    Question

Goodness do ya have to use phentermine for maintenance????? I hope not i dont wanna take any aide for weight forever. I was thinking that my eating habits would be changed by the time I reach goal, and also that at my goal weight my appetite should be different as well. now my doc did sayto me the other day that once I reach goal exercise it a must to keep the weight off but he dint say anything about continuing with the meds.

Ive taken it for over two years, on and off (mostly on), and ive never been obese. I dont continue to lose weight,of course (Id be dead now if i did!)..i take it because i would most certainly blow up and feel like crap if i didnt....without phen i obsess over food, especially junk food...been that way my whole life. My mother is obese and so is most of her family. I dont know if that has anything to do with it, maybe its just a conditioned response that she inadvertently instilled in us because she always had that stuff around and was always baking, rewarded good behaviour with cookies, etc. In any case, phen simply helps me to eat normally and maintain a normal weight and not OBSESS and be preoccupied with food. I do monitor my blood pressure, etc, and have never had a problem. In a perfect world, I would not need it for self-control, but it is the only thing I have found that works for me. Yes, I still eat cookies, candy, etc., just not whole bags of it in one sitting. Chocolate is the absolute worst downfall I have...If not for phen, I would shun normal, healthy foods for a diet of nothing but chocolate. I was never able to just have a little and leave it at that....and yes, ive tried the SSRI's (without being on phen) to no avail...maybe someday when women are considered as worthwhile as men in this world and the medical research community starts seriously looking at our physiological differences from men, someone will figure out just why women have these intense cravings (not just at pms time) at a rate three times that of men. until then, ill hang onto the phen....

I've about decided that i'm not taking phen for the appetite! I'm going to take it for other reasons.Like energy for one.Mabey it's a mind thing.
Anyway,i know what i'm trying to say,i just can't explain it!

My doctor told me (three and half years ago) the last time I was on phen that when I got to my goal weight I'd should consider using phen for maintenance. Either a small dose 5 times a week or a full dose one or two times a week. He said that many of his patients use phen for maintenance. I, of course, didn't follow his advice. I got close to my goal weight, stopped taking phen, gained 15 lbs., got pregnant with my second baby, gained 60 more lbs, and am back on phen waging war on fat. When I get down to my goal again -- I will ABSOLUTELY use phen to maintain. It is the only way I have ever had any success controlling my eating. With the heart disease that plagues my family, I know I'm safer taking phen than letting my weight spiral out of control again.
