where Champaign and Effingham are, I have heard of them, but dont know exactly where they are.

Champaingn is about 2 or 2 1/2 hours from chicago. I have never driven in chicago and not sure i could , but stellar and heartland live close to me (about an hour I think) so maybe if we did chicago we could find people to share rides with. i guess let's see what everyone else posts. i am going to start a thread in the phen events forum for illinois get together. Maybe we can post stuff about us to let everyone know a little more. i know we've done that from another thread but i can't remember it all and this will be just for us. i'll try and do that tonight.

I did some map calculations today and for the person in Ohio and on the Indiana/kentucky border champaign would be the middle spot for them and the Chicago area people.

My reasoning was to take the people who were the furthest away in each direction and find the middle point so everyones driving distance would be simular.

However, I'm open, as long as its in Illinois and I don't have to drive in Chicago traffic! After my car accident 2 years ago I'm a little anxious about traffic, its not me I worry about but everyone else. I might even be able to catch Amtrak up to Chicago but then someone would have to meet me at the station and hold my hand cause I am not a city girl and don't know how to get around one, LOL

I guess lets decide where first, then when?

For the Effingham area girls, I was just looking at a map and though we are not far apart the way the highway goes up/over/down it would take me longer to get to Effingham than Champaign even though the geographically Effingham is closer Whats up with that! LOL

I still think we should opt for the midway point but I'm open.

Hurry up and get it on the Events forum, I'm getting EXCITED!

As for when, May sounds nice, for me it would have to be the first weekend of May or the second to last cause of Hubbys birthday, mothers day and my wedding anniversary. Junes good too except around fathers day and the last weekend of April works for me to.

can you pop into the planning thread at the phen events forum? Its called "Illinois get together" We could use some ideas from ya if you have any.

I've only been to chicago by train. My husband told me about some expressway that is several lanes wide (like 6)with traffic going in bothe directions and the L train is flying by down the middle and to keep up with the flow of traffic that was BUMPER TO BUMPER he had drive 90 MPH. Is he over exaggerating? How can you drive bumper to bumper going 90? YIKES
