Tomorrow is the last day of school. I'm frantically trying to get things together for my students before sending them out for summer break. My heart is filled with pride over their accomplishments, yet at the same time, I'm thrilled to death for them. Do you remember that feeling? SUMMER! The whole excitement of the months stretching before you to be a kid? I'm so envious of that feeling! I wanna be a kid again...go barefoot, make discoveries, swim, get excited over the music of the ice cream man, get a game of baseball going in the street without proper equipment.....

I remember staying out all night on those warm summer nights with my friends we just sit talkin about boys and what we were gonna do when we got older. I remember my summer loves, but I married the best one of all. I remember sleeping until noon or after. I remember swimming in the pool everyone havin a good time. I remember having sleepovers and giggling all night long until my best friends dad would beat on the wall and tell us to calm down a little. Oh those were the days. No bills to pay, nothing to worry about but what you were going to wear to the mall huh. But i love my life the way it is now and I wouldnt change it for nothin.Well except for my huge **** and thighs and everthing else that jiggles.

I remember riding home on the bus the last day of school and the driver blasting Pink Floyde "Another Brick In the Wall".

I remember sleep overs in the back yard, going to the pool and wrestling with the boys in the deep end. I remember winning the contests for being able to stay under water the longest, cruisin in my Uncle's 59 Impala convertable, neighborhood water balloon fights, blasting the radio listening to Duran Duran, Thompson Twins and Adam Ant until one of the parents would run us off and then we'd go to the next house.

I remember that 19 years ago this summer my best friend was killed in an accident two weeks before we started 9th grade and how that changed how I saw the world. Sometimes, it seems like just yesterday.

This summer my daughters and I are gardening, jumping on the trampoline, going swimming at the pool in town and fishing on the local rivers. We're bird watching and camping. We're biking (now that I can again.)

Thanks for starting this Holly, it made me think of sweet days, and bitter sweet ones. Made me laugh and cry (a little) remembering days gone by.

But I'm really looking forward to getting to see it all again, from the parents point of view.

Putting fireflies in a jar.........water balloons......staying outside until dark and eating dinner late............running through the sprinkler............lemonade stands...........fresh fuit........popsicles....

Hmmmm, I just realized something about my childhood while "remembering". Suddenly my thoughts went to FOOD. Now isn't that funny that I'm on a weightloss site now, years later?????

Good one Holly! Brings back alot of memories.

Lemonade stands (trying to get rich!)....riding my bicycle and enjoying the wind blow in my face(trying to have peace)....playing in our pool...hanging out with all my friends..prank calling people (BAD..I know! but it was soooo funny back then!)...ringing peoples doorbells and running like our pants were on fire. Thoes were the days!

Holly..I dont know if you took pictures of your kids in your class at the beginning of school..but if you did, do they look different? I was looking at Seths picture that his teacher took to put on their wall in class and he has changed so much! He looked like such a baby that I actually felt bad for letting him go to kindergarten! LOL He was such a baby!!! But, ghe has since grown into a fine young man that is headed to first grade! gasp....Im getting old! where does the time go!?

My parents were also teachers, so I remember family trips first from New Mexico to Missouri for a whole month. Camping on Lake Tablerock with our whole family, aunts uncles cousins....Kick the can, drive-in movies, and camp outs with friends. Church camp (same one my daughter is at this week), Summer loves, and wishful thinking, I remember my parents giving us a quarter and making us walk all the way across town for ice cream while they took a "nap"

What a really great idea Holly!!

I remember hangin out with my friends, going roller skating at the rink on friday nights and hanging in the parking lot chattin with the boys, the carnivals, I love Mr. Softee (we don't have him here though I guess that is a good thing ), I also played door bell dixie, sleepovers, going to the ocean with my family, and just hanging out with my friends.

Don't forget those twilight games of Ghost in the Graveyard! I am reliving my childhood summers through the 39 (and growing) children in my neighborhood-they are all on summer vacation and officially NUTS! Popcicles are the meal of choice and no one, I mean no one wears shoes! Ugh, the mother in me cringes, but I do recall quite a disdain for shoes in the summer myself. Majorly stocked up on the old Coppertone 45 spf today for the munchkins!
ahh summer! We should have sod by the end of this week, so I will take pics-got my driveway today, so my summer season is just starting!
