Question
Some so-called experts believe cravings speak to what you are missing in your life instead of what your body actually needs. Example: chocolate cravings could mean lack of love or passion

I thought it would be interesting to find out what some of your top cravings are and what you think they say about your life.

My top craving is chocolate and I feel it definitely kicks in at times when I feel most unloved or unlusted!

Anyone else care to share?

Chocolate chip cookies with walnuts!

I do have a friend who craves - and eats - raw steak! Her doctor explained the risk of eating it but she still gives into it sometimes. Apparrently it might have to do with needing more iron or something.

For me it's usually sweets. Chocolate mostly..or sometimes ice cream with peanut butter and cereal on top (I know...but I love it!). I definitely want these things when I'm feeling down.

"Dude, I crave Cheetos" ... this cracked me up SO bad!

The roasted chicken may be because of the protein. What a good thing to crave! Your body might not be getting enough protein so it is making you crave it.

Raw steak. Wow! Makes me think of "Rosemary's Baby!" Yikes!

These were so interesting to read. I think our cravings say a lot about us. Sometimes they are legitimate cries from our body for certain vitamins and nutrients, but other times I think we can self-medicate with food. I know I do!

I have lots of cravings! At the top of my list it has to be chocolate! Not quite as often I will crave carbs or anything salty. All of these usually come at night...The worst time!

I hate to say it but I crave EVERYTHING!!! One day it'll be nachos and burrito's (Ozzy Burritos), then it could be mybennigans salad, or I could go on a cereal binge, or maybe a big bag of chocolate covered pretzels or peanut m&m's.

I think I eat like this not cause somethings missing but because I deprive myself of these foods for so long sometimes that I go crazy when I get my hands on it (when I give in). They say u should never cancel foods out, just learn how to fit them in properly. WELL, I'm proof of that theory!!!!!!!!!!!

I crave carb-junk foods like chips, or protien like peanut butter, or dairy/carbs like icecream...usually after work or at night. I think I crave these things because I eat healthy and small proportions during the day until about 5pm. I crave chips and carbs because I do'nt get many in during the day from about 8am-4pm. A few but not many. Maybe like 2 pc of low cal bread (wheat).
I think I crave also due to boredom, I'm missing a hobby in my night life, like my boyfriends mom beads like bracelets and stuff, or knits, or i sorta like scrapbooking, so I need to start a hobby instead of sitting bored infront of the tv. I enjoy my time relaxing infront of the tube, but need something to keep my hands and mind busy.

I crave pretty much everything too...depending on the day. I know it may sound wierd to some, but I don't really crave chocolate. I mostly crave peanut butter with stuff (i.e. pretzels, raisins, soynuts, crackers, cheese, etc..) Anyway, other times I might crave pie crust. Not the pie filling, but the crust.

For about 2 weeks, I had major cravings for something that wasn't in my cupboards nor in the grocery aisles. I was so OUT OF MY MIND trying to figure out what my body was craving! I never found out.
I drank so much water, my doctor told me to stop though (2-3gallons a day)! I guess it was my substitute for what I really craved.

I don't know what all of my crazy cravings mean that I am craving in my life, but it would be interesting to figure out! Let me know!

Peanut butter is high in protein. I think if you crave peanut butter, you probably aren't getting enough protein in. Peanut butter is a fast source for it ... no cooking required.

Salt is an interesting craving. If you get sick with vomiting or diarrhea, your body usually craves salt so whatever fluid you drink will be retained.

Boy, there are a lot of cravings going on here. From what I've read people who crave fat are looking to calm down emotionally. People who crave carbs are looking for the rush of feeling followed by the lethargic (I can't feel anything) crash. Chocolate is for passion and love. Protein-based foods and vegetables/fruit are the only ones said to be craved for a physical reason.

I know if something is going haywire in my life, my first thought is a high carb, high sugar food. I definitely think I want the initial rush followed by the crash.

It's really interesting to read all of your cravings!
